@@Sahil99413 bruh that’s so facts, I’ve been looking for someone with the same opinion for a while. White Lines has not only one of the craziest beats I’ve ever heard but also one of my favorite flows. Love that song
aint it funny is more hype than really doe
probably my #1 hip hop album ever. theres just soo much to unpack and discover. glad u fucked with it as much as u did
definitely up there with madvillainy and tpab for me
One interesting thing about this album is despite the massive praise it got he didn't make any money (or maybe lost a lot of money?) because of all the samples. so his follow up album doesn't have as interesting production. it's still good but in more of a traditional way. Paul White does the production on Atrocity Exhibition and did an EP called Accelerator which Danny Brown is on and it's definitely worth a listen as it sounds pretty much the same as Atrocity Exhibition. I'd also recommend Danny Brown's music videos... particularly Ain't It Funny. Hard to believe but the video matches the intensity of the song (or even enhances it!)
I think uknowwhatimsayin is also really good. Not close to atrocity tho.
uknowwhatimsayin has some great songs on it like 3 tearz, best life, combat, dirty laundry.
Some bad songs tho.
i remember danny brown tweeting about this. if i remember correctly he spend a 5 digit number for the samples. everyone in the comments of that tweet assured him that it was worth it because this album will go down as a modern day classic and cement danny as one of the greatest. so far the reputation of this album still holds very strong so let's hope this will turn out to be true.
I think Danny Brown represents the logical conclusion of 90's boom bap. In the early 2010's there were dozens of popular frat rap dude-bros, who made their version of boom bap. However, on the other side of the spectrum, there were thousands of struggle rappers on WSHH clinging onto their 2000's nostalgia. Danny dealt with this narrow mindstate when he was with G-Unit. 50 Cent didn't like his style, because it was too different. Atrocity Exhibition is the perfect median of traditionalist roots, and futurism ideals. He comforted hip hop heads with his lyrical ability, while also confusing them with odd vocals and crazy instrumentals. Nobody walked this fine line better than Danny.
glad rolling stone is finally getting the respect it deserves
I would say one of the best songs on the album but that’s genuinely hard to choose
You should check out By The Time I Get To Phoenix by Injury Reserve. Atrocity Exhibition is seen as one of the best experimental hiphop albums and many say that Injury Reserve topped it with their newest album. Definitely worth a listen.
White Lines was prod. by The Alchemist. Crazy instrumental.
I think this is a modern hip hop classic. It just has such a unique style and i like the addition of guitar on the opening track and the atmosphere that's created throughout the record. 9/10
10/10
When Atrocity Exhibition came out I had just recently become addicted to opioids (though I don’t think I quite knew it yet) and, fittingly, the album would become the soundtrack to my life over the next 18-24 months as I spiraled further & further into addiction - first realizing I literally couldn’t stop without getting too sick to function; then, in a moment of desperation, switching from pills to sniffing dope (i.e. “heroin” a.k.a. actually fentanyl); a short time later adding cocaine to the equation, so as to counteract the dope’s sedation and thus allow me to remain even slightly functional at work; finally, eventually (almost mercifully), losing my job, my wife, and basically everything else.
I’m being dead serious when I say that I honestly don’t know if I would have made it through all of that alive, or if I ever would have escaped the grasp of addiction, if not for this album.
So, needless to say, I can very much relate to pretty much everything Danny says on the album. I’d also like to add that what this album does better than anything else I’ve ever encountered is capture the essence and the feeling of addiction. In other words, this album somehow sounds exactly like addiction feels, if that makes any sense whatsoever.
PS - Check out the music video for Ain’t It Funny? if you haven’t already. It was directed by Jonah Hill of all people, and it’s absolutely brilliant (and a perfect visual representation of the song itself, too).
Glad you pulled through dude
Aint it funny how that happens?
Surprised how quick this caught on for you lol it had to grow on me but it grew like CRAZY especially Pneumonia
One of my favorite albums of all time
as one could probably tell from my pfp this is my favorite album ever. it honestly took 2-3 listens to fully get it because the first time i really hated the voices, but then it really came around on me. what im noticing for most people is whether you like it or you dont, you will absolutely remember the album. it isnt one you listen to and forget about. its just that kind of album
10/10 album, absolutly perfect
YESSS IN MY TOP 10 OF ALL TIME
Considering how much you enjoyed the production on “Really doe”, I’d strongly suggest checking out more of the producer’s work, Black Milk. He’s a producer/rapper from Detroit and one of my all-time favs. Those drums you loved? That’s Black’s specialty. Give him a look
They Also have a collab tape together
This Is Happening by LCD Soundsystem please!
Or sound of silver, it’s more accessible for getting into LCD, but both of them are classics
If you want more Danny brown try XXX or Uknowhatimsayin¿
Dance in the water is one of my favourites honestly
I don't know if anyone has already done this, but I'll tell you my interpretation of the ending:
After experiencing several panic attacks due to constant drug use, from Dance in The Water to From the Ground, Danny seeks to stay away from the drugs that have been destroying his life and manages to achieve a state of sanity. However, regaining his sanity meant he could no longer escape his depression, causing him to enter an insane state of withdrawal in When it Rain. With that, he ends up going back to drugs, living this Hell for This and entering this downward spiral again.
Didn't expect this on my recommended, but I'm not complaining.
i don't know if you've listened to Aesop Rock, but if you haven't, definitely give The Impossible Kid a listen. ALSO, Year of the Snitch - Death Grips. essential listen.
20:22 this is pretty okay on weed. Nothing special happens on weed. But on acid… you’re going completely nuts to this
White lines is me favorite song
Danny Brown - XXX REVIEW PLEASEEE🙏🙏🙏
you should react to Kick iii by Arca!!
Paul White did a lot of the production for AE
Love the music reactions! Do you plan on doing any Kendama videos anytime soon? Sweets just dropped the Amped shape 👍
watching the music video for “Ain’t It Funny” would probably be the best to understand the message more
This album feels like a sequel for Lil Ugly Mane's "Mista Thug Isolation"
Yoooooooooo I ain't made that correlation before. Very similar feels. Love ugly
@@yungmeanmug Travis Miller da goat🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

@@DAVECHER there we go 😂
THANK YOU!!!
Dance in the water is actually danny’s subconscious mind while on drugs telling him to keep going and that there are no consequences
YESSS!!!
earl def had the best verse on really doe
FINALLY!
did you just google google?
yup
GIGACHAD
DANCE IN THE WATER LEAST FAVORITE TRACK????
ikr the production go dummy
I think get hi's lyrics are definitely ironic, mocking people who choose to ignore everything and just smoke weed as a way of escaping the reality of their life. Of course its up for interpretation but given the rest of the album it feels a little out of place to have a genuine song just about chilling and smoking weed, and theres a whole verse about all these problems he's facing that he chooses to just get high instead of doing anything about them
bro you got 30 fuckin plugins and you dont even have ublock on?
bro googled google
Nah you totally missed the entire point of Get Hi 💀
First half (up to White Lines): Complete masterpiece
Second half: Completely falls off
