President Yoon Suk Yeol is the first South Korean leader to make a visit to the Philippines in 13 years.
What makes his visit timely, and what synergy can we expect from Seoul-Manila relations?
Let's turn to Professor Joeffrey Calimag.
Welcome to the program.
1. No South Korean leader had made a trip to the Philippines for over a decade.
What makes his visit significant?
2. The presidential office said the Philippines is hoping to cooperate with South Korea on a nuclear power plant project.
The Philippines is looking to resume its long-stalled project of building a nuclear power plant, isn't it?
3. What makes South Korea an attractive partner for resuming the project?
4. And isn't the Philippines rich in major minerals like nickel and cobalt?
5. Hasn’t the Philippines also taken a leading role in the Indo-Pacific region when condemning nuclear and missile threats by North Korea?
Thank you so much for your time and your insight this morning.
We appreciate it.

God Bless South Korea and Philippines ❤❤❤
Thank you Dear President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea.
From the Philippines. 👍💪
Yes every country needs unity for peace
Phillipines was one of the first countries to deploy their soldiers when the Korean war broke out. We Koreans should never forget about their sacrifice for us.
lol ka
*first Asian country. The US of course have units there, and British and Australian troops arrive soon too.
stop reminding everyone we look like petty people
Over proud Filipino check
And south Vietnam republic after WW2

I believe that South Korea contributes of the infrastructure projects including railway projects like Nuclear Power Plant in Bataan planning to reopen, Philippine National Railways North-South Commuter Railway Phase 2 to Clark International Airport in Pampanga and Manila MRT Line 7. That's why South Korea helping the Nation Building to the Philippines
Those are business... South korea will only come to ph if its business.. During Gloria arroyo's time, she tapped korea as our economic grpwth partner alongside.taiwan japan sngapore .. Gloria asked them to open their country fpr filipino people... Japan taiwan singapore taiwan heed and started hiring filipino skilled workers and even put some investments .. But.south korea didnt.. Thy hire vietnamese and thais,. As of now, amongst all south east asians living in skorea.. Filipinos remained the minority.. ..korea remained.the hardest democratic country to emter for filipino job seekers.. Koreans are just.making business w philippines.. Not as a friend
@@TiPanBu oh so thats makes sense actually their investment in the country Philippines is much lower compare to vietnam and other southeast asian countries
Most Filipinos have a very favorable view of South Korea as it is one of the Philippines' biggest development partner and aid donor.
After Typhoon Haiyan devastated Central Philippines, South Korea sent a large delegation to help in the rescue efforts of victims of one of the strangest typhoons that the world witnessed. South Korea also help in the rehabilitation of the areas destroyed by Haiyan.
South Korea has helped the Philippines implement many infrastructure projects, one of which is the Panguil Bridge in Mindanao, the longest sea bridge crossing in Southern Philippines which opened less than 2 weeks ago.
Thank you South Korea and President Yoon.
Thank you SK,
❤ South Korea Kansahameda, good friend
Asean NATO must be considered. S.Korea, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, Australia, USA, Canada, France.
Thank you.

It’s called SEATO
It’s called SEATO. It’s been around since ww2 and original g7
@@davinxi5926No lol, SEATO started in the 60s, me when spreading misinformation:

Don't forget the battle of Yultong!!
Ulol
The same power plant in Bataan are similar to SK due to Filipino engineers' expertise back in the day.
Other Korean infrastructures here in the Philippines are the longest 3km bridge in the Mindanao Region the Panguil Bridge that opened a few days ago and the soon to be operational MRT7 in Metro Manila.
Stupid. That was fumded by japan
03:36 Not due to safety concern, but as a revenge to Marcos Sr. she wanted the Filipinos to suffer and shift the blame to him.
Now we have to pay a high amount to cover our electricity bill at the same time the reason why foreign companies are discouraged to invest in the country.
Imagine, Philippines would be in a better state if the power plant was capitalized in the past. the fact that it is still standing right now prove as a testament to its structural integrity. Marcos Sr is truly a man ahead of his time.
Lies
So happy for the Philippines making use of a nuclear power plant. It would be nice if they can figure out a way to bring more value to the Filipino peso and get paid more for their jobs so that they can live better lives there.
Hope korea will STOP portraying the Philippines negatively in their media.
Stop cryinhg.. Uhaw ka ata sa atensyon nila kasi adik ka sa kpop 😂
Then, stop showing negative attitudes towards Koreans😂
Those negative images don't appear out of nowhere

@@nakjiducbabmasiser7170 Filipinos like Koreans and their culture. Koreans in general are the ones racist towards Southeast Asians for being poorer / brown. I remember a Korean actress making fun of the supposed "Filipino accent" when most Koreans cannot even speak decent English and have to travel to the Philippines to get cheap English education.

It’s time to create the Southeast Asian Treaty Organization (SATO)
SATO the brother of NATO
SEATO?
@@trismaster SATO na lang para similar to NATO.
Furthermore, southeast is legitimately one word anyhow sa dictionary.

Do it just like NATO does.
Is every member of NATO by the North Atlantic sea? Answer: No
It was created to rally against the Iron Curtain.
So, why not add South Korea 🇰🇷 and Japan 🇯🇵 to SATO
Make SATO a group of friendly nations that will help each when trouble comes
after PH decided to ban or reduce critical metals for batteries exports to China, SK can easily capture the market and share plant operations for EV batteries just like how St. Giga factory did. from Military weaponry, infra projects, semiconductor and automobile seriously PH and SK can scale trade and make use of preferential trade agreement.
Is He going to sing American Pie ??
If you could give us visa-free travel to SK, then that would be most welcome.

As a Filipino, I’m not impressed by our current President’s performance… He has done nothing to improve the lives of the common Filipinos! 👎🏼
Don't mind this comment, he or she eat too much sh*t brainwashed by DUTERTE followers😂😂
Not really, he’s doing better than expected, especially in the Economy.
@@romeocivilino6667 Stop the cap! Keep playing blind and deaf.. did you know in his term they sold the most gold reserves?? that means no foreign investors coming in, and why did Stella Quimbo say there’s no budget for LRT rehabilitation in 2025? Are these the fruits of his economic policies??
@@dia_kiyoko21 you complained to LRT, you are too OA and you want to say that this admin it's a real failure because of just one problem😂
and if it is DUTERTE who sold the gold, is it ok? why is it forbidden to sell gold when the price is all time high? when should we take profit from gold when DUTERTE is the president? 😂
@@remadeaction1916 Your mindset is what keeping PH a third world country. OA? Yes! Look at the transpo system of our neighboring SEA countries, sobrang layo!
And it’s normal to sell gold during the pandemic bcoz there was total lockdown, no business, people can’t work, so no enough money coming in. My question was, why sell gold when COVID is already long gone?? Why now? It’s better to buy, but sell? It’s too risky!
Why seek ties with a poor country? Hahaha

Too bad, the Philippine economy is set to surpassed that of South Korea by a bug margin.
What country is poor ? Don't say so if you don't know anything about the Philippines and South Korea relationship
