Great video, very detailed, thanks for posting. Maybe it was the sound recording, but your engine sound was rough after restarting, did everything get fixed after you took her for a test drive? Thanks again.
Hi Fabio, I already knew I needed to replace two injectors, this was done to check all of them before I placed an order with FCP euro. The car sounded rough after starting because it had air in the fuel system, it settles down after about 20 seconds. I did end up only having to replace 2 injectors, about four months later I had to replace one more, #3 had failed, I ran a mixture of V7 - V9 and V12 injectors with no issues at all, I just replaced them on an as needed basis instead of just replaceing all of them, it's way cheaper that way... cheers
So will cleaning like this fix a leaky one. Number 4 is leaking on mine and its sending the car into limp mode. Should I buy a new one or just do this?
@@cot998 you'll need to replace it if its leaking, I only did the cleaning so I could check all the injectors to make sure I didnt have any other issues....before ordering the two I needed....
They can all fail mate....it did run way way better but I only did this cleaning to confirm I only need 2 new injectors......basically making sure the other 4 were not leaking down...but yes made the car run great.....cheers
Yeah I just finished my drive from NC to MD and in VA I slow it down big time because yeah VA is very strick on speeding. I also have a 335i. Now the question. Any Idea why I would smoke so much out my tail pipe? everything is in working order. I suspect I have an oil leak making its way into the tail pipe. Have you ever had this issue?
What color is the smoke, white is oil burning, darker grey is fuel and you can smell it, drive in reverse with the windows down and sniff...could be oil leaks from engine compartment mine had many like all 335i they need valve cover gaskets and oil cooler seals all the time....😂😂
Im not sure if its my injector that's failing or my hpfp, Im getting codes 29CD - Combustion misfires, cylinder 1, 2AAF Fuel pump, plausibility and 2E18 - Firing Cylinder 1. its on limp mode now. Can i switch the injector 1 and 2 to see if im getting cylinder 2 misfire to determine if in fact it is the injector thats the issue? and can i do that without replacing the rings and decompressor rings simply to diagnose? or can i casue damage this way? My original issue was after hard acceleration especially on the highway the car was choking / shaking. I have replaced the coils and spark plugs , which seemed to fix the issue for a month. few days ago i accelerated hard again and it went into limp mode and i am getting the codes above. Beforfe the limp mode I also got a code 29D9 Misfire at low tank fill level. prior and in addition the the codes above. Any suggestions? if it was the HPFP failing wouldnt I have issues with more than 1 cylinder?
Sounds like you might have multiple issues, how many miles ? You can't just swap out 1 and 2 injector like that, you would need to code them into the car, it's possible to remove and reinstall the injector without the tool but you have to be quick and tripple check for leaks, last thing you want to do is set the car on fire. I would start with carbon buildup pull the intake and see how bad it is and if you can I would check the HPFP for flow, if that checks out I'd also check the injector for flow and leakdown, they are known to fail stuck open and wash out the cylinder walls... but yours could be stuck closed so you will need a way to look at the flow on a scanner while the car is running. Cheers -J
Not necessarily... I think your injector is sticking closed..that's why you are getting the low fuel code...you can check for leaks without a scan tool but not for one that's sticking closed of clogged... you would need to see the flow and injector contribution.... the misfiring is what's putting you in limp mode, the car is trying to save itself...
Just had my gasket changed and plugs Bosch. Because of oil of plugs and was told the gasket was leaking it’s a bmw 325 3litre coupe 2008 drive for a while and same problem misfire on number 4. Came up the mech said I need a new injector. After having new gasket and plugs fitted the problem now it happens now and again but more often than not engine misfire on no 4 could it be the injector ? He had to clean them when gasket was changed as oil was on most
only way to know for sure is to test it, you can check the flow rates with INPA or inspect the plug after driving it, park it for 20 mins and pull #4 plug, if it's wet with fuel it needs replaced. Here's a video on how to replace them. ruclips.net/video/X0IwCL6nabE/видео.html Cheers --J
Awesome video. I have a n54 535i. I notice about a month ago my idle was rough and figured it needs plugs. I planned on waiting until winter to change them but the idle got worse and I started getting miss fire codes. Pulled the plugs on 1 and 3, they are wet and smell like gas. Will this fix it?
Nope, if they are leaking they are done you need to replace them, I have a video on that process as well on the channel. i knew I had two leaking, i just wanted all of them to be clean before replacing my failed ones, you'll need INPA as well to code in the new injectors. I get the index 12 ones from FCP euro, it's the best deal on them. Thx - J

(but dangerous you could brick your car if you don't know what you're doing ) but coding injectors has no real risk of damage.
Not sure what you mean by the seal being loose... the point of the special tool is to shrink the seal tightly in place or it would not seat during install.... its recommended to replace the decoupler rings as they can become "ovel" after time and can cause head damage... the tolerance is very very tight, the decoupler rings keep the injector straight if they fail the injector can move around and cause permanent head damage...
i changed all plugs last week on my 750i 2009 and yesterday got misfire for 1 2 and 3rd cylinders and i also got a code that only service manual can tell me what its for.. could the injectors be the issue.. my car just stops.. fuel system malfunction.. if i put in injector cleaner it starts up and in good to go
That's hard to answer...was the first time you got the fuel code after the new plugs ? If yes what plugs did you use are they compatible with the car etc... if you replaced the plugs and are still getting the code then you need to diagnose the fuel system...check for presure and check for leak down. But since you car just stops its likely plugged somewhere, look up where the fuel filter is and see if its serviceable, might be built into the pump in this case you'll need to remove and rebuild with new filter. Test don't guess... check presure first and when it's both not running and after the fuel cleaner... Good luck
the fuel supply malfunction happened before spark plug change. i use bosch platinum bmw compatible for my car. after changing the plugs i was fine. once I accidently put my car into neutral then the car wants to trip and go into fuel system malfunction. each time it's done that ive put in fuel system cleaner so that i can make it home.. 2 days ago went into neutral on accident (hate the tiptronic shifter) and sure enough same problem again. now im showing the code for the high pressure fuel pump along with the misfire cylinders.. mind you this car has not been service since 2017,as we got it at auction last month. i know i need a new pump just based on the new code that has now popped up 2wice since I've been having this issue... i was ready to order new injectors, but now I see you can clean them and just order new gaskets and such and save money..
@@qbleezy5781 it doesn't sound like an injector and yes the high presure pumps on these tend to go bad a lot. I would start there and retest the injectors after the hpfp is working correctly. The injectors on these are a non-serviceable item so new ones would be needed if they are sticking open or closed.
hey there from your comment about non serviceability of the injector when open/close, how can you tell? i just have cylinder one misfire. new spark plugs, new ignition coil, replaced leaky valve cover gasket (leaked on spark plugs). at high rpm car drives great which rules out hpfp, so likely will replace injector seals and decoupling elements. curious how i can diagnose sticky injector though when the seals/decoupling arrives
Hello....the injectors are press fit, you are unable to open them and see what failed..thats what I mean about non serviceable.... it depends on how your injector fails...if it fails open...you can pull the plug out after driving and check for fuel, another sign is grayish smoke out the exhaust after the car sits for 20 mins before restarting....if it failed closed and starved the engine of fuel you would see it in the fuel trims...most common is stuck open and dumping fuel into the cylinder....

I think I have leaky injectors I have misfire codes when I first start the car in the morning and one the car runs for like half a minute I clear the code and she runs clean. I took the plugs out a couple of them were wet so I am thinking that the issue.
This doesn't help if they are leaking, but my car ran a lot better after this. This was just step one for me I wanted to clean them all and then replace the 2 off mine that were leaking...I have a video on replacing these as well... good luck mate....

Apparently they leak bad enough to dilute the oil and cause rod bearing issues. Such a piss off that bmw doesnt extend the warranty for the fuel injectors longer. Obviously with 12 revisions they messed upm
Hi, I have a 116i E87, N43 engine. Do you know if my car will be compatible with any US spec models? cant really find a site that sells parts for my ride
Ho did you took off the oil that was in there because I have the same problem
I just took my fuel injectors out and they’re dirty as s#it.
But I was told no to touch top portion beyond tuber seal.
Watching you clean your injectors it’s tempting.
Did you experience any issues after touching top?
Nope.. not at all...I cleaned mine so i could figure out what ones were leaking..... mine was 1 and 6 and super easy to find after cleaning...I've got a video on replacing and coding in the new ones....don't know where you were told not to touch them below the seal....sounds silly.... they are just fuel injectors...
@JohnnysSpeedShop does sound silly. All it takes is for one goofball to pull shi out of his a**, post it in a forum, and then a bunch of attention-seeking "experts" repeat the same nonsense all over the internet.

Will the injector get damaged if i clean it with a scuff pad with brake cleaner on the tip?
I wouldn't use that...solvent and a soft rag is the way to go

Hello there. Not sure if you still have your car with this issue. Does you instrument cluster flicker (lit led's) when you experience this?

Great video, very detailed, thanks for posting. My local BMW is telling me I need new 2 new injectors because of misfires, I currently have index 10 and they want 2K to replace them all with index 12, but after watching your video, I think they just need to be cleaned up.
@@JohnnysSpeedShop ahhhhhh. Ok I see. Well I'll do the same along with replacing what I need.
Also. Do the old decouple rings need a special tool to get off?
Did you notice a difference in your car after you clean the injectors ? I have a n54 2010 with index 12 have you seen them fail ???
They can all fail mate....it did run way way better but I only did this cleaning to confirm I only need 2 new injectors......basically making sure the other 4 were not leaking down...but yes made the car run great.....cheers
Hello from Chile consult after changing the injectors you have a sound like that sound is going?
Yeah I just finished my drive from NC to MD and in VA I slow it down big time because yeah VA is very strick on speeding. I also have a 335i.
Now the question. Any Idea why I would smoke so much out my tail pipe? everything is in working order. I suspect I have an oil leak making its way into the tail pipe. Have you ever had this issue?
What color is the smoke, white is oil burning, darker grey is fuel and you can smell it, drive in reverse with the windows down and sniff...could be oil leaks from engine compartment mine had many like all 335i they need valve cover gaskets and oil cooler seals all the time....😂😂
@@JohnnysSpeedShop it's grayish . I keep hearing your seals which I just replaced 1 year ago. Then valve stem seal , also maybe dirty injectors.
Where did you buy these seals? Can I get the link?
Cheers

Thanks. If it is a leaky injector wouldn’t the symptom be long start and can a bad injector put the car into limp mode and keep it there like mine ?
Not necessarily... I think your injector is sticking closed..that's why you are getting the low fuel code...you can check for leaks without a scan tool but not for one that's sticking closed of clogged... you would need to see the flow and injector contribution.... the misfiring is what's putting you in limp mode, the car is trying to save itself...
Did this solve you problem

Thx - J
Thanks Johnny. What’s the best way to run INPA? Or do you recommend one of the remote coding services?

nice video .. what about the inside of the nozzles?.. :)
Inside is fine :)
Can you re-iterate why the seal needs to be loose? And why replacing the decoupler?
Not sure what you mean by the seal being loose... the point of the special tool is to shrink the seal tightly in place or it would not seat during install.... its recommended to replace the decoupler rings as they can become "ovel" after time and can cause head damage... the tolerance is very very tight, the decoupler rings keep the injector straight if they fail the injector can move around and cause permanent head damage...
Can you tell the code for the injector seals? I've been looking everywhere and couldn't find them. Thank you!
Do you mean the part number ?

i changed all plugs last week on my 750i 2009 and yesterday got misfire for 1 2 and 3rd cylinders and i also got a code that only service manual can tell me what its for.. could the injectors be the issue.. my car just stops.. fuel system malfunction.. if i put in injector cleaner it starts up and in good to go
That's hard to answer...was the first time you got the fuel code after the new plugs ?
Hello....the injectors are press fit, you are unable to open them and see what failed..thats what I mean about non serviceable.... it depends on how your injector fails...if it fails open...you can pull the plug out after driving and check for fuel, another sign is grayish smoke out the exhaust after the car sits for 20 mins before restarting....if it failed closed and starved the engine of fuel you would see it in the fuel trims...most common is stuck open and dumping fuel into the cylinder....
i live in virginia beach and everyone here does 20-30 over everywhere.
Now let’s say the thing to replace the seal is stuck on the injector and won’t come off
what if there was a leak.. what would be the fix
Replace the injectors
Test and replace leaking injectors, these are notorious for this issue...
Solo los limpia por afuera eso no ayuda mucho en realidad ocupa limpiarlos por dentro
