This cover is glorious, it lets her voice absolutely shine. Thanks to Toby for asking AJ to sing this reinvented cover of his song for his Piano Diaries album. Toby is quoted saying, “Working with Angelina has been nothing short of inspiring. Toby specifically chose Angelina to perform this song in his Piano Diaries, a remake of eight of his songs! Angelina’s exquisite talent and vocal’s allows her to tell the story of the song so the listener can feel the emotions behind the lyrics! She just showcased the audience her vocal abilities effortlessly! BC Jean the cowriter of this song happens to be the original performer and Beyoncé actually did a cover which she won the Grammy award! Toby Gad the other cowriter is at the piano! Angelina and Toby are collaborating on original music and one will be released in a few months called Bad Valentine! 🇳🇴🇺🇸 There are three live versions one in Los Angeles and two in London! My impression is that the song is about the different standards applied to boys v girls... for example, as a boy she could just "throw on any clothes" whereas girls are expected to make more effort.... these double standards certainly exist.

A cover only in the sense that what Beyoncé made was a cover of the song written by BC Jean and Toby Gad, originally performed by Jean in 2008. Beyoncé's cover was that same year.
In this video the pianist is Toby Gad .. the Piano Diaries are a celebration of his hit songs. He invited Angelina to England with him to perform .. this is the fourth version I have heard. I am not sure if it is really a cover when a singer is standing next to the composer as they jam to create a different version of the song.

👣The song was created out of a real life experience. Not by Angelina though. Angelina did get the storry behind from Toby Gad (the pianist) who co writed this song. It was made well known and popular by Beyonsè. BC Jean who wrote the lyrics had a bad expearience being left by her boyfriend. The song is basicly her feelings and thoughts put into words.

Nice reaction! On the piano is the co-writer of the song, Toby Gad. Just to let you know, the other co-writer of the song, BC Jean, was the first to sing the song as well as the person the song came from. She had just broken up with the man that she loved. Per Toby, they played it for Beyonce one day and she really wanted to sing and use this song, and the rest you say is history. Angelina and Toby have been working together for a while now and are creating new music for her to sing. They teased a song at a special event called Bad Valentine and it should be coming out within a few months. This collaboration is awesome! The Piano Diaries is Toby's project of other singers singing his most famous songs. Angelina of course is singing this song made famous by Beyonce. There is another music video of this song and is called the Artist Version, which is a bit more pop/commercial sounding, but man, it sounds really good too!

I think some people (mostly guys), have too many issues with the lyrics. It is from a woman's perspective and it's a cover she was chosen to sing by the accomplished writer (pianist). Not signaling you out, but some reactors to this song in general. She sounds amazing is the important part;)
It is not about the lyrics, it is simply about the master vocalist performing the song...that is all. The guy on the piano, Toby Gad, is a multi Grammy winning songwriter/musician/producer and co-writer of this song.

This song was originally made famous by Beyoncé in 2008, and has received over 600 million views. Most believe Angelina's version is much more intimate and emotional, and she has made it hers. Move over Beyoncé! It is more of a reimagining than a cover.
Toby and Angelina also have been working on some original music, the first of which is a pre-release. Bad Valentine is a jazzy, soulful, and powerful song that is perfectly suited for Angelina's voice. I think it has great potential to be a hit! Toby Gad is very influential in the industry and this undoubtedly is a huge break for Angelina.
I love the way you started talking about what you would do, as opposed to what she was saying if she was a boy. Pretty funny. But, I think most people miss the fact that she is singing about a boy, not a man. You are a man and that's why you do man stuff instead of boy stuff.
