Ye has been consistent in his message over the years. He's always spoke on social issues. When he got rich and the Yeezy brand blew up, he talked about how he doesn't make the prices and the companies are getting richer by not letting him set the prices because his ideal price would be lower so that everyone can afford the brand. When he found out that Adidas was doing Yeezy deals behind his back, he went on a rampage. Ye started the legal proceedings to separate from Adidas 2 months before Adidas dropped him. The media just painted an image of a crazy man to discredit him
why do people keep calling him a genius?
what did he do that qualifies him as a genius? his albums sold a lot? that can be contributed to fame/infamy.
did he invent a new genre? did he come up with some method that takes the music industry, musicians, or music fans a step further?
I don't understand what makes him a genius.
even so, why does that count toward him not taking responsibility for what he says. a lot of people are massively talented but have controversial views or done notable mistakes. Mel Gibson, Kevin Heart, etc. These are all massively talented people but that doesn't mean their talent should count towards forgiving their take that happens to be currently negatively viewed by society. So why mention it at all?
I however, think that his statements weren't wrong. because at the heart of it, he was complaining about the elites who happen to be jewish. it wasn't like he was saying the average everyday jew you see in your uber or restaurant is automatically evil.
And yet, major banks and companies cut ties with him for it. Can you imagine if we all had internet IDs? Would banks and businesses simply close out all those peple they don't agree with? It was unjust and he was just speaking his mind though he could have communicated better.

He proved everybody wrong and became a world famous rapper with his debut album. Kanye wanted to be a fashion designer. Everybody told him to be satisfied with being a rapper. He proved everybody wrong again and became a billionaire fashion designer with Yeezys. Taylor Swift ( who likely despises Kanye) also wears Yeezys. Kanye has time and time again made albums that has influenced not only all of hip hop but all of music itself. 808s and Heartbreak has influenced so many artists with autotune it's impossible to count. Kanye is the most influential hip hop artist in the world. The music he made in 2008 was so many years ahead of it's time it's crazy. I'm not a Kanye dickrider and I definitely don't agree with his statements but his mark on music is unmatched.

People with ADHD or along those lines can relate to Elon and Kanye. Fr lol I have a biology major and art minor, but I need to work hard to have cohesive thoughts. My brain will jump and jump, often I use things like mind maps and outlines to get my thoughts in order before telling others my thoughts. Sometimes if I don't do that I'm just talking about a bunch of random thing a thinking it makes sense and it doesn't. People sometimes love talking to me and other times they hate it 🤷 I don't care tho I like how my brain works because I'm very creative and smart.
That is actually true. I also have ADHD and sometimes when I’m gathering my thoughts I tend to move from topic to topic to make a point. With Kanye though, it mostly seems like a manic episode. He is too incoherent sometimes and has illusions of grandeur. This doesn’t happen with ADHD.

I think Ye is amazing and I also think most people are normal and will not product anything of value beside their spoiled kids. Kanye was the first person to focus on the music just as much as the lyrics. It doesn’t seem as great now because every artist does this now. But at the time it was ground breaking.

All the people will spend hours talking about Ye but won't spend half the time actually talking to him OR even listen what he's saying FULLY in good faith. I admittedly haven't followed Kanye or listened to much of his music, but everytime I listen to him talk or listen to some of his music, I can't shake the feeling that this "Kanye is a genius" thing is some kind of inside joke that I'm not getting.
The dude is a revolutionary in his own genre that's why people call him a genius. In the early 00’s rap was about aggression and bragging, big chains, cars ,etc.. Kanye was a breath of fresh air, he wore a pink polo a backpack and talked about jesus & family. Even tho him being a non conformist in the genre and giving a big f to the industry, as a producer and an artist he kept taking chances, overtook artists as heavyweights in the game and made the game his own for a good decade. He was consistently brilliant to critics and fans in what he released and every album he dropped made them just stand back and appreciate him.
I think a genre every now and then comes across an artist who becomes bigger than the genre itself and thats Kanye. Just give "Family Bussines" from Ye a try and you will understand it's not some inside joke!

In order to make the claim that Kanye is "a genius" or such an extraordinary producer (as far as talent is concerned) is to show that you have limited knowledge of Hip Hop music. I'm not saying that he's got no talent, but if you make that claim, you likely have no idea who DJ Premier is. It's also very likely that you aren't familiar with the RZA's production work. Those are just two of the many producers that have reached a level Kanye can only dream about. Let's put the time in to recognize genius in a field before we invest more than what is truly deserved by people who are absolutely undeserving it.
