  • PowerWash Simulator (PC (Steam), Xbox Series X/S/One) is a game I never thought I would enjoy. Not in a million years. For some reason, I ended up loving it! Let's talk.

    *Description via Wikipedia
PowerWash Simulator is a simulation video game developed by FuturLab and published by Square Enix Collective. The game was first made available in early access through Steam on 19 May 2021, and was fully released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on 14 July 2022. Players take control of a power washing business and complete various jobs to earn money.Gameplay primarily revolves around using a power washer to clean dirt off of objects and buildings.
Armed with an impressive arsenal of high-pressure power washers, you’re tasked with cleaning the filth and grime off a great many objects, in a story with more layers than a very dirty onion.
There are multiple modes to play though, including a lengthy Career Mode and Free Play - plus online co-op for both. Regardless of what you’re doing, you’ll experience a relaxing, stress-free good time that’s just soooooooooooo satisfying.
    It works on multiple levels.
Obviously, there’s an enormous pleasure in returning order to chaos. Taking grim, scum-covered objects and meticulously restoring them to their beautiful original states is fundamentally rewarding.
But it also feels great to play. Tight controls make the act of washing an unending joy - seeing the layers of dirt and grime peel away as you spray them with your powerful water jet offers a continual sense of joy and reward. And when you get that ‘ding’ sound that signifies that you’ve fully cleaned something? Oooh yeah.
Okay, we’re gushing more than one of the Power Washers, but once you play it, you’ll see what we mean. It just works.
The game is set in the town of Muckingham, which has become coated in a thick layer of filth. That’s just one of the problems blighting the residents of this once-picturesque place: an ominously active volcano, Bigfoot sightings and the mayor’s missing cat are only adding to the chaos.
Having just started a budding Power Washing company, it falls on you to clean up the town, solve its problems and perhaps even discover how it got in this state in the first place…
The story’s been expanded from the early access version of the game, with new chapters that take the story to some pretty awesome and unexpected places.

Off topic but I really love this channel. Something about hearing your own thoughts on video games without any corporate scripting or structure nonsense is really refreshing. I also love how positive most of the videos are. There's no negative clickbait or anything like that, and any critiques you have are fair 🙂. I think I've been subbed for a year now and you've kept true to what the channel is about - just a guy talking about games that he loves.

Like you said the great thing about this game is the thought that went into it. The fact that the game tracks how much dirt is left on something, every item is labeled with a name and you can check your progress on the in-game tablet, and you can highlight the dirt.
This game has some better check-listing then some AAA games.

This game has no business being as good as it is. It's so thought-out and yet so simple.
It gives you so many options and ways to fine tune the game to being the way you want it. To the point where you can change the pitch of how the water sounds , change between nozzles , change the direction of the nozzles , choose different extensions , field of view, toggle the water on or hold it yourself , stand still and toggle the powerwasher to move , highlight dirt , highlight each individual object to see what's left to clean , use cleaning solutions if you want (i never have) , have multiple jobs open at once , ect. ect.
Honestly, everytime i thought "it would be cool if the game had this" i would check and the game already had it. There's also way more jobs than i had expected, it's a long game.
Support these devs because they went above and beyond for this game.

I recently started euro truck simulator and was like "eh", but then I started driving and was like "ahhhh". Then I see power wash simulator and I'm like "ooooh"
So yeah, definitely a future buy for me.

I also bought it. Put 2 hours in so far. I found playing Wii shop music and also Garden Gridlock - Wii Party Music fits it very well.

For me it's lawnmower simulator. I play it on my steam deck after a long day. Same thing just a little grass mowing and can just pop in and out.

I'll be honest...I wouldn't have bought this game, regardless of the fact that I agree it's a satisfying, zen-like experience.
But because it was just on GamePass, I gave it a shot...and I'm absolutely addicted.
I had to force myself to stop playing it, after having it running for 8+ hours, straight.
    It is weirdly hypnotic.
Not something I'm going to be constantly playing, but definitely will be revisiting 1-2 times a month, like you mentioned.
    Great stuff.

I played this for 2 hours and thought it was crap, then I went to bed and suddenly started thinking of power washing.
The next morning I had the urge to just clean a small house to see if it gets better, 5 hours later I got a new power washer and I was hooked.
Now every time I walk down the street I'm looking at stuff irl and thinking, damn I'd love to power wash that.

@Jake Baldino I 'blasted' that damn Van to within an inch of it's life! And the game still kept telling me it was only 99% done. Wherever that 1% is hiding I still haven't found it!
