I was working on Granados' "El Pelele". Knowing the practice technique of breaking the music into very small portions, I did this:
I photocopied some of the pages on a different colored paper than the score, then I literally cut them up with scissors and taped them onto a new page. So in my practice book, some of the pages have 3-4 excerpts, sometimes with just one measure in them. I sometimes even taped them in upside down just as a way to approach and "see" differently. That, plus learning the last page and working backwards helped me a lot.
Wow…this advice is almost the same as what our conductor/director of the Broward Symphony Orchestra in Fort Lauderdale tells us. Thanks for tips on reinforcing learning
