Sorry for the erratic camera movement. My 9 year old helped. :) We will shoot new videos after the holidays. Willow Bonsai make great gifts.
I am so thrilled to watch my green weeping willow and white willow grow roots and leave so quickly! I am planning on potting them this weekend! 🎉
I just bought one of these and yall sent me 3. First and foremost, i wanted to say thank you so very much. That was very kind of you guys. Im just really grateful that people such as yourselves exist. The fact that yall would share with complete strangers (the two I now have to gift to someone special), just wow. I'm not sure that you guys are given the proper recognition/appreciation for that and you guys deserve it. Thank you! And thank you from my friends who will share this gift. You guys are amazing human beings and I'll gladly do business with your company again.
Now for the silly part:
I had a good giggle when the post man handed me the package 10 mins ago. I didn't know how that beautiful tree in the photo fit in a flat bubble wrap envelope thingy. Oh boy was I surprised! Haha I didn't read the product title correctly, let alone what I would be sent, (and that was my bad, im not blaming you at all haha) but I'm just picturing the look on the poor ups guys face when I said "how did they fit a bonsai tree in there 🤨" hahaha
I laughed pretty hard and I hoped you guys would enjoy the funny story too. Poor ups guy. He doesn't know the whole story and now he thinks I'm nuts. How lovely hahaha
I'm actually glad they're sent this way because after researching the trees alot more, this will really help me in the future with making sure the tree is taken care of properly. This is my first bonsai but I've been growing plants for many many years. I have everything I need and I like how it requires so many quality products. I grow tropical indoor plants so this will really stand out in my collection. Thank you guys again. I think we all could learn a lot from you and your family. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend
Thank you so much for the kind words and honest review. We truly appreciate our customers and strive to provide an excellent experience.
Lol I thought I was getting the pic also
I coincidentally found your channel when looking how to trim a bonsai and you’re the same company I just got my willow cuttings from. They’re doing great, just put into soil this week actually.
thanks very much for your purchase and the comment. give them alot of light, they love light!!
Mine are, too!! HalleluJAH!?
Ha! 🤣 I just did the SAME thing. But I JUST received my cuttings and was looking for videos relating to these (as these were gifts). Lo and behold, it’s the same company. And the first comment I see is this. I love it! 🙌🏼 😆
Wow me too
And I found you on Etsy and hoping to talk before placing my order. I have been watching your store forever and am ready to order for the farm and ponds we now own sense my beloved father in law passed and hubby and I now work the farm and care over the well stocked ponds.
My worry is as we do have cattle that any willows I plant may get trampled during the heat as I want them close to the water. We want to make a family beach and fishing area fenced off with a small deck for small row boat to fish with
Anyway you sell larger willows? So happy to find your videos and learn how to do bonsai also.
I just received mine in the mail, they are beautiful cuttings, I have them in water, I’m super excited!!!
Hello! Thank you so much for your order, we are so glad to hear that you are excited to grow them. Thanks!
I just received my Globe, Black & Curl's Bonsai willows today Aug 19 2022..I hope they grow happy & healthy...Keep your fingers crossed & a prayer would work best...
I just bought some willow bonsai cuttings, we love them! Rooted and started budding in 4 days, today's the 7th day and the leaves are getting long! So awesome! I used fish tank water to sit the cuttings in, works amazing!
I would love to see a video on trouble shooting growth issues! Of my starters, one has stopped creating new growth and the other two are starting to curl their leaves. I would love a “how to interpret what your bonsai is telling you” since the willows are so different from the other bonsais.
Im a proud new father of one of your "Baby Australian Willow". They have in just 24hrs after putting in water started rooting like magic, amazing. So looking forward to a life with these trees. Thank you very much for an outstanding selection of sprouts. ✔👍👊✊✌😘
Thank you for ordering with us and for your kind comment! We love hearing that you are happy with our Australian Willow cuttings. They are truly mesmerizing trees, you will have lots of fun growing them! Enjoy and happy holidays to you!
Wife bought me some bonsai starts from you guys. Threw em in some water, they rooted out, I planted em and I got to say, pretty satisfied and extremely happy with em. Ive got em in a 70/30 coco perlite and they are just booming. Im going for a good root system with coco and then putting them in ff soil for their summer growth. Im pleased as punch, nice trees man!

i purchased your product (willow cutting) and am very happy with it. this video is great too. thanks. to folks out there curious, this guy is the real deal and has quality products.
Awesome! Thank you!
I just bought your $25 willow package on Amazon along with other seeds over the last couple of weeks; I rooted all 3 varieties in fresh water in a dark closet for a few days, everything rooted wonderfully. Moved them to a window sill, lots of new leaves popping out. I plan to do a bonsai with the corkscrew and weeping willow, the rest are going outside. The 10 Aussie willows I plan to use as a windbreaker and borders on our property. Thank you CZ, great package deal! I just wanted the weeping willow when I ordered and wound up being pleasantly surprised! Great deal!
Thank you for doing business with us! If you have any questions along the way please reach out! Thank you!-Andrea
I just got the weeping willow from you two weeks ago. I put her in water, and she's grown so fast! I still have her in water, but based on the growth, I'm going out to get a big pot tomorrow

Wow 7 days and roots on the smaller ones. I do use plant lights. But great Willow's !
Good morning, I am so happy to hear these are doing well for you! thank you!-Andrea
Wow!! Got my cuttings from this guy a week ago and already rooting nicely!! After spending weeks searching and ending up with branches the size of chopsticks I found these on ebay and I am so HAPPY!! I got the fox farm ocean floor and all the stuff you recommended and I'm off and running! Thank you so much man!!! Saved me a good 10 years lol
That's wonderful! I am very happy to hear that!
Just bought some of these from you off amazon, the willow sticks look great, I would suggest placing some tin foil around the bottom napkin to help keep in the moisture of the napkin better. These came a little dry, but should be ok.
Hopefully they turned out awesome! Let us know if you had any troubles!
@CZ Grain cuttings turned out great! I'll 4 have rooted and growing strong and healthy. Left a good review and 5 stars. Thanks for the good cuttings much appreciated.

Thinking of purchasing from you all. All the positive reviews have been helpful for me
Please do! We guarantee all our products!!
Dear CZ Grain, This will be the 4th time, that I will be purchasing your product. When I received your willow stems and branches, I put them into water and they root and flowers begin to blossom beautifully. I mean BEAUTIFULLY!!! I purchase the "Fox Farm" soil mix and potted them and EVERY TIME I get an infestation of "Spider Mites" Even when I leave the stems in water, the same thing happens... Spider Mites infestation. Every window in my home has plants... all kinds of plants and I have never had issues with Spider Mites. I will admit I have very little fungus gnats and I use stickies to trap them, but the fungus gnats had never been a big issue with the growth or condition of my house plants. What am I doing wrong that Spider Mites are attractive to the Bonsai stems and branches. BTW the Spider Mites appear the never migrated to my other plants. I have plants over 10 to 15 years old. I love plants...Should I wash the stems and branches as soon as I get them with an Insecticidal soap. HELP!!!! PLEASE!!! BTW I live in the North East.
Spraying the leaves and branches of your trees with a nozzle on your garden hose will dislodge the mites and wash them to the ground. They are not good climbers and will likely die on the ground!
Today, I just received my cuttings from ordering from you through Amazon. I've put them in water and initially put them on the windowsill, but your video said keep them warm, so I'll move them out of the window where a draft tends to come in and will monitor them for 2wks in water.
Sounds good! If you have any troubles shoot me a text! 641-203-0272.
Just ordered from you on Etsy yesterday! Super excited to get my cutting. Thanks for the great info!
just purchased from your etsy!! so excited
Thanks so much!
Hi John. I purchased the 9 pack from you site on Amazon. They are doing great. I’m going to wait till around June to put them in a Bonsai pot. Keeps the vids coming. Gino
Thank you for your business and the comment. Enjoy this day!
Just received my cuttings, they kind of froze in the community mailboxes. I hope they will still grow. Thank you for the video, will try my best to follow directions to a T. Very excited!
Good afternoon, they should be fine! Put them in water for 2-4 weeks and if you have any complications please let us know and we will help you! Thank you!-Andrea
@@czgrain9705 Thank you, they are in water now.
We just received our cuttings a few days ago. Been soaking since and already rooting.
Wonderful!
Mine didn’t do well the first time, roots and leaves came but died in few days, but he send me another one in replacement, trying to grow that. Hope it will turn out good. Great customer service.
thank you very much for your purchase!!
i was wondering how long i can leave them in water. The bonus cuttings arrive with roots and you guys sent me 6 bonus cuttings! Thank you guys so much. Im hoping to get birch cuttings next.
He said you can leave em in water till you see roots. Then you can plant... or let em sit in water a little longer
Hi John I'm super excited I just received my Willow Bonsai today I wasn't expecting it for another week but received it during the full moon cycle of exactly when I wanted to plant it to watch it grow. Thank you so much for getting it out so quickly and having this awesome video available for your buyers. I may be buying more as gifts for friends!
Thanks very much for your comment and your purchase! Happy New Year!
Received my cuttings. They look great and I have them in water. Thanks!
You get from amazon ?
Glad you like them! Thanks for your business!
I purchased my willows and I am absolutely in love with them. They're my favorite trees, but Texas doesn't hold them very well so I had to do the next best thing. Thank you so much for providing them!
Hello! You're very welcome and thank you for your purchase!
-Cynthia
just received my dragon. the big one looks callused. so I have it a little deeper. about 5 inches in water with my salix from my other cuttings. it's a good size. the other looks great. i cant wait. thanks left a like
just got one 2 weeks ago is is growing like a weed doing great good buy
Hello! Thank you for the update and we are so happy your willow is thriving!
-Cynthia
A friend sent me these cuttings as a gift. There was a larger one and two smaller ones. Both have grown roots and leaves like crazy, but they've been in water for over a month, so I think it's time to plant. I'm intimidated 😬.
Good afternoon, that is great news! Yes you will want to plant them now! Use all natural soil or organic soil do not use miracle grow! You will want to pot them in separate containers! If you have any other questions you can email or call or text us at 641-203-0272 Thank you!-andrea
NGL I put them right in some miracle grow black organic and they’re a foot taller then the original cutting after 2months. Really appreciate the extra little guys that were included they all have proportional growth as well
Good morning, this is awesome to hear! Thank you for the update!-Andrea
I just ordered one from you guys on Amazon so I am looking forward to growing it in to a bonsai.
So cool, i just planted mine
Its already budding
Love it
Thanks very much!
Can you talk about wiring the willow bonsai to shape it?
there is a stage between when the brnaches are soft and stemmy and after about a month they get woody. that is the ideal time you can always wire hard wood but it takes more work. wiring too early can break the stemmy softwood. thanks for your comment!
I just got my willows from you over the last couple of weeks and put the first one in the soil that you recommended just today. I am so excited about them all. I do have one question though, on all the videos that I've seen you've been cutting the back because they've all grown straight up. When do they start to weep? Do I need to be doing something to encourage them to weep?
Hello! If you are wanting a little extra help with making them weep I would recommend watching our video titled "grow a living willow structure"
Alright mine just came today wish me luck going straight into 2inch water 😁
That's great! Thank you for the feedback!
AWESOME PRODUCT!!!!!
Thank you very much!!
@czgrain9705 so my first set you sent me did great in the water and did what was supposed to when then put into the suggested soil, the fox farm one, and then it died a few weeks later. You kindly sent me a second set and I did the same thi g, had good roots in the water. When transferred to the soil, it died almost immediately. I give up. Was so looking forward to this too. I don't know what am doing wrong but followed your instructions exactly that was with the orders. Don't think that soil you suggested works at all.
I didnt know you had a youtube channel I just bought one from you and literally second day of arrival bam roots
I'm not sure if this is the company that my roommate purchased the bun's eye for but we're too olderly. Gentlemen that have common knowledge of plants, but never a monzai, and I expected in juniper looking thing and got this big stick with some willow roots already started. We accidentally cut the instructions to the manzai. When we opened it and threw away. Have humphy instructions and I text the phone number available? Both and actually got a person to reply. Who was so down-to-earth? It surprised me and he was able to screenshot me the information I needed to get my buns. I started let's pray. I can get it going. In order some more bun's eyes as i'm really interested in it
Hello! Thank you very much for the positive feedback, we greatly appreciate you placing an order with us and giving bonsai growing a try. We are very glad to hear that our customer service representative could quickly provide the instructions for you to easily grow and care for your bonsai. Please feel free to reach out to us with any other questions or concerns, we are happy to help you through the wonderful process of growing these fabulous plants. Thanks again!
Can you make a video on wiring?
Also when can I trim the bonsai? Do I wait until winter?
We will work on making a video on wiring! You can begin trimming and pruning after a month of the cutting being planted to give it a bit of time to adjust to the environment.
I got your golden weeping willows and this was very helpful. I was wondering if you know if they are toxic or nontoxic to cats? I plan on keeping them away from my tree regardless, but it’d be nice to know.
They are non toxic to cats. I also know cats love them and will chew on them. They leaves have sugars in them. Thank you!!
they also have pain relievers. my cat chews on them all the time. they even try to drink the water.
I took a cutting and planted it in bonsai soil, watering it every day. That was 3 months ago and all I have is some leaves. I can't see how it grow more limbs. In fact it hasn't down much of anything for the last month.
We would be happy to help you with your cutting. Please reach out to us through the platform on which you made the purchase or you can call our office at (641) 203-0272
I got 3 different Willow stocks (2 Bonsai 3 Weeping & 3 Hybrid), from y’all approximately two weeks ago. They are all doing really well, with lots of roots & leaves sprouting, some of the leaves already 4-5 inches long! I just planted the two Bonsai Willows & one Hybrid Willow in 6” pots today using the soil you recommended. I’m waiting to plant the others later this week when I get some bigger pots for the Weeping Willows. I’m really happy with the results so far! I have one question tho... I live in the Northeast and was wondering if it would be okay to plant them in the ground this Spring or Summer, or should I wait until next Spring to plant outdoors?? Thanks!
I got a weeping willow and Im very excited! Its a gift for christmas and I’m just wondering how big it will get at its maximum size? Will it always be an indoor potted tree?
Hello, thank you for reaching out to us, we are so happy to hear your excitement! These trees will grow based upon the size of pot they are planted in. Therefore, you can keep these trees indoors or outdoors. It is completely your choice!
I ordered and received my Austrian weeping willow cuttings on Monday from your company and put them in water on Tuesday, today is friday and the cutting are pushing out tiny buds. I researched all videos on Utube for info on Willow Bonsai plants and found yours to be the most informative and to the point. John my question is I just purchased a grow light and want to make sure I give the plant adequate light. I purchased a good grow light that's height adjustable with 6 different light settings and a 4,8 and 12 hour timer. How many hours a day should I apply light to my plants and at what luminous setting should I use. Thank you in advance
Thanks so much! I would make sure its getting at least 5 hours of light a day. Full spectrum lighting is recommended as well! -Payton
Instructions say for the weeping willow cuttings to put them in water root side down. They didn’t arrive with roots, so I assume that end would be the one with the paper that was held in with the rubber band?
Good evening, that is correct. The side with the paper towel is the root side. If you have any further questions please inquire! Thank you so much for doing business with us!-Andrea
So I bought a willow cutting from you from Amazon. When I got the package in the mail, it had your papers and the links. I got a really thick cutting and a super thin one. I soaked them for about 3 weeks in water and it didn't seem to want to root well but it was leafing on top well at first....now I think that the thick cutting is dead all together. I watched your videos, I bought the specific soil, watered at the same time daily...wondering what I did wrong :(
They don’t need a dormancy? I noticed it around Christmas time and you also mentioned grow lights.
Bought the 3 pack on Ebay. Planted about 2 weeks ago and everything was looking great. My dragon seems to be suffering a little the leaves are starting to wilt and turn brown and eventually fall off. I water twice a day and recently started keeping them outside unless it rains. Could the heat be too much?
did you harden them off? introduce them to the outside sun slowly. like the first day only for an hour. next day 1.5 hours and so on? are they planted in soil or substrate?
@@michaelbahr7267 I used an organic soil. I did not introduce them slowly. I did however bring that one back in and let in soak in water a few days longer and it seems to be thriving now.
Hello, bought a willow cutting from you a few months back and everything was going great… long story short I run into the biggest issue when trying to pot it (the leaves wilt and the roots begin to die) is there something you can share with me to help in that process 0:55 ? Much appreciated
Hello! Sometimes they can wilt at first after rooting and planting. That is due mostly just to the move being hard on the plant. Usually if you baby it and give it plenty of water it will bounce back!
@@czgrain9705 appreciate the advice, I just received another batch I ordered from you today! I knew to this so I appreciate the advice
I do not generally leave comments supporting a company on RUclips. I purchased one of these and it did great until it didn't. The owner worked with me and even sent me another one in case this one doesn't make it. They care about the plants they send and they are beautiful.
Thank you for doing business with us and we appreciate you as our customer! Thank you for the feedback!
My cuttings from you I got on Friday and today is Sunday and they have black stuff that looks like mold growing on them. They were lost in the mail & it wasn’t your fault but they were warm & barely moist to the touch after having been lost for about a week. I’m not sure if this “ black stuff “ was normal but from what I’ve read is Willow Blight. Maybe that was just enough time to start growing mold while lost in the mail. What do I do now ? They’re corkscrew willow cuttings.
UPDATE: I ended up just separating them all and planting them in rich Black Gold compost (it was all I had ) and perlite. I figured it was better than letting the cuttings sit and rot in water. 🤷🏼♀️ Maybe sometimes it’s just better to plant them in moist soil right away? Nobody is answering my questions so I guess thanks for the cuttings I guess you’re all busy.
I just received my bonsai willow. One large branch piece around and 2” dia x 8” long and 2 very thin, almost twig like. Do I plant all or just the thick branch piece
Hello! I would root and plant all of them! They are just some extras we like to throw in with the thicker piece, the smaller ones are younger growths so they actually grow faster than the thicker ones but are a little less hardy.
I followed instructions. This video was very helpful.
3 weeks in my willows are browning, dying after spouting so fast 😢. I received 1 big and 5 thin stems.put them in glass jars.
What went wrong ?
Did you put them in soil yet and if so what kind of soil? Thank you!-Andrea
It's says I can use fox farms ocean forest . Can I use fox farms froggy soil ? Just got my cuttings today . 😊💚✌️ thanks
What about outside dirt? Is that good for it?
This is what I'm wondering also! It's all natural and no pesticides or anything...
I LOVE that your nine-year old helped you to make the video. Keep giving the young one the camera and you'll have a pro in no time. I just received my order and look forward to not killing it, lol. Where can I purchase the planter with the drip tray? Thanks!
We love including our family in the business! We sell pots with drip trays on Esty, here is a link to the listing:www.etsy.com/listing/873418869/one-xl-bonsai-pot-11-inch-drip-tray?ref=listings_manager_grid
Should the cuttings be rooted in water before planting? There are no roots on what I received.
I would recommend a good week and a half to two weeks in water without changing to root!
Hi, what soil should I buy for potting the cuttings? Any brand suggestions?
Is PRO-MIX a good medium to start a new rooting willow bonsai?
Hello! Yes, the PRO-MIX soil will do fine for this. Thanks!
Hi I purchased green weeping willow cuttings from you, and so far have noticed green little sproutes groing from the sides...are these the roots? Or should I keep it in water for longer??
The green buds are branches the white strings are roots
When should I start fertilizing and what should I use? What about wiring to get it into the shape we want? When should we start that process? My Plants are full of shoots that are getting about a foot long. But they are not hard like a branch. I can’t plant these outside. I have to keep them shaped for indoors as long as possible.
I did leave the stalks in water for 3 weeks but, after the 2 weeks is up where in which I was watering the weeping willow 2x a day? now at this point, how often should I water it (the weeping willow bonsai)?
mine in the soil is daily. these things can live in water
Thank you for my willow bonsai! I’ve planted in potting soil, when should I use bonsai soil?
One of my trees died but the other grew some great branches and leaves but they are starting to brown. I have it in almost full sunlight. Should I move it to a less sunny area? What do the trees like? Thanks in advance.
They like full sun, good soil like CZ Grain or Fox Farms Ocean Forest and lots of water and pot with drainage hole so the soil doesnt stay water logged. Let me know if you need a new one. Thanks!!
@@czgrain9705 I trimmed the one and took off the brown leaves. The other one is totally dead :( I used the soil you recommended. Hoping the other one survives! Having trouble finding how to prune the willow type bonsai I purchased from you.
I’m glad I found your YT page! I just bought some cuttings from you, and received them about a month ago. I wish mine were doing this good! I received 5 cuttings, and 2 have died while in water. Two are turning brown/black like the others did. I have one healthy branch cutting left! I don’t know what to do. I’ve followed your instructions to a T. Please HELP!
Hi, I am very sorry about this! Can you please tell what kind of soil you used to plant your cuttings and if the pot had draining holes?
Thanks for sharing the video. Great help. Who ever is recording this video could have done better job though.
You're very welcome, and we'll definitely work on that!
Thanks! It was our 10 year old son. He's learning, practicing, and hopefully improving :)
So I put mine in water as soon as they arrived. Do I keep them in just water for a couple weeks? And what type of soil should I not use? You said don't use miracle grow or anything that has something in it. Couldn't catch it in video.
Hello! Thank you for the comment, yes please keep them in water for 1-3 weeks until the roots have grown 2-3 inches long. Please use an organic soil with no added fertilizers or chemicals. Miracle Gro does tend to use these artificial fertilizer in their soil. We recommend our CZ Grain soil or Fox Farms Ocean Forest Blend. Thanks! -Tayah
So I thought that only the bottom root was supposed to be in water but turns it the whole, will my plant be ok??
I have poor eyesight and removed the paper towel without asking my spouse to read the directions to me. 😢Duh. On the cutting should branch or leaf scars be shaped like an isosceles triangle with the point down toward the root end?
Hey sir. I am probably doing something wrong but I have purchased two sets of cuttings from Amazon and I have put them in water and they roots so well but once I put them in soil( I have even bought the bonsai soil and fertilizer from Amazon), however within a month the leaves fall off and the nice green limbs turn brown and the plant ends up dying. I have bought a new starter pack on Amazon and was just seeing if you have more information care of cuttings with great root base and branches with leaves? What is a comfortable room temp in a home and can we put them outside in warm temperatures? Thanks for any information. Greatly appreciate it 😀. Keep up the great work! And yes thanks for the extra cuttings in my orders. Very much appreciated!!
Hi, I am very sorry about that! We strongly recommend waiting a year to use fertilizer for the cuttings because at their young stage they cannot withstand the chemical components that the fertilizers contain. I would suggest to plant the cuttings into an all natural bonsai soil without any added synthetic fertilizer for optimal growth. Thank you so much for doing business with us, we appreciate you as our loyal customer!
