  • This video is an update on a Corkscrew Willow I've had for about 7 years. It's also an introduction to another larger green corkscrew willow I picked up last summer, and a bunch of random cuttings that's I'm trying different styles and shapes with. Enjoy!

"Just stop touching it". That is my mantra when I work on my trees. I don't listen to myself.

Hey Mike, thanks for the shoutout! It is a weeping willow tree. And I was curious as to how they were doing. They are Looking great! Those fusion experiments are looking pretty cool! I want to try doing a bonsai where you fuse a bunch of Japanese maple seedlings together and each tree turns into the branches. Thanks for sharing 👍👍

Cork screw willow are also known as walking stick willows because the branches tend to look lieke walking sticks as they age... nice video.....my neighbor has 2 big willow trees in his yard....I'm regularly mowing down saplings...😅😅😅

Thank you! I didn't realize they were also called walking stick willows, but now that you mention it, I bet they would make cool looking walking sticks!

Thanks Kennet! I've had a few of them break my heart so far. I swore them off at one point, only to end up with a bunch more later.

love willows do you use frost covers for your trees?? I have a few willow cuttings 6weeks old and they are growing a lot every day,,the problem is we are about to go into winter, your advice would mean a lot, your channel inspired me to get into bonsai

Well thank you! I'm really glad to hear that, it means a lot. And no, I didn't use any frost cover, but I did bunch them all together and put a bunch of pine bark around them to protect the roots a bit from the cold. It mostly worked, though some of the younger cuttings died over the winter. Maybe half.

I know how you feel, my big corkscrew willow is not looking good. It hasn’t shown any buds yet and I can tell some of it has died. 😥

It's weird how they grow like crazy year after year and then out of nowhere, boom! Half of it dies for no reason.

You bet! I really like that tree, it's got a different type of personality than the other willows, (if that makes sense). I saw a video from Bjorn where he did a cool clump style Japanese maple!
