🌼 Off the silver screen, Daniela is a biologist interested in the ecology, behavior, and evolution of social insect societies, mainly honey bees and wood ants. She completed her doctorate (PhD) in honey bee genomics and behavior at the University of California, San Diego in 2022.
🌼 Currently, she is completing a UC Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California, Riverside with Dr. Jessica Purcell's research group, studying supergene evolution in a native wood ant.
🌼 Daniela strongly believes in the importance and value of science communication and education and strives to make science both accessible and enjoyable for a wide audience. Her science communication style is broadly influenced by theater, dance, spoken word, comedy, and telenovelas.
🌼 She is also currently working on developing STEAM educational programming for the incarcerated communities of southern California as part of a larger prison-industrial complex abolition project. She is interested in developing courses that use zines as learning tools to promote interactive engagement with scientific topics.
🌼 When she’s not analyzing DNA sequences, you can find her papercrafting, gardening, foraging for wild mushrooms, hiking in Death Valley, or looking for horned lizards in San Diego's beautiful chaparral and desert regions.

Hi Daniela!!! I know this was filmed a while ago. What did end up happening with that job opportunity? I LOVE, LOVE everything you got at the thrift store!!! I wish I could go thrift store shopping with you. I love thrift store shopping. I never find great stuff like you just did. All those shoes are amazing! I want that statement purse with the buckle that is weaved or whatever! If you ever want to sell it, let me know! My favorite colors are pastel also. I haven't looked at that planner by Heather Kell, but I can see you are going to love it. So many awesome things you found! I kept getting so excited as you pulled out even more and more great finds! I know there is another item or so that I want to comment about, and now I can't remember. darn it. haha I really love how you have your own style, and own it! I do like that vintage blouse you found, and I think it is great for the office! So exciting! 🎡I know one of them was the honey bee necklace! You have to wear that to work one day on a bee day when it is appropriate! lol

I know God has a plan for me and will put me in the best position to do his work. I love that you love thrifting too! It really is so much fun, I love the thrill of the hunt and also I always find the coolest, most unique things! We should definitely go thrifting together if we're ever in the same city! Yess, pastels are so lovely, they really make my heart sing. They're just so soft and calming and they make me feel all calm and happy. I definitely think they improve my mood and that's why I wear them all the time. And that's why I absolutely fell in love with the Kell of a Plan Teacher planner, the pastels are simply gorgeous in that planner. And I also had to pre-order MoJoJo Plans Pastel Boxes Bundle! Ahh isn't it!? It's so pastel and whimsical! I love it so much!! And yess goodwills can be SO different depending on the town. The one near me is pretty good but if I want a REALLY good GoodWill experience I'll drive an hour to the more ritzy beach towns lol And yes I ended up not getting the job but as I said it's important to just try! 🩷🩷
Love the haul! I think the size 4 boots means they're kids size. Because I wear a 7.5 or 8 but can wear kids 4 or 5 from Walmart 😁
Ooh that makes sense! Good to know, I can't believe a size 4 kids is similar to a size 7 in women's! The sizing doesn't make sense to me...does that mean a size 10-11 is like a kid's size 1??
