      Hi Dave, Thanks for watching & the comment. Just realised your the same Dave who commented on the Mutt video so a double thanks! I volunteer at the National Motorcycle Museum here in Birmingham & we have a few of the early Thunderbirds in there, they are beautiful machines you must really enjoy riding that. Thanks again & ride safe.

    Had my Bonnie now for 16 years and not a bit of bother apart from new tyres every now and again.
    Terrific bikes.

      Hi, Thanks for watching & the comment. I agree 100%, yours must be a carbed model then. Mine is one of the first EFI models but other than fuel injection it has no other aids at all. Just uploading a video on how I keep mine protected during winter months, it will be live in a couple of hours, have a look & see if you agree. Thanks again, ride safe.

      I should have added that the Bonnie is kept outside under an ordinary fabric cover all year round.
      She's not exactly "concours de elegance" but reliabilty is preferable to looks.
      The only problem now is I'm 82 and she's getting a little heavy to manouevre manually.

    • @fixtrixgrandpop
      @fixtrixgrandpop  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi, Fair play to you (sorry don't know your name). Hope I'm still riding & active at 82. Agree they are a bit heavy, I had to carefully "lay" mine on it side a few weeks ago whilst manoeuvring & get help to pick it up again. Keep going mate your an example to all of us.
      Regards, Paul.

    Thank you so much for that excellent video. (subscribed). What a smart bike. I'm looking at Bonneville videos to try and get a handle on the different models and differences by year - still a long way off choosing a favourite. I take it yours is fuel injection if you have had re-maps but the carb looked real.

    • @fixtrixgrandpop
      @fixtrixgrandpop  Месяц назад +1

      Hi, thank you for your subscription and comment. I love mine as you can probably gather. Yes mine is one of the first injected ones, started 2008 I believe. Good luck on choosing a model, there are so many now. If I where buying now I would consider the 1200 models for that bit of extra power (handy with a pillion) and the 6th gear.
      Thanks again & ride safe.

      Hi, Thank you for watching & your comment. As I mentioned in the video I don't ride the machine to it's limits so have not yet noticed a need for one. I know several manufacturers make them for the Bonnie & may consider one if I notice the need in the future. How do you feel it has improved you Bonnie?

      Hi Rob, Thanks very much for the comment & especially the Sub, it helps enormously. As I've said before on the Chanell, I enjoy the maintenance & the modifications as much as riding the Bonnie & it sounds like your the same. Bet there's not two Bonneville's (or any other marque's) out there as they left the factory. I have kept every single original part I have taken off though, just in case someone decides to put it back to standard in the future, (it won't be me though).Thanks again & Ride safe.

    Good video Paul. I have a 2012 bonnerville SE. Only had it a few months, removed the AIS. It came with the Arrow 2 into 1 but no baffle. Like you say, way too noisy. Could not get any in Australia. So I made a couple out of aluminum ( I have a lathe) and they work ok but I would like to see a photo of your one. The two I made are 160mm long, the first has 15 6mm holes the second 18mm holes, and there is a difference. I find the 18 better. I've just ordered the progressive fork springs from TEC Bike Parts, UK. And like you will be removing the two OS. My other bike is a Suzuki Bandit 1250 which Ive had for 9 years and will keep. My first Triumph I bought in 1959 a T110. (650) and rode it all over North Wales where I lived at the time. So, its good to be back on a Triumph again!! Take care. keep riding. Graham, Bundaberg, Australia.

      @fixtrixgrandpop  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi Graham, Thanks for the comments. I will send a pic, but give me a couple of days as I'm out riding for a couple of days. Removing the O2 sensors smooths the throttle response out a bit more as well. You mentioned your Bandit, did you know Triumph made a Bandit back in 1970? I volunteer at the National Motorcycle Museum & there is one there. They never made it past the prototype stage, only 5 known to exist. 350cc, twin o'head cams, 5 gears! Anyway will sort out some pics as soon a I can. Ride safe.

    I came across a 2004. I do wish i was prepared to jump on it. A 20 year old bike. It has its upgrades. What i like about it is i have noticed that it is all mechanical.Spedo carburetors etc. i suppose it has an electronic ignition. To me this equated to an HEI system. A definate plus. I knew a guy some twenty years ago with essentially the same bike. Rode great i rode it a few times. As if it was mine. In my youth i ran around for a summer a 67 BSA 250 single. Keen little thumper.

      Hi, It was the simplicity of my Bonnie that attracted me to it in the first place. No aids, no ABS etc, not even a rev counter, just have to feel when to change up or down & get a feel for the machine. Ride safe.

    I am grateful for the time you put into the video detail Paul. 100% agree about slippage on white lines in the wet (even with a brand new back Metzler tyre!). I have the Bonneville 865 2012 version and have so far put a comfort seat and progressive springs on front and that combined has made a big difference for me. I have similar back rack and pannier rails and am looking forward to adding the extra pieces you have added including levers, mirrors, bobbins, phone holder etc. Biggest problem I have with the bike is that it is too quiet and yes, like your good self I do not want to upset the neighbourhood when I get up 5am for work. Would you have any thoughts on the Zard slip on exhausts? I love the bike, but very disappointed in the sound, not sure about 2 into 1 Tec exhaust, especially the discolouration? I love the look of the stock pipes, but the sound is so tame, guess would love best of both worlds!

    • @fixtrixgrandpop
      @fixtrixgrandpop  3 месяца назад +1

      @mrpaulie45able hi, thanks for taking the time to comment. I did look at the card system. It looks fantastic and I believe it sounds the same, the big stumbling block for me was the price. If your not sure about the 2 > 1 system, Tec do the 2 > 2 system as well. That one is also tunable by shortening the baffles. The good thing about these Bonnie's is that there are plenty of options out there. In my opinion that's one of the great things about biking, everyone has there own idea. Bet there aren't two Bonnie's out there the same. Ride safe 👍

    Hi Paul, thanks for the video - a lovely looking bike. Do you know if there's a conversion for the front brake reservoir to make it more like the low profile T100 reservoir?

    • @fixtrixgrandpop
      @fixtrixgrandpop  7 дней назад

      Hi, thank you for watching and your comment. I am sure there is a replacement reservoir, some people do say the standard one is a bit ugly although it hasn't bothered me up until more people have mentioned it! As it is only a reservoir I don't think it is a problem to use another one of a different model. I will look into it & let you know what I come up with. I suspect Motone Customs would be a good place to start.
      Thanks again & ride safe.

    Hello there Bud , I've just come across your channel , yu tube probably directed me because of the Bonneville , then I realised you don't sound a million miles from me (maybe a bit Brummyfied but no one's perfect 😏) I also ride a T100 but I've been using it every day and it's becoming very abused

    Very helpful thanks, do you need to use the spacers on the rectifier guard or are they optional?

    • @fixtrixgrandpop
      @fixtrixgrandpop  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Arthur, Thanks for watching the video & your comment. Couldn't remember whether I used the spacers or not, it's been a while now since I fitted it. Just been out & checked & yes you do have to use the spacer as the mounting holes in the regulator/rectifier are recessed so without the spacers fitted between the guard & the reg/rec the guard would distort when screws where tightened. The longer screws were also included in the kit if I remember correctly. Hope that helps.
      Thanks again & ride safe.

      Hi, Thanks for watching & your comment. I did mention the Meriden logo in the video. It is a "British Customs" seat manufactured specifically for the Hinkley Bonnie so not sure why they didn't use the later style logo to match the one on the tank.

    People swap out ther vehicles too soon. The they need to refamiliarise themselvs all over again.i dont feal safe about this. Not evrybody is aware of ther vehicles to begin with though. They need transportation and dont have time for this type of thing. The brake pads the tyre swap. These things are typical of quite a few production vehicles. A great confidence builder especially on a motorcycle.

      Hi James, Thanks for watching the video & the comment. Your right, some people don't always get to know & understand there bikes. All manufacturers have to make there machines to a competitive price or they wouldn't sell and that means using average components in some areas, it's up to the owner to modify or live with it. That's what I like about biking, we're all different. Ride safe.
