Modern Classic a Future Classic? Triumph Speedmaster Chrome Edition Motorcycle. Cinematic Review!

- Опубликовано: 20 окт 2024
- We review the new 2023 Triumph Speedmaster Chrome Edition Motorbike. This was our favourite Bonneville until we rode the Triumph Bonneville Scrambler 1200 XC last year, BUT, has the Ol' Man changed his mind?
This review is a little different from our usual reviews, and rather than go into all the specs, we focus entirely on the emotive sentiments of the riding experience, and what the bike feels like. Filmed in spectacular scenery in North Wales, this is a must see video for all motorcycle enthusiasts!
The Ol' Man meets some cows, a horse and eats fish & chips. You can get a very good impression of what this modern classic motorcycle sounds like in this film. Turn up the speakers!
If you have made money, and as a result, have some disposable income, you may look at buying a motorcycle to invest your money in, and if you choose wisely, you may find the right bike that becomes a future classic, and actually, over time, appreciates in value. As we are entering a new era, with electric vehicles becoming more and more prevalent, the choice motorbikes of today, could be the valuable classics of tomorow. You could of course invest in gold, silver, stocks and shares or bonds, but a motorcycle is much more fun!!! This is not financial advice but merely our opinion. Choose wisely!
Check out RedAng Revival for info on long-term ownership of the Triumph Speedmaster Bonneville, and for his great reviews! @redangrevival

This video here has made me switch from getting a RE Super Meteor 650 or Indian Scout or Iron 883 to getting this bike. The Bonneville Speedmaster is easily top 5 best looking bikes in my opinion.
Totally agree- this is my favourite Triumph. Very possibly my favourite bike, full stop
You and the Ol’ Man’s videos are why I own one, so thank you! Your two videos about the speedmaster are so good. I have seen all of your videos, but I have watched those particular ones multiple times.
As a fan of your channel with a '21 plate Speedmaster, I am pleased and heartened to see you Big up 'Red Ang Revival.' I agree, he rides big miles in all weathers and offers a lot of real world opinion and advice. He is also a champion of men's mental health. Keep on doing your thing your way. Cheers.
I've had great weather the past few days here in Texas and have been lucky enough to ride mine daily since last Friday. I fall back in love with it each time I hop on it. I'm also 6'2" and it doesn't feel small at all, I much prefer it over my old HD Duce.
This is how a Review should look like, this was fantastic.
No annoying music to artificially enhance or create emotions, no spec sheet, just an experienced Guy telling us a STORY about the Bike. Riding a Bike is not about Specs, it's about feelings. Great Review, you earned yourself a like and a new subscriber.
P.S. Loved how you gave a shoutout to a fellow youtuber.
Thanks buddy. Welcome aboard 👍🏼
A soulful review of a soulful bike. Great to watch. Just as a note on quality, I did the Triumph factory tour recently and one of the amazing facts was that they machine their crankshafts to a tolerance of one micron. That’s one thousandth of a millimetre! Incredible.
B-eautiful, my favourite Triumph too! Well worth the red-carpet treatment, wonderful cinematography! Thanks so much for 13 minutes of pure bliss. 👏
You did it again , 3 Speedmaster vids , it’s a testament to the beauty and quality of this machine, I’m loving my Gold Line Addition immensely, thank you again from SF California. Mike
I just picked up my new Speedmaster last weekend, based largely on all the positive reviews on RUclips (especially yours). You're spot on about this bike: beautiful, comfortable, great handling, power when you need it. Thanks for your terrific videos -- keep up the good work!
Congratulations mate, wishing many happy years on that bike.
Great to hear!
Very tall man rides a beautiful bike and appreciates cows.
Great review as always.
I’ve had my SpeedMaster for 2 yrs. now and I have to agree with everything you said. I is most definitely my favorite bike that I’ve ever owned and I’ve been riding for over 50 yrs. Love you channel.
Hear Hear 👏 I couldn't agree more! Such a stunning bike and it soothes the soul. What a lovely video.
Thanks so much for the shout out I really appreciate it 🙌
Hope the legs holding up well, bring on the good weather 😁
Any time! 👍🏼👍🏼
You two are who inspired me to get my Speedmaster Gold Line !
@@michaelpina1858 Thanks thats great to hear. Hope you are loving it 🤙
Awesome 👍🏼
Great to see the Chrome editions out and love your video today on this bike, nice to see some finer weather again. I spotted a Black and chrome one in Youles a few weeks ago, stunning bike and very well built. love my Bonneville T120 as you know. 👍
We’ve got a T120 booked. I’m worried that it’ll take over! Yours looks stunning 👌🏼
Another speedmaster lover - clearly a man of taste and sophistication. I got one a couple of years ago and can honestly say I have no regrets - an absolute joy to ride and to look at when you stop riding it. Thank you for this little love letter to a magnificent machine.
You sir were the deciding factor in me purchasing a new 2023 Bonneville Speedmaster today got it in the black and white.. I traded my 2011 Rocket 3 roadster as I wanted to downsize as my age 61..and arthritis dictated.. I bought the rocket a few years ago with the idea of riding it a few years the either flipping it or trading it in.but I've always loved British bikes for being smaller and good handling...the test drive on the speedometer which I must say the 1200 motor has all the power I need for my type of riding and the seating position is pretty comfortable...I don't do a lot of two up riding so that's not really a factor...and what I love about this bike is it has just the few options I wanted...I did order it with the windshield and nothing else and just plan to strap a round bag on the back for the few items i like to carry ...love your videos and reviews
Great comments Stephen after a rocket 3.
I'm going to go bankrupt watching your bike reviews. thank you for a lovely video and the various temptations found within.
I absolutely loved my Speedmaster when I had it and your comments and perspective in this video are excellent ! You’re a real enthusiast not just a RUclipsr 👍
Many thanks 😊
Great video and cheers from the USA! Love your energy and passion. Great bike. In the US, I think maybe the egos of some prospective buyers get in the way of purchasing this bike. As a veteran rider and Triumph fan, I wish more riders had an honest conversation with themselves and asked “Why do I really ride?” To impress others with massive CCs or overall size? Is it for the adrenaline? No, I don’t want to ride as a hooligan either! It’s about freedom and the grin factor for me. So buy the bike - you have nothing to prove!
I recently passed my test and was planning on buying a smaller bike such as the Royal Enfield classic 350 to gain experience and eventually work my way up to something bigger. But then the Triumph garage right across the street got a Speedmaster in stock... after walking in just to take a look, I walked out as the new owner. It was just too beautiful not to buy, and I don't regret it one bit! It's a big engine, but not ridiculous power for a new rider. And as you mentioned, it gets constant compliments and onlookers every time I take it out.
I have a red 2021 Speedmaster.
I am 5'9" so it fits me perfectly.
I enjoy your videos and appreciate the soul of how you present.
Your videos are wonderful to watch. You have enthusiasm. I will be 72 this year riding since 16. Your videos take me places. Thank you
Oh my, why not a double clock like my t100? That's ridiculously beautiful. Not this single plastic one
Weird that isn't it, the t100 ones are lovely. I do wonder what these speed master handlebars would look like on a t100 though!?
I always like they way you present the description about the bikes and instead of specs you always explain about the how the bike performs and how it feels while driving, which really matters lot.
Thank you! Much appreciated 👍🏼👍🏼
I really believe that this type of bike should not be chain driven. Surely Triumph could upgrade this model to a belt drive fairly easily.
Why do you think it should be belt driven?
@@patrickking9600 Ease of maintenance and reliability. Lubing and adjusting the chain on a heavy bike with no center stand is an unnecessary hassle. Belts are clean, light, and require very little maintenance.
They made the thunderbird 1600/1700 belt driven so they couldve done with this
I love my Speedy!
Reduces horsepower to the wheel though. Chain is the most efficient way to transfer power, belt is in second, shaft drive is third.
I appreciate your review and enjoy seeing that beautiful country side.
I just picked up a 2022 Speedmaster with under 200 miles on it last week. I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far.
Keep these great videos coming.
✌🏼🤟🏼🤙🏼
I bought my speedmaster chrome edition just over 2 weeks ago. I use it for my daily commute and I have to say I love it. It handles beautifully and is a real pleasure to ride. Great review.
I love how you describe the beauty of this great motorcycle for 13 straight minutes and I believe that’s too not enough. I mean there are literally not enough words to describe how gorgeous this motorcycle is. Great video and the interactions with the cows were lovely too.
T120 Bonnies are beautiful bikes, I loved mine and was heartbroken when I traded it. I rode the Speedmaster last year and it was as you say gorgeous, my only gripe is that at 6 foot+ I felt it wasn't big enough, I don't like forward controls and hate the Mickey mouse mirrors, I always put bar ends on my T100 and T120. Triumph quality and modern tech is indeed superior and every bit as good as my HD Low Rider S and better than most. I'll always love these English beauties.
Late to comment but this is such a great video. The atmosphere, the feeling you get from this sort of a bike and beautiful countryside. It captures the essence of why motorcycling is so great. Also, extra points for all the lovely animals. Someone clearly has a big heart.
Thank you and pleased you enjoyed it 👍🏼
just picked up my chrome speedmaster this week, and in a few weeks, I am going for a trip to the WA from Brisbane a 8 thousand KM round trip.
Awesome enjoy 😉
I subscribe to all the major motorcycle channels. I like your reviews the most - it's the animals, the beautiful country setting, your presentation style and vibes in general and importantly you focus on your riding experience and not the technical specs. Also, too many of these channels are run by dwarfish bike nerds that I just don't relate to. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much! That was a great review! I am torn between the speedmaster and the T120. Thanks again!
The editting in this video was truly remarkable, high praise all the way 🙌🙌🙌 Thank you for a beautiful and insightful video!
Nice shout out to @RedAngRevival! He's a nice bloke (we met/rode at the last London DGR) and it's a good channel.
If I may blow my own trumpet, you can see a few vids of my Speedmaster on my channel - more to come too.
Re. the Speedmaster, you're right about the suspension. Also the tank-fuel-range is quite low (maybe 120 miles).
I recently tried the Royal Enfield Super Meteor wondering if it would solve those issues and tempt me away from the Speedmaster, but no. It's a good bike, but it's not as good a riding position or as characterful or as satisfying or as good looking as the Speedmaster.
I will be sticking with it. There really is nothing like it. I love it more every time I ride it. I had no bad thoughts about the Super Meteor when riding it, but when I got off and back on my Speedmaster, there was really no temptation to get the Super Meteor.
Great video about the Speedmaster! I'm entering season 3 with my 2021 Speedmaster and the bike is fantastic. A lot of customization is possible, so it makes the Speedmaster even more fun. I never tire looking at the design and quality features.
Near the end of the video it looked like those cows are just waiting by the side of their field for someone to shoot the breeze with them🙂. That was a very kind mention by you of RedAngs channel. I've been a subscriber to his channel for some time now. Great content on there by him.
Beauty is 100% everlasting, and you’re correct this bike will still be beautiful 50 or even 80 years on from now. What is “cool” by contrast can change as often as every week…
Absolutely my favorite bike right now! I sat one the other day at the dealership and it fits me better than any other bike...I'm 5'8" with 30" inseam. I was on this exact bike color scheme. Was surprised this dealer leaves their bikes out in the element's day after day with no sun/rain protection. I agree with Darcy the clock on this one is cheap as hell. The one at the dealer was actually damaged...dented at the top where it says Bonneville and scratched plastic dial. When you spend $14k or almost $16k after tax, title, and licensing (new) ...we expect more attention to detail bro. I did find one used online for much cheaper...$8K with 750 miles on the clock, 2022 version, which keep in mind these are unchanged in design for last 5 years.
I just bought one! Get it next week!!!! Thank you for your review! Firmed up my decision!
Hopefully I'm getting mine tomorrow. How you getting on with yours?
@@paulyflyer8154 it is an absolute dream!!!!! I love it. My first Triumph!
I love his comment “you can’t ride gold”, but the SpeedMaster feels like gold!!! 😊
@barbbrown4713 that's good. Glad it's gone well for you! I've just this minute picked mine up and rode it home...those forward controls take some getting used to, but I'm sure I'll get it into muscle memory eventually!
Triumph has mastered the art of keeping the old school classic looks while implementing new technology.
I tell you what. The Triumph Speedmaster will most definitely be a classic bike in 30-40 years time not just 20 -30 Think of them of an investment. I think they would increase in value if kept in mint condition. Easily a Classic of the future. Just as long as they do not over produce them and reduce quality etc. Great review for a great bike.
I've had wet dreams about the speedmaster for years. True beauty.
I started out on a 1968 T100 in 1977 at a very young age, I'm 68 today and still have triumph in my garage, I have 2 actually, a 1968 bonneville and a 1970 tr6 tiger, I very much want to try out one of the modern Hinckley triumphs, the look and sound are almost magical to a old guy like me,
Thank you for doing these videos. My favorite motorcycling channel.
Wonderful! I’ve ordered a new one (regular version), should be with me at end of May, can’t wait! Love the content, keep up the brilliant work.
That was good. Thank you. That's what riding a Motorbike is about.
Well, after 27 years of abstinence I decided to ride again. So my decision was to buy a speedmaster. I took a testride and I felt in shock love with this bike. I`m close to 6'4'' and have no problems with the handlebar or that I´m too big for it. It´s a fine art of british engeneering and style building. I bought in march this year a "Jet Black" one and can´t get enough of it. Next month I´m retired and I know what to do. Collecting miles.🙃Keep on going with your great videos. Greetings from Hamburg, Germany
I like Harley Road Kings but at 65 they are just too heavy. Liked your feedback a lot Franko as I decide. Thanks from New Zealand.
The Speedmaster would be a wonderful addition to my garage. They are just beautiful!
Hi I had every intention of ordering a Triumph Bobber however after watching all of your Speedmaster reviews I have bought one and luckily the dealer had on in stock the Chrome edition. Happy Days 😊
I have one & you right about it being a talking point,I travel on my own ,& the bike attracts attention everywhere we go,I’m doing the Scotland coast in 4 weeks ,got all the kit motorway screen bags ,the bike is so easy to ride & she pulls too,I also follow red Angus.
Hello, I own a 2023 Speedmaster and love it and agree with everything you say in this video. The only negative I have found with the bike is that it doesn't have a USB charging port anywhere! Aside from that it's a beautiful machine!
This is my 2nd season riding my '22 Speedmaster. From upstate New York, love this bike.
I have a 2020 great bike no problems
Rolled 52k miles on my 1200 Thruxton yesterday. You'd never know it wasn't still brand new. Simple, wonderful lump. I fear it will outlive me by a good margin.
Beautiful scenery, beautiful bike and beautiful review. Regards from Malaysia
Well, this Bonneville family from triumph is exactly a stunning effort of mechanics , technology and creativity design that is respectful to the classic standards but bettering everything. If it would be possible I would have the complete collection of it.
The one thing that popped from this video is your helmet . It wicked beautiful! Is it a personalized decoration or is it a specific paint job from the manufacturer? Thank you✌️✌️
That countryside is so beautiful. What a great area to ride.
Hi thanks for the lovely video, always emotive and inspiring you touch on the things about biking that I love and I'm sure lots of others. As a Triumph America rider I can definitely see me upgrading to the new speedy.
I agree with you about Redang revival really cool channel he reviews loads of bikes.
Gorgeous bike! I'm in love with the Speed/Street Twins but this one is another that when I look at it i just want to go buy one. Love the design.
I was at Triumph store in İstanbul today and I examined the bike inside out. It is not small by any means. My good man here is gigantic 😂
Great review btw!
Efendim! I'm over by Osmanbey metro. Can you tell me where your dealer is located? Tkkur!
Very nice work on this video by the way. I’m unsubscribing from many channels that are just really more marketing but I’ll be here for the long run. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely beautiful looking bike, sounds fantastic and that chrome edition, wow looks fantastic.
Great video as always.
This Bonneville wasn't on my radar until now. A great video, it even made me miss the UK!
Glad you enjoyed it! It really is a superb bike 👌🏻 new review of it coming very soon!!
Looks awesome in the chrome and red ❤❤❤
Beautiful Bike!!! I love Triumph!!!❤ Thank you so much for your very nice video!!!👍 Have a good day!!! Ride Safe!!! Jean-louis in west France😉✌
The Speedmaster is probably my dream bike. It has that classic look, is still a cruiser but it doesn't have that Americana look (which is a positive for me).
I agree, getting on a bike is just therapeutic. I don't want to ride at 100miles a second. Get on your ride, take the back roads and blast. I usually get lost for a day or two. The Speedmaster is perfect for this type of riding, that's why the Speedmaster is my favorite Triumph. It's just a nice ride. Thanks for the review!
Very nice video, beautiful shots and editing, I really love this kind of reviews that mix pure motorcycle stuff with beautiful scenery, country side atmosphere, horses and cows… That’s also why I got into motorcycling one year ago (I’m 39). And my first (and current) bike is a Triumph Bonneville of course! The speedmaster is my favourite and I hope to get one someday. Continue in this direction with your reviews, this is so pleasant! Thanks and ride safe ✌️
Thanks very much. Yes it’s definitely the way we intend to make the videos from now on 👍🏼
7:33 love the reflection of the trees and the sky on the tank 😍
Thank you for your in depth review of how the ride of this motorcycle is. This really helped. Very well done video. Since you have so much riding experience sir, I was wondering to hear your opinion on - if dresser or crash bars are worth putting on a Speedmaster.
I would not get them as it spoils the look 👍🏼
I have the 2023 black and white speedmaster. I put the smaller, black dresser bars to protect the engine. They are much more subtle than the chrome ones. I feel like they suit the bike
Another modern classic, that's perhaps overlooked and that's the Kawasaki W800 Street, all blacked out of course. Early models didn't really grab me, but in 2023 ... wow, definitely enticing. If it only had belt drive!
I love this bike. I have Harleys but this is my favorite British bike. Hell yeah!!!
Hi.
Lovely bike, great review. I completely agree about Redang Revival. Angus has a bloke chatting about bikes in a pub style. Very good channel as well as yours.
This is what you call a proper review of a motorcycle ! Such a satisfying review to watch ! it definitely satisfied my soul ! Thank you !
I’m a Triumph (modern retro) fan boy. I’ve owned the Street Cup, the Speed Twin and currently own a T100 & an xe. The parallel twin engines in these are silky smooth through the gears and have plenty of go, especially the 1200s. If you want a cruiser style bike, the Speedmaster here is definitely worth considering over a Harley and it’s British owned 🇬🇧
@Volcanic Brown I’m lead to believe parts are manufactured not only in the UK but all over the World now.
@Volcanic Brown It doesn’t bother me where the bikes are made. They are a quality build. The fit and finish far superior to say the Royal Enfields however you are paying a premium for that.
@Volcanic Brown You stick with your Royal Enfield’s and I’ll keep with my Triumphs. Thank you.
Your vdo quality is sublime. I love to see the Speedmaster from many angles. Such a beauty.
Love the looks and feel of the bike. It is stunning. But Triumph...why the chain drive? Thought of cleaning greased up from chain chrome spokes gives me nightmares.
Chain maintenance is just one of those things you have to learn to 'enjoy' when you get a 'classic' bike. The chain is one thing. All the chrome is another, especially the spokes!
I had a 2007 Speedmaster. Last carby model. I liked it, but due to a back issue, friends all giving up their riding and having to travel at least an hour to find some interesting roads (that aren’t also in need of repair) I sold it a few years ago. I miss it. You’re almost convincing me to make another purchase.
Love that sound
Well as I was considering cutting the video short I saw the beautiful closeup of cows. At that point I was hooked and watched the entire video. Then I hit ‘like’ and subscribed. Of course the bike is gorgeous but the cows won me over.
Welcome aboard. Cows, sheep and horses often make appearances in our videos 👌🏼
I had to put a different saddle on mine and have done numerous 10/11 hour days on it and loved every minute. And you’re right. It is beautiful bike.
I had the air cooled version few years ago I wish they did an alloy wheel version
Beautifully done video and beautiful looking machine
I love the chrome and eh beautiful
Animals again 👌👌👌👍👍
thing i feel when watching your reviews is always real excitement about riding in general with makes watching easier
I love the chrome theme with the bonnevilles this year. I traded in my 2022 thruxton for a chrome 2023 thruxton, lol. If they did some sort of chrome thing with the speed triples this year I would've done the same thing.
I was going to trade my 2016 Thruxton R for a Chrome edition RS but in the end I just decided I did not like the blacked out treatment of the engine casings and wheels. My 2016 is in the gloss metallic silver and still looks better than all the new edition Thruxton's.
I will tell you in 20 years (I’ll be in my 80’s) if my 2022 Goldline Speedmaster went up in value. I expect it will, but I still won’t sell it. It is the perfect motorcycle for me, and to paraphrase you - for anyone.
You do live in Paradise. Stunning landscapes, tame animals, placid quiet stretches of absolutely jaw dropping green. I really missed these moments. Fly low over and through it on those beautiful classic looking machines and you hit Nirvana. And I dare say, risking sounding immodest, that that bike is even more beautiful than the rest, for if I sit on it and look down I will contemplate my own reflection. 😳 Dead gorgeous bike indeed. 😛
Cheers mate. All the best for you and your loved ones.
Love this review you are a honest and down to earth gentlemen pick my chrome edition up on Thursday. 😀🤟
Functional ART beautiful.
I'm really close to buying this bike in that same colour scheme. Nice review! 🍻
Many thanks 😊
@MrDarcy-OlMan I took delivery yesterday. I've only had a little time behind the bars but I'm already loving it! Good to feel some nice vibration too, which is sadly missing from many bikes today. Cheers! 🍻
Lovely scenery and commentary - nicely encapsulates what motorcycling is all about
My favourite Triumph. 👍
Great video and very well said. I completely agree it is a stunning motorcycle especially in the chrome edition. However, I fell in love with the Scrambler XE and so thats the one I bought. 🙂
Hello! I would like to comment a bit about the suspensions. The rear spring is adjustable and has 7 positions in total. I have mine fully tightened and even when i load the motorcycle close to the limit stated in the manual, the rear suspension does not reach it's limit on bumpy roads. Mine came softened all the way at position 1 from the factory. Another thing that nobody reviewing this motorcycle talks about, is how easy it is to remove the seat and quickly adjust the suspension with the hook tool located under the seat. I am sure many people would look at Speedmaster with a different eye if they knew all this. Also, the handle bar laid-back position in combination with the low center of gravity make it very easy to turn, no matter how tight the road is. If you make it higher, you mess the center of gravity and then we would lose what makes this bike so special.
You are right about the front suspension, though. It's travel is very short and it is quite soft. If could change some things on this motorcycle, i would make the front suspension tighter, make it air-cooled and with removable exhaust silencers.
What a great review of this motorcycle. After watching a few of your videos, you’re definitely the British version of me. My hooligan riding days are far behind me and my rides are like yours - just relaxing rides through the countryside. I’ve been looking at a Bonneville as a 2nd bike to my Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic and thought it would be the T120 or maybe I’d get a wild hair and get the Tiger 660, but these Speedmasters are classics for sure and now I’m re-thinking my choice. Thanks for sharing how the bike feels to ride. I agree with you that the Chrome edition is stunning. Keep up the good work and I really enjoy your channel. Ride safe!
Great to meet you on Sunday and thanks for recommending this review, I feel I really need one of these for my vehicle collection 😂 Not sure the missus will agree!
You too! You could have plenty of space to put it😉
Very nice footage, love the locations and the passion/effort you put in order to introduce to us this amazing motorcycle. I own a Scramble 1200 XE, and i am now tempted to switch over to the Speedmaster. It is always a pleasure to watch your videos Sir. Best greetings from the Dolomites, North Italy.
Awesome motobike and you review woooow , now I want even more to buy my Speedmaster red & chrome 😎👍🏍 greetings from Mexico🇲🇽
Took my test last July , bought ( and love) my Triumph Trident 660 , rode a Speed Twin 900 and fell in love with that ( better for me as I’m a short ass and my partner enjoys coming out ) and it’s pretty , the Trident isn’t. I’ve just seen one of these on the road and cannot believe how cool it is . A little out of my price range , shall I just save up for a bit and get one ?
I’m going to send this video to my wife to help her see why I need a new bike, haha
Lovely quality video and review, I really like this bike and I might even get one..
