  • Just rolled in. Customer states won't charge and has EV systems error.
    Ned gets the big engineer tools out to remove and repair a Leaf traction battery with a leaky module. Leafs are super reliable but as more and more are on our roads they will occasionally need some help and DriveEV Service is only too glad to assist. No need to replace the whole pack when only one module is faulty but you do need to be super careful and use the right tools.. #Nissan #leaf #EV #electricvehicle #whataboutthebatteries not #dodge or #ram

    Great video, but lacks a little bit of information.
    What was the state of this Leaf? How many miles? Which year model? What was it's use case? Did the owner rapid charge a lot?
    And finally, everybody understands the price of every repair will be different but you could have mentioned what it cost in this case or at least give some ballpark number.
    Thanks & keep sharing ❤

    Great video you make it look easy. Being that leaf looks newer was there not a factory warranty ?

    • @driveev441
      @driveev441  10 месяцев назад +4

      Nissan will not honour warranties on import cars. Wah-wah.
      Thankfully all cars bought from Drive EV have a 3 year Battery and High Voltage warranty!

    Excellent work! I am little bit scary the Leaf II is young car, so why battery cell was broken?... :-)

      To give some perspective, this is a rare circumstance hence we filmed it. Leafs have collectively driven over 3 billion miles and over 300,000 of them were made. It's reasonable to have one or two get sad and we feel it's not that hard to resolve. :)

    Would you say this fault is a Nissan manufacturing fault with the module or just general wear and tare ?

    Excellent video. I've yet to hear of a pouch cell leaking in a LEAF. I'm guessing that's the electrolyte that leaked. Could you guys address that and talk about how often you've seen this and what may have caused this? I have seen where repeated HVDC charging, (in taxi applications where pack temperature stays elevated), has caused pouch cells to swell. Could this have been led to leaking?

    I wonder what are the options we have if another module or several would fail like this again. 🤔

    • @driveev441
      @driveev441  9 месяцев назад +1

      It's pretty rare for any LEaf module to fail. The chances are this pack could now outlast the car.

    Drive EV, I have a promotion idea for you.
    Drive EV could volunteer and donate expertise and a small electric drive chain to the Palmerston North Esplanade Scenic Railway, in order to begin to electrify their fleet of mini trains.
    I always cringe seeing all the kids being dragged through to the ice fumes on the open air seats. The general public just don't know what damage that causes to small lungs and brains, dispite resent New Zealand research.
    Palmy has a high uptake of EV's, but it's the type of thing that would get national airtime too.
    I'll pitch this idea on the Ecotricity RUclips too.
