Fairly sure it was the biggest motor vehicle recall of all time. Their airbag system would fail, potentially launching small bits of shrapnel into the occupant's face, due to cost-cutting on the explosive device that's supposed to inflate the airbag (which is massively over simplifying the whole thing).

Excellent video! Two things from the lightning round:
18:25 - One interesting thing about Pennzoil is that it's owned by Shell PLC, so even though the Pennzoil portion of the company is US-based, it's ultimately under British control. There is also SOPUS Products, which is hard to tell anything about, but it deals with Pennzoil/Shell products that are less noteworthy.
18:50 - Loctite is even more tricky, as it was originally founded in the US, but is now part of the German company Henkel. The other company that makes threadlocker, which is often called "Loctite" is Permatex, which also used to be under the same leadership as Loctite in the US. Permatex is currently part of Illinois Tool Works, also an American company. Loctite has a pretty noteworthy North American headquarters.
So, not wrong on either count, but I figured it would be interesting to anyone reading the comments for further insight and the lightning round stuff seemed like prime candidates for expanding upon.

Now we've might gonna want (or at least it's just me) a video about Goodsmile Racing's history in the future. The team is well known as the "anime racing team", running Hatsune Miku sponsors since 2008 (although only as a title sponsor for Team Studie) and 2010 as a full racing team.
The team itself is run by Goodsmile Company, a company known best for selling anime figures. So it's basically the company's motorsport division in some ways. They've got Ukyo Katayama, one of many former Japanese F1 driver as the team's director. And with the drivers lineup being Nobuteru Taniguchi, a very well known drifter/racing driver much like Manabu "Max" Orido, and Tatsuya Kataoka, the same Tatsuya Kataoka from Dome's LMP1 project if I remembered it correctly. He even founded his own racing team named TKRI (Tatsuya Kataoka Racing Invitation) and they're racing in the Super Taikyu series, and as recently partnered with Goodsmile Racing to enter the 2024 season of Kyojo Cup, an all female one-make racing series under the Inter Proto Series umbrella.
And they're not just a running joke team apparently. They've found success in the Super GT series, winning the GT300 championship title in 2011, 2014, and 2017. They've also raced overseas in 2017 and 2019 editions of 24 Hours of Spa (although unfortunately they didn't finished the race in both editions a.k.a DNF) as well as Suzuka 10 Hours in 2018-19 (with better results than in Spa).
Fun fact, the CEO of Goodsmile Company and the owner of the team, Aki Takanori, even as far as getting himself interested in motorsport through Goodsmile Racing.
Idk but that's probably be what I would like to see in the future ¯\_(;u;)_/¯

I think the Goodsmile Hatsune Miku cars (Z4/AMG GT) are rather well known, even outside the Super GT and itasha community, so I will mention some infos about Pacific Racing Team's liveries/sponsors, as the other itasha running car in GT300.
Pacific Racing Team was known with running Love Live! (a multimedia project consisting anime series, games, concerts about school girl idols - a LL fan can correct me if I was right, I don't have much knowledge about LL) liveries for a long time and lately, they are sponsored by Vtuber agencies.
In 2019, they were racing with a Mirai Akari livery - Mirai Akari was one of the OG Vtubers in the scene, she has retired in 2023 March 31st.
In 2022, Pacific Racing Team collaborated with Hololive, one of the leading Vtuber agency not just in Japan but worldwide as well - they have a Japanese, English and Indonesian branch, with numerous talents who are streaming, making original and cover songs, and partake in various 3D stage performances and live events.
In 2023, they were running a VSPO livery - VSPO is a Japanese Vtuber agency focused on esports, their talents are cracked FPS players and in viewership, they are often the 3rd biggest behind Hololive and Nijisanji. They also have 3D events and currently are working on an overseas expansion.

Sponsorships in Super GT/JGTC will always be one of the most fascinating things to talk about. There's always this satisfying feeling when knowing what the main sponsors actually are, for example, Daishin being a dealership network of some sort (probs among other things), and Gaikokuya, a dealership specializing in foreign cars (if the 1994 team name isn't obvious enough lol)

Take for example the 2012 Dijon Racing CALLAWAY CORVETTE Z06-R GT3. Yes, a Corvette, on anime girl wrap. And the kicker is that the anime inspired design wasn't an anime, manga, videogame or light novel. It was to promote Nipponbashi, a shopping district skewed towards anime in Osaka.

if we're talking about designs, then 2019 is probably the best followed by the 2015 design.
But if we're talking about the design of THE CAR with the livery, then the best one's gotta be the 2013 Z4. the way the art perfectly fits the car, that whatever angle you look at it it just looks perfect.
Though personally I find the 2018 Suzuka10hr to be the best of all. after all that design is a bit more special compared to the others. That design is to show the whole world who they are as a team and that they're fighting for the country of Japan, not just their team. unfortunately they lost in Spa24h where that design is originally made for, but they made the message loud and clear when they won on Suzuka10h.
Nothing beats the moment when the 00 car reaches the finish line with all the grandstands filled with lightsticks. That's why I think 2018 Suzuka10h car is the best one, it's the most special one.

"Harsune Miku" is not a sponsor, Good Smile is (Good Smile Racing are their derivative SGT branch). They're a company that specializes on hobby products, specifically figurines/scaled figures, Crypton and Good Smile have a special relation starting around the late '00s and Miku/VOCALOID has been the team's mascot ever since. The most noticeable proof of Miku not being the actual sponsor is 2019's Spa 24h, where Good Smile ran a TYPE-MOON livery instead. There's also been multiple times of different VOCALOID mascots appearing on GSR's liveries.

I'd like to share my knowledge on Super GT Sponsors through music which you may find equally interesting. I've been an avid fan of the eurobeat genre of music for several years now and I actually own a handful of Super Eurobeat CD albums that are sponsored by Super GT, which is what I'll be talking about here. Real quick in case you don't know what Super Eurobeat is, it is a CD album series from Japan by the company Avex Group / Avex Trax (as seen on the purple Raybrig Honda NSX) featuring songs under the eurobeat music genre and has been running since 1990, being the longest running CD album in the world at 250 volumes not including special versions. With that out of the way, one of the special CD sub series was the Super Eurobeat Presents JGTC. Starting in May of 1999, the first CD album was released with sponsorship directly from the JGTC and right away on the second CD they got sponsored by AUTOBACS in early 2000. There would be a 1st Round CD and a 2nd Round CD for each year, with an occasional nonstop mix. By 2005 a transition started replacing the CD cover art sponsor of AUTOBACS and JGTC into just SUPER GT. There was a brief exception in 2008 as both 2008 CDs (2008 1st round and 2008 2nd round) did not get sponsoring by the music distributor I've aforementioned, Super Eurobeat, as half the tracklist on both CDs used songs from other music genres. 2009 things went normal again, with Avex still supplying special CDs for the Super GT series up until the final one in 2010. Also on top of this, as I had said before in a small hint, the purple Raybrig Honda NSX had direct on-the-car sponsorship from Avex themselves in certain years and this car famously was in Gran Turismo 4. There was also the #18 Avex DOME Mugen Honda NSX which was mainly sponsored by Avex Group, you can even see it in this video at around 25:30 onward. I hope this information is understandable and some of you who may read this have learned something! Stay cool and please do feel free to learn more by Googling for SUPER EUROBEAT: Presents JGTC or Super Eurobeat in general! Thank you ^^
EDIT: Also at around 21:40 I'd appreciate a followup video as you could maybe include some of this information!

Loved the video! My brothers & I have been to both Super Autobacs locations. One was located in West Covina (the last one to open then close) & the Long Beach location. The Long Beach location was larger with a formula car strapped upside down in the showroom & had an upstairs section for dvds & collectibles. We went again in 2009 (our first trip there was 2005 for my bro’s bday my uncle took us) but by then they were named ‘Super AutoToyz’ for some odd reason.

20+ years later and older gamers can easily recognise the Castrol Supra (and to a lesser extent, the Celica); its impact is such that still gets modded into other car games to this day

Pennzoil was founded in Pennsylvania and was a part of the massive company Standard Oil. Mobile 1 motor oil is produced by Mobil which was founded as Standard Oil of New York and would later merge with Exxon (Standard Oil of New Jersey) to form ExxonMobil. Exxon is known more outside the United States as ESSO which stands for the English letters "S" and "O" for...Standard Oil.

Esso also had their whole tiger theming which made it funnier to me when they teamed up with Pugeot for the WRC and BTCC efforts. Pugeot's badge is a lion, not a tiger, and yet they got some of the best liveries out of it. In GT2 (the game, not the category) in NA the Esso logos were replaced by Exxon weren't they?

    • @shaneharrisnj3484
      @shaneharrisnj3484 17 дней назад

However, Pennzoil and Quaker State merged, and Shell bought them out. The brand has a massive presence in Indycar and especially in NASCAR, where names like Tony Raines, Mark Martin, Darrell Waltrip, Michael Waltrip, Kevin Harvick, Steve Park, AJ Allmendinger, Kurt Busch, Jeff Burton, Matt Kenseth, Jamie Macmurray, TJ Bell, and most famously, Joey Logano all carried a Pennzoil paint job as a primary or an alternative sponsor in all 3 major divisions.. (note, drivers were placed on no particular order)

If so, we should follow Kazutoshi Mizuno's story. The constant internal turmoil at Nissan continues to have a negative impact not only on production cars, but also on racing activities. The Z33, which was developed without the company's knowledge, and the R35 GT-R, which was developed in secret with the help of some outlaws who had taken early retirement from Isuzu, are all connected to the stories of GT/SWPC/LM.
