NRL is a far superior code within Australia, it's better advertised, it's free to watch, the crowds and fan-fair are actually intense, it's embedded in the Australian way of life, the salaries are better, the actual game is cleaner (less grey area in the laws). The only place where rugby can match that stuff is in western Europe. It makes sense that talent chooses the NRL and it makes sense that the ones who don't, end up going overseas anyway

Australia Rugby Union/ Eddie Jones have a wrong idea getting Rugby League players they can be good for now but for the love of rugby and long terms please Australia Rugby invest in grassroots level scrap across Australia. That's the difference between us and NZ

Brad Thorn was an amazing footballer. He reached the pinnacle of League and Union and was quiet and humble about it. Just an absolute unit. Nothing flashy, but did his job right every time he went on the field.

I played league growing up (not a 6 footer) but i played rugby in 8 different countries living and working, you cant do that with league! there is a rugby pass interview with jack maddocks where he says his father told his go play rugby to see the world, T flament a belgium who played in england, argentina and then represent france! ok you cant turn down your first big paycheck would i play league if offered a juicy contract yes but it would be a springboard to rugby once a name is made!
I think League is better to watch than Union these days. Less players on the pitch. Clearer rules iterated and polished over decades. Union has a wider world presence but the NRL quality makes for a better spectacle imho. League players go over to Union and just don't feature as much as they did in League. Want to watch Vunivalu or Roger T-S? Invisible in Union from what I can tell. Such great players would light up any NRL game...

The greatest problem with former NRL players going to RU is a high proportion of misbehaving players off field: assaults especially of women , drunkenness and violence. Ironically the greatest ever problem came from statements from a ‘ puritan’ , Israel Folau.
All blacks can barely beat an average Wallabies team now. NZ's entire existence revolves around beating Australia in a sport they don't even care about. They wouldn't have a hope if Rugby Union had the depth that Rugby League has in Australia.
