    Thanks for the video. I had to replace the whole light assembly after it lost a fight with a gate post. When the old one comes out it has a black guard on the tailgate end. You need to remove this and attach it to the new assembly. It is held in by two click-fit clips and two position guides. Easy enough once you spot the two clips.

    I helped replace my mates back light units with the LED back light units (he has the ST line) what we did was get a flat head screwdriver and poke it through the carpet hole that u showed in the start to unscrew the wing nut and it came out really easily.

    I had a lug issue with my rear light which was a pain in the arse. Just would not let go of the rear cluster. Got there eventually but reminds me of why I will want LED in future. Good video and I look forward to having to fight that damn wing nut lol!

    Just incase anyone else is doing this There’s a second rivity pin which is an absolute nightmare, right at the smaller, more bendy end of the light. I ended up having to use trim removal tools to help with otherwise you feel like you’ll just snap the end of the light, even using the tools the left hand side one cracked slightly in between the black and red on the back of it- you can’t see it and I’ve glued it to seal it but very frustrating haha. Lights look great tho!

      I work at Saarlouis, where we build the Focus, and it‘s actually pretty easy there, i think you can adapt this to the Fiesta. You actually can just use your hands and pull the caps in the opposite direction from the mirror. Or use a soft plastic to get under the cap and just flip it off

  • @jwhitehead1851
    @jwhitehead1851 5 лет назад

    Just done this, the yellow plastic bit was so tight for about 10 turns, then only about 5 easy turns. Putting it back in was difficult to judge because a lot of the turns were above hand tightening level. Did the same thing on a current Corsa and it was a lot easier. Silly Ford. Thanks for the video.

    Thanks for making the video but although the tip about pulling the carpet back to make removing the retaining bolt a lot easier (and it does, believe me!), I still can’t remove the cluster. I can’t work it out but there seems to be something else that’s stopping it coming out. Thankfully, I gave up before I snapped anything!

    Tried LED from 20 Twenty (anti hyper flash Type) amazing build quality , unfortunately blindingly bright at night , so much so other drivers where being blinded and flashing me. I had to remove them again and fit Philips silver vision bulbs, I recently found out Philips make a amber LED I might try those next.

    You know the dynamic indicators at the front, I have a Vignale and the front indicators are just the standard flashing ones. Do I have to upgrade the whole light housing at the front to have the front indicators lighting in a line like yours. Hope this make sense.

    • @JBCTR
      @JBCTR  4 года назад +1

      It'll be a change to the whole cluster. If you don't have LED's at the moment, it will be difficult to fit them as there are levelling sensors on both the front and rear axles.

      Hi mate, as you may have seen my car has the LED’s from factory so I don’t need to upgrade the headlights. I had HID’s (5600k) in my last car behind projector lamps and they were brilliant. New LED bulbs are far better too, but still not had good as HID’s. That said, a few legal issues surrounding both HID’s and LED’s so if they are for road use, you run them at your own risk :)

    • @JBCTR
      @JBCTR  5 лет назад +1

      It's not just ST's that get stolen. Nearly all keyless cars are susceptible to the same type of theft. The new MK8's are not quite as vulnerable as the old ones due to some electronic trickery around the OBD port. However, my car has a fair bit of additional security on it as a precaution and if the worst really does comes to worst, it's insured. I don't lose sleep over it :)
