- In this video I have my stock GM spider C6 Z06 wheels that were originally chrome, powder coated! These wheels were chemically stripped, and powder coated in a tripple bronze color. They came out amazing!
The wheels were done by Bullseye Powder Coating in Miami, Florida.

I think chrome wheels fit C6s very well, maybe not C7s, I'm very against black wheels as there is no contrast between the tire and wheel and everyone does them for the sake of being "aggressive". These wheels however are amazing on your car and I really don't think you could've chosen something better looking! Car looked amazing as it was and now even better!

Looks sweet! I wanna do heads cam over this winter and change the color on my chrome cup wheels. Too bad I’m up in Canada so not sure who to get to do them.
might be a local shop near you. I think shipping them down would get a little expensive

They look awesome man! I’ve seen an add for C6 ZR1 wheels that someone was selling after a sandblasting attempt to remove chrome plating. The aluminum was totally chewed up after the abrasive made it through the chrome. Totally ruined & structurally unsound. Hey, great job going with a chemical removal process. Do you know if they took it down to bare aluminum? Also, I bet those Toyo R888’s hook hard!
I was afraid of that, but finding this shop that does a chemical strip seemed legit. Im not 100% sure on the removal. I know he said they had to soak for about 3 days because the coating was so difficult to remove. I guess GM did a good job with their wheels. Atleast on the C6 they did... And yes the R888 have amazing grip.
Beautiful setup. I have a 09 bone stock c6z. Really tempted to mess with it but stock cars are hard to find these days.
that is true, but its more about what makes you happy and what will make you enjoy the car more. I wouldnt worry about "saving it" If you like it stock keep it stock, If you want to mod it and make it your own go for it. I started with a K&N intake and corsa sport exhaust. But then I had the valve guide issue and had to have my heads machined.
I have the same situation with my 09 zo6. What did you spend to dechrome and powdercoating.
I think it was around $1000 pretty sure I mentioned it in the video. it was a while ago.

couldnt find the size in stock anywhere. these have been doing great as front tires and much cheaper

@@B3asToWnAg3127 not sure on the base c6. there is some road noise. If your car is stock you would probably hear it alot worse then in my car. cant hear much over the engine noise.

The stock wheel is 12in wide right? Can you fit a 345 on a stock z wheel?
yes they are the stock 19x12 wheels. 345 tires fit well.
Completely unrelated, but where did you get your side skirts from? Pre-drilled?
c7 carbon and yes the side skirts come drilled. but you do have to drill a pilot hole into your rocker
@@southfloridagearheads6504 Thanks, is there a way to run them with mud flat delete, so just skirts? Drill multiple (10-12) holes under the stock panels I assume? I'm more and more inclined to go with skirts from C7 Carbon now for their fit. Slowly been eliminating options lol.
@@Calibur43 I guess you dont have to put the little flap piece on. I think it would look weird though if the side skirt was sticking out and not affixed to anything in the rear.
@@southfloridagearheads6504 Yep, literally just the side skirts running down the rockers straight to rear tire exposure. In my opinion, looks cleaner versus having the mud flaps. We'll see how it turns out. I decided to go with the EOS kit, skirts and splitter. Real carbon fiber instead of hydro. I know they'll get beat up but yours seem to be clean! Don't want the fake stuff.

Is there any benefit to pairing the 285 front & 345 rear tires? Or is it fine to pair the OE 275 front with a 345 rear?
I dont think it makes all that much different on the street. Now if you track the car that would probably be a different story and you would want to ask a road course guy what the best setup is.

Doing what you did actually weakens a cast rim, I would sell them as soon as possible because they will not last
Care to elaborate on that statement? would like to hear of a scientific/engineering reason behind how taking the chrome off a wheel weakens it. looking forward to your ideas and response.
