RUMINATIONS: Zero Patrol and Air Raiders often get mixed up in my head to the point where I think one is the other. It doesn't help that Zero Patrol feels like it lacks an identity of its own, or at least anything particularly interesting. Skipping through the episode again, I see some good ideas here and there, but it's really kind of bland overall.
This is where the Mechakara arc was starting to gel together, plus where I started thinking about doing storyline stuff AFTER the Mechakara arc was completed, since the disabling of the continuity alarm became a thing that Linksano had done. Here, though, the arc significance is more about establishing that Mechakara cares more about robotic and mechanical life more AND sets up that he thinks Linkara has abused robotic life, which played into his eventual backstory.
The Continuity Alarm has kind of been phased out of the show. The thing is that many people ASSUME that the Continuity Alarm exists for pointing out continuity gaffes. In reality, it's because I assumed people didn't want to hear the complicated backstories and continuity relating to various comic book characters (and let's face it, there's quite a bit of that). As such, the alarm was more meant to keep me from rambling.
However, what I later discovered was that the viewers WANTED to hear the backstory. People WANT to get into comic books and WANT to have some easy guides and recommendations that they can use to get into it, so the continuity alarm has kind of stopped having an overall purpose. Plus it doubled as the computer system for Linkara, a role which is now served by Nimue. Still, it served its purpose back in the day.
"Why us?"
"Ah yes, why you..... you see I tried to find a group of teenagers with attitudes but you were the only ones who responded to my personal ad."
9:53 "He explains that once upon a time his civilization was so advanced that they eliminated disease and war"
But sadly nothing could be done to prevent traffic accidents.

This comics was originally Cinco Por Infinito, by Esteban Maroto, and was published in Spain in the 60s. Adams reprinted it and monkeyed with the artwork, then added his own, horrible story. the original is considered a classic in Europe and was one of the seminal sci-fi series. It was also part of the revolution in Euorpean comics, which moved towards more mature material, which ultimately led to things like Metal Hurlant. Adams' Continuity Comics had some of the worst writing and garish coloring; not to mention, some of the most gratuitous violence in 80s comics, No idea why Neal couldn't let the original Cinco Por Infinito stand on its own merit. Continuity also published Echoes of Futurepast, which featured people like Arthur Suydam and Carlos Giminez, whose work also appeared in Heavy Metal.
If Picard is God that explains why he wants a spaceship.
Kirk: why does GOD need a spaceship

What are you trying to do, Linkara, latch onto their popularity?! IT'LL NEVER HAPPEN! XP

Wait, Zero? Where are the four other people. He needs nine people for the Nonary Game.
I can't help but feel that comic book stores are part of what nearly killed comics. The problem with comic book stores is once you take an object out of main stream consumer area's such as super markets, malls, and chain stores, you take them out of the main stream consumer market all together.
You rob the average Joe of the chance of picking up a comic on a whim and becoming a long time reader, and are left with only a small die hard audience.
A good point, but at same time, small producers have no chance to emerge
They were still available in other places.
shadowspider9 I bought most of my comics in the late 90's through 2000's at a Kinney's....
It is true that sometime around 92 you saw most gas station and corner store comic racks dry up, but a lot of places still carried them.
You can only buy comic books in comic book shops in the US? Weird! Here in Brazil, newstands are where we buy them from.
Not that I've done it in years. Too expensive for me. Also, I can't read translated anymore, rather read in english. I stick to digital now.
Shame the Continuity Alarm isn't around anymore but I'm guessing you've got enough characters anyway and I don't mind hearing the backstory behind certain comic continuity. Besides Nimue is a better trade off :)
Silly Linkara, everyone knows Morgan Freeman is God.
The professor rambling about imaginary aliens and assuming a spaceship's occupants are ghost kind of reminded me of another Neal Addams comic: Batman Oddyssey
All I remember from the last time I saw it was the title card (which is so cute in its "chibiness") and that rant on Brazil
Native Brazilian Scientologists? Fascinating.
it is statistically almost impossible for intellegent life not to exist elsewhere in the universe, that is an indesputable fact
The universe is a huge place whose size is so great we are physically incapable of understanding it, with countless galaxies and such and has existed for eons. While the chances of us ever coming across intelligent life may be nonexistent that doesn’t mean it’s not out there somewhere in the vast universe
JESUS WANTS A HUG!
As a Brazilian viewer I am cackling maniacally whenever we are ever mentioned
I'm glad Jesus wants to hug us
"We're working for Zero!"
So what, is this a secret squad of the Black Knights or something? If so, these dullards could've been the reason that Zero failed to retake Japan the first time.

Linkara: Look if you're gonna do that during the whole episode; I'm going to shove a Magnet right up your USB Port
You see the reason his name is zero was to show how little thought was made for this
Remember this episode when he starts reviewing Batman: Odyssey
If Linkara's good at anything it's foreshadowing. Another great example of build-up for the mecha-kara villain! Good review. To be honest, I always find "all-white" super hero outfits to be... well... wasteful. Moon Knight, these guys, and so on. Super heroes are all about FLASH, and COLOR and standing out! Even Superman has said that the "S" is to act like a big bright target so people will shoot at him and not others, since he can take it. Hmmz...
TtheWriter What is more eye catching than a pure white outfit outside a totally white environment?
Well considering their first assignment does require a modicum of stealth the single color is appropriate, its just that white isnt the correct color
Linkara later states the the Continuity Alarm wasnt talking about Mecha-Kara
Iris doors and ghost aliens? Sounds to me like they found the crashed ship from Super Metroid.
Heather is like a character that was written to be a feminist hero, but fails at it . She's written like a straw feminist . She shouldn't be all men are men are chauvinist pigs/evil that's not how you write a feminist hero. Imho, a feminist hero doesn't say that they're feminist or act like a misandrist or say girl power .They act on the ideology or just be kickass withouth drawing attention that they're women.
Arianne Wingard so, they should be more like wonder woman. ( not hating on her, just so you know.)
Or a magical girl. :3
Gonna be honest, I do know of one character with the surname Dark that I could take seriously. But then again, the rest of the show was about kicking footballs so hard they catch fire, and similar silliness, so that miiiiiight cancel it out again.
+Masterof thelag Which show was this?
Inazuma 11, look up Ray Dark. He had a transforming submarine/football stadium at one point in season 2, and if that's not awesome I dunno what is. The games are pretty good too.

"Huh, so Captain Picard is god, who'd a thunk it.", So you've read Greg Cox's 'The Q Continuum' too, hmm?
I love using ellipses, yes.
Although... when I use them, I s'ppose it makes as li'l sense as throwin' contractions in places where they shan't belong... but, maybe it can count as personality, with lack of facial emotions, and barring the existence of near tangible, completely digitized emotional experiences?
Blah, who'm I kiddin'. I've got a tomato for a nose.
Also... I like how Blandy in there knew that androids and robots were two different things... it's too bad he didn't know the actual differences. Unless, that is, if the 'android' actually possessed some form of sentience and later becomes a primary villain of the series o3o
Man, why must independent comic heroes with cool names end up being crap...
Hell, I kinda hoped the cowboy with super strength would be totally cool and awesome!!!...but alas, he wasn't...
Genetically Engineered super hamsters? My god, an army of Hammonds!
Mechakara is so great.
Heather, it's people like YOU who gives ACTUAL feminists a bad name...
I agree completely.
6:00 So basicly they ripped off Call of Cthulhu, chapter 2, when the crazy swamp-people danced aroound the statue from another planet and yelled "Cthulhu Fhtagn, iä! iä!"
Ok, I seriously want "SEE? BEAR!" to be a meme now.
They work for Zero? Do they fight the Holy Brittanian Empire?
So if these robots were rebelling then presumably they had achieved sentience so essentially Lainie overrode the free will of sentient beings.
Gah! I use ellipses a lot, but that is just horrible misuse...unless they are trying to indicate him Kirking.
Catching bullets? Is Megalith from Fist of the North star?
Megalith's costume looks suspisciously like WonderMan's
No Audio :(
Zero Patrol: Still a better name than The Ravagers
Slightly better.

I really liked this comic. If you want a Continuity comic to make fun of, do Crazy Man.
Why is there now no audio in this video Linkara
I wear a tag that produces microwaves. I hoard them and sell off the extras.
Captain Picard is god... For some reason that doesn't sound implausible.
Or the ellipsis overuse suggests that the character is actually William Shatner.
Your right on most counts, but Brazilians have also integrated some African religious rituals, mainly from Yoruba. But I agree on the picture making us look like tribesman, it comes steriotypical and offensive
Did he ever get around to properly fixing the continuity alarm?
4:03 maybe that’s why God needed a space ship
HAM here (KE0VVO). The average modern day WiFi signal is a microwave. The term "Microwave emitter" was not the best choice of words, as this brings the image of a magnetron from a microwave oven to mind. Perhaps a radio transmitter would have been better.
BEAR!
And we Never saw the continuity alarm again!
8:10 He couldn't decide between Paragon and Renegade, obviously.
This might be insulting or funny to some:
At around 4:45 Heather decides that Orion is chauvinist for wanting someone to stay with the boat. She jumps after him, leaving the boat unmanned in a sea that appears to be at least a bit wavy.
Congratulations Heather, had there been no alien ship your feminism would have doomed both of you to slow death as your boat drifts away...
Have fun drowning cold and exhausted...
Rewrote and redrew? Isn’t it just an entirely different comic at that point?
NIMUE X CONTINUITY ALARM MAEK IT HAPP3N

As a Brazilian,I fell personally ofended by this comic.
Yo lewis. I have no idea if you still read these comms from these reaaaally old vids. Decided to marathon/recatch up since... Its been a while lol
Anyway brazil. While yeah, the image depicted is really stereotipical there are religions such as umbanda practiced in brazil that have african roots! The african deites also have their catholic saint counterparts too, like iemanja = our lady of navigators. Its mostly in bahia i think? But its p cool, i have no idea if you ever adressed this lol.
I did not! And I do see comments from really old videos - they all get collected on the same comments tab for me (just not replies to other comments. If you reply to something from years ago, I ain't seeing it).
So if its literaly all he is teaching thats problematic but if the physicist was teaching them about like the drake equation(a mathmatical funtion that predicts the likely hood of othee planets with life in are galaxy) or something simlar and he brought up statwars as a joke it realy wouldn't be that big of a problem
12:21- FUCKIN' BUBBLES!
Ah the vintage theme.
Hell, Kimball Kinnison from the Galactic Patrol had more character in the Lensman books than the Zero Patrol.
I know it's not a comic series, but review VR Troopers. It's an incredibly cheesy Power Rangers knockoff, that has VR, karate teens, a mugging businessman who has an idiotic plan, and Woody Stocker, a man who makes the pointy haired boss from Dilbert seem competent by comparison.
some of these reviews needs a casper cut in lol ( TIMING!)
ALL HAIL DONGA-DON!!!
To think you use it for popcorn
