😂. Spot on, I've been a fan for away back in the early 90's when no one knew them. I have to say live they always disappointed me always felt they were a better studio band, I know that's a controversial opinion, but fuk me what a live version this is 🎸 thank you uncle fester 😂
Jimmy was the first artist to make me critically listen to and appreciate drumming. I was 12 when Bullet With Butterfly Wings was released on M&tIS and I was blown away by the drum fills.
I remember when this album came out and I begged my mother to take me to the music store to get it. She looked at the back and read the titles and seen Silverfuck, and it really took some convincing to go home with that album 😂
I always cringe when i see a grown adult say 'seen' instead of 'saw'. Do you also hold your fork in a fist when you eat and shovel food in your mouth like a caveman? Who tf says 'she seen it'....she saw it. Ret@rd
My favorite live performance of this song is the one on Viewphoria. I’d love to see them bring back the version that rolls into “Jackboot” in one of these newer live sets.
I thought that version was the definitive version. But after seeing the nail it on their just recent version, it made me appreciate the refined and precise characteristic of the current incarnation of the band now versus the rawness of their 90s. Very sad to see Jeff leave - he was their secret sauce in more recent years.
@@adrianb2066 You’re right, and that’s really what makes the band what it is now, or has been for some time, shifting through various iterations. I couldn’t expect them to revert to an earlier sound but I am curious what that version would sound like with this lineup and their current sound. I admit for someone who been a fan since about 1996, I miss the raw sound without all the digital effects processing, and Jimmy’s older snappier sounding drums. The drums sound so “arena rock” now. I sometimes think that, with Billy being such an auteur, there’d have been less turmoil if the band was established in an “artist + fluid lineup” configuration from the beginning.
It's also about appreciation! btw this track by the SP, check the drumming of Ken Pustelnik on the track "Light was the day" from 1969 (!) by the Groundhogs, UK (Album Blues Obituary). All the modern stuff have their roots.
Like Dave Grohl says...."Good drummer, good band. Great drummer, great band. Jimmy makes it look effortless. Plus Billy can shred as well as he ever could.
Billy Corgan and James Iha are in my opinion 2 of the best guitar players of this generation. You can’t hear either of them and not know right away who is playing.
They're probably the weirdest band I've ever encountered. You can't pin any labels on them coz they have a complex sweeping sound that takes on all genres. Billy has become a Brando like figure who doesn't give a fuck what people think of him and you gotta admire that. They're not for everyone and that makes em special. For the folks who get them they are endearing to the end.
Amen, brother. I might not like what Billy does all the time, but they remain my soundtrack for the past 30 years, and I have nothing but respect for him and what they do!
Jimmy has to be one of the greatest drummers to ever live. His tempo and timing are the heart of the band. I loved seeing Jimmy on an Epiphone LPC and the 3rd guitarist on a Yamaha RevStar!
No, in the 90's pumpkins were way more raw and real compared to now.. And plus without D'arcy they are not the same ... I honestly feel "Adore" was the end of the whole adventure but then again what I think shouldn't matter to anyone ...
I just got remembered why they’ve been my favorite band throughout my heydays. Oh wait.. it’s still my heydays they’re still my favorite band. Miss D’Arcy though :) will love SP forever
I had some doubts going in that this wouldn't be as good as when I saw them play this song on the Siamese Dream tour when this album was released. My doubts were annihilated.
my wife and my first date was to see SP on the Mellon Collie tour. Soooo Rad. Lost my mind the first time I heard Gish. They lost me after the first 4 or 5 albums but ohhhhh those first 4 or 5. Life changing music. Fist dance at the wedding was to 33 off of MC&TIS,. Thanks for sharing this
Just seen them again on Sunday left with a broken foot was as good as 96 cheers guys... and trust the 17 year old me wouldve taken the broken foot to see them again at 45
Billy and Jimmy are both so underrated…. Billy can rock that guitar and make the sweetest sounds all at the same time even… And Jimmy, the tribal beats that he gets I’ve just beyond most people today.
@@spottss Being a top guitarist in rock bands does not mean being a good guitarist. It's more about showmanship and song composition. A good example is Cobain. Kurt had both of those in boatloads more than any other guitarist in that era, but he was a terrible guitarist.
Yes Billy is a great guitarist and he got good real fast. If you put in RUclips Billy Corgan shredding, a video will come up of him shredding at glenbard North high School in Carol stream Illinois. And he had only been playing guitar a few years at that point.
Wish they would have played this when I went to see them...they pretty much avoided anything from Gish and Siamese Dream which are both magnificent! Anyways this is cool, great tune, well done!
I think I just had an out of body experience just watching this performance. Billy is one of the last real rockstars, and hearing people talking and not fully giving their attention to this is criminal. As a musician, I've learned people usually aren't appreciating what they're seeing. For him to still be this good at this age, and dare I say, better than ever?? He's playing just really captures and transports you somewhere else. The rock world needs to start embracing Billy as the living treasure that he is.

Jimmy on fire with those drums! One of my favorites!
Jimmy was the first artist to make me critically listen to and appreciate drumming. I was 12 when Bullet With Butterfly Wings was released on M&tIS and I was blown away by the drum fills.
That's because he is a jazz drummer, they make the best rock drummers, look at the Pixies another jazz drummer., led zeplin, Hendrix etc...
Great video of him
