It's not necessarily just woman's intuition. Inara recognized that "Saffron" was using companion techniques and deduced she had probably been one at some time.
There is this woman in Nigeria. When she reacted to this episode she pointed out how the marriage ceremony at the beginning is almost identical to the marriage ceremony of her tribe. That's awesome
If not the best episode, it's in the top 3. "Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle". In all my days of watching movies/TV, this quote is right there.... All the best. Cheers.
shepards hear a lot of confessions. but, i think the shepard was either an operative of or member of the parliament. that ident card he has is the key.
🤣 I can't blame Mal for caving...I mean, he did resist for a while. I mean, he's single, she's on a full court press, and Like Chris Rock said, "if it chases us we can't run that fast!" Great reaction! Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
It is amazing how many women believe Mal is "cheating" on Inara when he succumbs to Saffron's charms. The whole idea that one can cheat on one's "prostitute" with one's "wife" is just so ridiculous. Yet I've seen other female reviewers literally scream at the screen trying to prevent Mal from "betraying" Inara....who routinely sleeps with other men for money and was literally complaining Mal wasn't making it easy for her to schedule more men with which to have sex.
@@robertanderson6929 Or more to the point- they were *not* in a romantic relationship. Yeah, they were sweet on each other, but they weren't with each other- and you can't cheat on someone you're not together with.
Great reaction! Any day with a Firefly reaction to watch is a good day. My favorite line of the episode "And don't you stand for that sort of thing. Someone ever tries to kill you, you try to kill 'em right back!" But for me, the best part of the whole episode is the look on Inara's face at the very end, after Mal jumps to the wrong conclusion about what happened. It's so good!
I have a patch on my rifle bag that shows a pic of Jayne's gun, and says, "It is my favorite gun. I call it Vera". Needless to say, I do call my rifle Vera.
Fun story; in the commentary, they talk about how they had to shoot the opening scene several time, with all the stunt actors (and some principles) diving into the water... Water, you might remember, that the horses were standing in- and going to the bathroom in. Yeah, they were having to dive and fall into horsey poop water.
Also, its good to note that Jayne killed the net with the first shot- the other shots were "F U bullets"; completely unnecessary, but Jayne doesn't like people who are gonna try and fry him.
That's nice to know about "Mad Men." I didn't watch that series because I LIVED during that time and saw no need to relive an era best parodied by MAD magazine.;)
Zoe is usually all business and loyal to the Captain... and that's why i LOVE that she ran and called everyone on the loudspeaker for this! 😂😂😂 I guess Wash rubbed off on her after all.
Witch or not, she got me going back to church for a hot minute way-back-when. NGL that was a really good bible verse even though it is not a true verse. Good lord!! 😅😅🤣🙏
Last I checked, 'taking advantage' involved taking an active role in things. All he got to do is lean back and let shit happen. Provided, of course, that things were what they seemed...The only 'advantage-taker' in that relationship is Saffron. That anyone could see anything else, baffles me.
Well, she clearly played it up as a naive girl on a backwater planet so even if he just let her do what she wanted with him, that could be considered taking advantaged of her nativity? The bedroom scene showed she understood more, I guess you could say and that... Mal was a dream come true compared to what she has seen happen to her sisters and that she didn't want this just to "do her duty as a wife". That's where it no longer really became taking advantage of her.
A lot of humor, both in dialog and visual acting. A lot of great quotes too -- Isn't that ... Special? It made sense at the end for Mal to knock "Saffron" out. When he asked her for her real name, we can see the wheels turning in her mind on her next move to gain an advantage. She is far to dangerous for Mal to turn his back on her. It's not Mal's way to kill her. Tying her up and taking back his shuttle would just mean someone would have to come back later to untie her.
This is one of my absolute favourites and definitely the funniest episode. It also starts a nice stretch of top tier episodes, not that there are any bad episodes, it's just by that this batch are the best of the best. Also, the 'special Hell' line is a fan-favourite and that is indeed the "girl from Mad Men", Christina Hendricks.
10:34 I actually believe that quote is from the Qur’an. I remember looking it up years ago and finding it, but I can’t find it now (I might also be thinking of the Book of Mormon).
This episode has a truly absurd number of quotable moments. Many of which are my all-time favourites. "I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you." "How drunk was I last night?" "I dunno, I passed out." "You got the right, same as anyone, to live and try to kill people." "The SPECIAL hell." EDIT - I have more: "Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle"
I really enjoy your hosting/reacting style, and esp with these great Firefly epis Nia! (But, where is epi 5?!?) Mal may be a lot of mostly good things, but he clearly ain't too bright...
I always found Inara's reaction really weird here given that Mal clearly has no intentions with Saffron. Then there was a QA panel where Morena Baccarin mentions that Joss Whedon revealed what her 'secret' is because he felt it would help her play the character better. It definitely explains why she doesn't pursue Mal (but also gets jealous of him). I won't reveal it here but considering the show is dead I doubt it counts as a spoiler but search RUclips for "Inara's Secret" - it's definitely an interesting tidbit.
So it seems Mal indeed hold no respect for inara's profession. certainly has no clue what it involves. not surprising, exactly, but still worthy of note.
"Song of Solomon" comes very close, and it's a dandy scripture to bring up to someone who says they believe in taking scripture absolutely literally. NOBODY takes Song of Solomon literally. Read it in bed with your main squeeze.
I really do not see where their problems come from. certainly not why they're chastising HIM. SHE initiated the whole thing. He had no fucking clue. None of them did. nor is she underage, so what the hell?
Hey, Inara didn't see through Saffron's game either... not until a literal alarm started blaring, letting her know someone had tampered with the ship and lead to the obvious conclusion 😂 To be honest if she (Christina Hendricks) came onto me that way (and I were single), I'd have given in too... literally who wouldn't?! 🤣
"Is that in the Bible?" Its not. Sounds like some backwater perverted rewrite. Song of Solomon has a significant amount of marital relations in it, but it doesnt say that.
This starts a run of six episodes where each one immediately becomes your favorite after you see it.
It's not necessarily just woman's intuition. Inara recognized that "Saffron" was using companion techniques and deduced she had probably been one at some time.
Yeah Kaylee was like, she’s fun lol

One of the best episodes of a series filled with best episodes.
yep strangely which is why my favorite episode mostly depends on my mood.... they´re all so good...
3:55 innara's mortified face says it all
shepards hear a lot of confessions. but, i think the shepard was either an operative of or member of the parliament. that ident card he has is the key.

Have to say this is my favorite episode of the series. All the humor and that end with Mal not being able to piece things together.
Great reaction! Any day with a Firefly reaction to watch is a good day.

I LOVE your cat in the background! 😍🙃

Yup, one of my top five.
I kept having to change my fav episode after each one haha
@@NiaMakiReacts You are now starting a run for four or five of the best episode right now. Will be fun to watch with you.
A very Special episode and my introduction to the beautiful Christina Hendricks 😍
She was something else!!! My gosh!
Yes Christina Hendricks was on "Mad Men". She was also on the 2007 detective series "Life" with Damien Lewis and Sarah Shahi.
That's nice to know about "Mad Men." I didn't watch that series because I LIVED during that time and saw no need to relive an era best parodied by MAD magazine.;)
I regret that "Life" had only two seasons.
That happens to be my favorite episode...
Zoe is usually all business and loyal to the Captain... and that's why i LOVE that she ran and called everyone on the loudspeaker for this! 😂😂😂 I guess Wash rubbed off on her after all.
YES this made my DAY!
Such a cute kitty❤
This was always my favorite episode
Such a great reaction! I love the expression on Inara's face at the end, you can practically see her thinking, "This is the man I'm in love with?????"
the special episode!😂
Witch or not, she got me going back to church for a hot minute way-back-when. NGL that was a really good bible verse even though it is not a true verse. Good lord!! 😅😅🤣🙏
Bahahahahahhhahahahahahah!!!! Amen
Very cool reaction to the best series that was on TV. Can't wait to see you watch the rest of them and the movie.
That special hell. 🤣
I love watching people react to the turn.
I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, this was the best show on TV at the time. When it was on. Which was a lottery week to week.
not only that time... shows as good as firefly are a rarity special nowdays...
Last I checked, 'taking advantage' involved taking an active role in things. All he got to do is lean back and let shit happen. Provided, of course, that things were what they seemed...The only 'advantage-taker' in that relationship is Saffron. That anyone could see anything else, baffles me.

We know, and Mal knows that it was all her, but the rest of the crew haven't seen those clues.
15:11 Yeah. You got to love Jayne 🙂
😂
You've got both joy and heartbreak ahead. You definitely need to do the movie too.
A lot of humor, both in dialog and visual acting. A lot of great quotes too -- Isn't that ... Special?

i just love the moment when saffron ask to wash mal´s feet, and he just goes "Tilt!" and walks away....
Hands down my favorite episode of FireFly
I really love watching you go through these episodes :)
I’m am laughing 😂
Your facial reactions to this episode were awesome!
KITTY! I love tabbies. Of all the cats I've had as pets, the best was a tabby named 'Mookie,' after the baseball player Mookie Wilson.
If you want to know how the Shepherd knows so much about crime, go watch an old show called "Barney Miller."
10:34 I actually believe that quote is from the Qur’an. I remember looking it up years ago and finding it, but I can’t find it now (I might also be thinking of the Book of Mormon).
Enjoyed the reaction. I love this episode. Christina HendrIcks is amazing.
Yesssss!!! Very dangerous tho 😂
This episode has a truly absurd number of quotable moments. Many of which are my all-time favourites.
"I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you."
"How drunk was I last night?" "I dunno, I passed out."
"You got the right, same as anyone, to live and try to kill people."
"The SPECIAL hell."
EDIT - I have more:
"Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle"
That last is a fav.
"That's why I never kiss 'em on the mouth."
"But she was naked and all... (gesture-for-big-boobs) ... articulate"
"You're good." "You're amazing. Who are you?" "Mal Reynolds wido."
it's been a long time since anyone but me took hold of my plow
This one is definitely in my top ten or fifteen episodes.
?!? over all shows? as firefly does not have 15...
tidbit to nitpick, rifle didn't need the suit. ammunitions have their own oxidizers, i highly doubt anything would change in future-space-cowboy time
Hey Nia, I'm catching up on the firefly reaction and saw ep 5 is missing in the playlist
I really enjoy your hosting/reacting style, and esp with these great Firefly epis Nia! (But, where is epi 5?!?)
Mal may be a lot of mostly good things, but he clearly ain't too bright...
❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Reaction does not necessarily mean talking about every line of dialogue. There are many forms of non-verbal communication.
i truly love your firefly reactions
The plow and furrow thing is not in the Bible. I was fairly sure I would have remembered it if it was, but I looked it up anyway just to be sure.
Ah, Yo-Saff-Bridge, most eligible bachelorette in the 'Verse.
I agree - I think Mal knows she kissed him.
Just FYI: episode 5 is not in your Firefly playlist.
I would have taken Vera.
You can have Vera I am happy to keep my "Bonnie" HCAR firing armor piercing 30-06 ammo!
10:28 lol, no, not a bible verse. Although there's an awesome verse about cunnilingus. They should have thrown that in there instead ; )
Do these episodes hit different after what I told you about Inara after you saw serenity?
U wanna make me cry again huh…
So it seems Mal indeed hold no respect for inara's profession. certainly has no clue what it involves. not surprising, exactly, but still worthy of note.
He doesn’t respect the profession, but he respects her as a person. He makes that distinction clear in Shindig.
The editor wasn’t on his ‘a’-game here. The show video wasn’t synced with Nia’s reactions to it.
I keep reading the Bible but I haven't found that scripture yet.
Firefly is CHARACTER DRIVEN ... and sadly Joss Whedon completely ignored "basic rules of physics", which could be used to create stories.
Yeah, but she big pretty
Thanks for the reaction. So much sexual tension.
Hey, Inara didn't see through Saffron's game either... not until a literal alarm started blaring, letting her know someone had tampered with the ship and lead to the obvious conclusion 😂
To be honest if she (Christina Hendricks) came onto me that way (and I were single), I'd have given in too... literally who wouldn't?! 🤣
Well isn't that, special.
Keanu making a special appearance
"Is that in the Bible?" Its not. Sounds like some backwater perverted rewrite. Song of Solomon has a significant amount of marital relations in it, but it doesnt say that.
