Thanks for Dave’s videos. I finally jump on board being a Y62 owner. Y62 is way under rated in Australia. One reason is many RUclips channels are “bought” by Toyota. Many people are just brainwashed. They just believe LC200 is better than Y62 on everything. And they also believe LC200 is way more reliable than a Nissan. But finally we have someone jump out showing up the fact. Nissan should seriously consider to give Dave some benefits/discount. Btw, Dave I also have a NP300. Haha. Once you got series5. We will have the same combo then.
Keen to see how you go with the new bus!! also an LS swapped later model 80 series would effectively give you a car that tows 3.5 ton and is a track and dune eating monster and tougher, however I do like how you've got right into the Y62s and enjoy watching how they go offroad. Keep it up Dave!!
Dash, sorry to see your old Y62 go. Your channel is probably the best channel on Y62 modifications --- super informative and covers all the minor details. I have to say your channel definitely swayed my decision on getting a Infiniti QX80, which is the closest we can get here in the US. QX80's factory suspension geometry is slightly less off road capable than Y62, but we can still apply the OnTrack HBMC lift to improve it. I also like the weight-aware approach you take on mods, it definitely helps the car handling better in all scenarios. Keeps up the great work!
Awesome video mate. Good information with regards to the weight and affects on performance. Hermosa blue with a tan interior would be sweet. I hope Nissan Australia give you a generous discount as you have sold more Y62s than their entire sales department could muster.
Great job on the details! I have a Infiniti QX56 and I’m wanting to turn it to a overlanding/off-roader slowly but surely. I’m doing research and I’m surprised that there’s not much of a market when it comes to modding and builds! Looking at forums and videos (even though it’s limited), I would want to see more builds so that we QX56/Qx80/Armada/Patrol can get a leg up on Mother Nature! 😝 keep up the great work and Nissan needs to give you a FREE VEHICLE for your contribution!! 🙃

Funny I have the Nitto R20 ridge grapplers on my QX80 up here in the states. I get about 50k miles per set and you gotta rotate. I am checking out 35s to upgrade soon. Mat lift a few inches as well.
hi there great video very informative , i never thought of going in that direction suspension wise. is it possible to post the parts list in you description of what wheeling webber has done to the arms shocks and springs. i would like that to be my first mod...
I know one of your main goals has been weight reduction for the last few years....but would you consider another GVM upgrade pre-rego (to make it apply Australia wide)? Even with keeping things as light as possible, you don’t have much wiggle room to keep your 350kg download on the tow bar.
Unfortunately this is not possible for two reasons. 1, someone would have to step up and become a 2nd stage manufacturer, 2, you can’t add a GVM upgrade without having the weight on there, otherwise it is impossible to wheel align
The only thing I can see wrong with the Nissan and Toyota with the Nissan you can only put 205 kilos inside the car when you're towing it's 3 1/2 tonne van and with the LandCruiser you can only put 265 kilos in it that's the problem with both of the new models that I can see other than that I like them both
Would love a Y62, but why not a tricked out Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 diesel or 5.7L V8 with the standard SELF LEVELING air suspension, don't need to fix, comes standard. I know what you thinking, bloody Jeep, but could you do back to back comparison with your Y62 if you are brave enough.
Great info! I've watched many of your videos over the past few months trying to get some information on the Patrol and your videos have really helped me out. In the US we have the Patrol (well close) with the Nissan Armada and the Infiniti QX80. The Armada comes with more of a standard suspension setup, although it has rear air shocks. The Infiniti has the HBMC suspension. Which one would you chose and what are the pros/cons of both? I apologize if you had a video that touched on this and I just missed it.

great video david, but according to nissan the front axle tare weight is 1425kg and the max gross is 1650 this means you can put 225kg on the front axle and be road legal! the 85kg you refer to is just a little yellow warning sticker under the bonnet and has nothing to do with axle limits and has nothing to do with warranty its JUST a warning sticker, the manual booklet is full of them !!! remove your old bumper and its weight can also replaced.
Thanks for the clarification. It’s very easy to exceed the front axel limits of these things. Basically, a bar and winch with people inside pushes you over
