the way he thinks about music is choral, to its core. he piles melodies on melodies on melodies. his songs can barely be said to have chord progressions- the bassline is merely its own melody. It's like Yes. It's incredible. between that, his tendency to mess with rhythm, and the intensely genuine/unironic emotions, his stuff is so unique
Hmm, that makes me think that perhaps he is (or was) such a hardcore Deleuzean that not only does he lyrically write about his concepts but he takes Deleuze's idea of the image of thought and applies it directly to the composition itself. Fuck the established conventions and rules of Western music as it were, I'm going to create something new. Wouldn't surprise me.
The way some of SGaP's songs finish has always interested me. The way they can seem to meet such an abrupt stop at their conclusion threw me off at first, but it quickly grew on me. Space Pony/Star Hopper for instance, has one of the most sudden endings I've ever heard in any song. I've always found something strangely poetic about the connection between his tendency to end songs suddenly without much closure, and his sudden disappearance from the internet -- lacking any sort of closure at all really.
smokedpone I've found that there is a bit of genius in ending the songs abruptly. By doing this, if you play them one after another, they sort of blend into each other. :) It's very nice.
Kinda like a whole life and death thing. One moment you're their in a brilliant brightness like SGAPs work and suddenly snuffed out by time or your own accord. I always viewed SGAP for a metaphor for life in all its beauty, breifness, and brilliance.
Truthfully I never gave much thought to the PMVs of his music, however E48 and E36 are really great and emotional videos when watching. Love it. Wish I appreciated him more in the old days. At least we still have his music now : )
Huh, I didn't think you were around anymore either. Like, yeah, 10 months ago, but that's kind of recent for an abandoned comment section like this one.
It’s been nearly 12 years since the original came out, and I’m only just now getting here. So yeah, maybe I’m a little late, but I love it all the same. I only wish I was here when the fandom was in its prime. It’s a weird feeling joining a fandom that was before your generation. The community has all these magnificent works of art and shared experiences that you just weren’t a part of. I feel like there’s a hole in my heart because I wasn’t there to experience it. It’s hard to explain, but it’s like when you skip out on a party and everyone tells you they had the time of their life, but instead you’ve been gone for 14 years and they’ve created an entire community full of passionate, loving fans and they’ve been making top-notch creations for years without you ever knowing. I dunno, I write too much. I’m just happy I’m here, regardless of whether I’m “late.”
This has to be my favorite SGAP song. The way his songs make you feel like bawling your eyes out while the lyrics and melody are so beautiful and inspiring is something I have only ever seen done ONCE, in 2019. This man did it 20 TIMES, 12 YEARS ago, and every song just makes me sadder that I was too late and that he’s gone.
Deja M His real name is David. Tho, I wouldn't recommend casually calling him by his real name because he tends to be quite secretive about himself. Just call him SGaP for short.
You zoomer ponybros missed the golden days of sgap's astounding and beautiful tunes, this ain't your regular pony music I tell ya, if you're here you probably know that.

@@hyperreality753 choral music is by far the most established tradition in western music its a millennia old

Tampopo is Japanese for dandelion.
Yellow, so easily felled by the wind.

Left as abruptly as the endings to some of his songs... I am still not over it, never will be I think...

Out of every one of SGaP's songs that I've found and listened to, this is my absolute favorite.
I want to make a fan animation to this song someday ♥
Remembering this track at random and how awesome their music is, and how they just disappeared. :(

I like it :)
How he edited the episode in 2 min was so perfect for the song.
I wish Matt comes back someday :,0
Matt, who's Matt?
OldasTheyAre Oh my bad, I call SoGreatandPowerful Matt because I can easily remember his name. I have a bad memory, sorry that confuse you.
Deja M SoGreatandPowerful has a different first name, it's not Matt. Matt is PinkiePieSwear, who inspired SoGreatandPowerful.
Oh really?
Well.... What's SoGreatandPowerful actual name?

I hear a little bit of Max Tundra in this.
The bass is kind of muddy, make sure you fix that later on other than that I love this
DesoloZ That's how the song is, though :0
DID YOU GUYS NOTICE THAT THE VOCALS SOUND LIKE GRIFFINILLA???
