I think the better dynamic would be that the Riddler actually DOES know who Batman is but uses the info as part of his mind games, I forgot whether it was the Riddler or Batman who said, "What's the fun in a riddle, if everyone knows the solution?" and I think at some point the Riddler also said something like, "I don't care who is under the mask, Batman is the true persona." referencing the Oscar Wilde quote, "Man is least himself when he speaks in his own person. Give him a mask and he'll tell you the truth."

A common criticism I hear is a "grungey" Batman. People tend to forget it's a Batman two years into his career and in multiple comic and video game references, Batman's mental stability was often called into question how much of his trauma really affected him that the film explored in Pattinson's role. Christain Bale represented an "unrelenting force" type of character, Pattison represented a "damaged man who persists".

Funny enough when he's checking out the first crime scene it was the first time ever seeing a live action Batman that I totally believed was just some dude crazy enough to dress up like that and go beat the shit out of people. Plus the stuff with Martha's past just helps add that extra layer that he's not all there.

Yeah, I don't even get how that's a criticism, we got something different here and it was very well done. Pattinson is definitely a Batman that's not as refined mentally or even as well-trained as Christian Bale's who was trained by the most elite and deadly people on the planet. Pattinson was a strong fighter, but definitely took a lot of blows when fighting even just a handful of mobsters. When Bale became Batman, he was pretty much complete as a character, or at least in his goals and vision of how he wanted to make a difference in Gotham. Pattinson was not, he was a slab of anger and resentment who wanted to instill fear while inspiring the people of Gotham was a complete afterthought.

@@brazmann9571 I didn't have a problem with his Batman. I had a problem with his Bruce Wayne, and it's because his Bruce Wayne WAS his Batman. As Bats, he mopes around with his head down. As Bruce he...mopes around with his head down. See a problem? Batman doesn't wear the mask. BRUCE wears the mask, because Batman is who he really is. If there's no distinction at all between the two, then it really makes no sense why ppl wouldn't figure him out really quickly. I wasn't a fan of the Nolan Batman, but LOVED the Bruce Wayne in them for that very reason.

Almost EVERY single time the Riddler threw out a direct riddle to anyone in the movie with batman around he could solve it almost before it was finished. He took in bits of his surroundings and used it to his advantage in his fights, he plans ahead and disorients and scares criminals to gain an edge. We see him puzzle out things nobody else in the film is able to like that cipher having everything already, etc etc. The thing is, in this movie batman isn't an omniscient god like some fans expect him to be, so he still makes mistakes. To many plot conveniences, made Batman and Gordon look dumb as detectives, and Bruce automatically jumping down Alfred's neck when he wakes up on the hospital because what Falcone says was ridiculous. If there was ever a movie Alex would say treats the audience stupid, it should have been this one. They have to fully explain everything, an hour of this movie was just monologs and slow cameras. 2. Superman killing Zod.
If you think an experienced, veteran, Kryptonian war general, and his Kryptonian soldiers wouldn't mess up Metropolis, and kill some people against an unexperienced, young, lone Kryptonian kid... than that's insane, and illogical imo..

He was only able to get through the main club (and then later, the penthouse) but he was never able to get into the underground club himself where all the important people hung out that he sent Selina to. I think a good argument about the point that Riddler's punishment for Bruce is very mild compared to the other victims is that, Riddler was able to monitor his victims in voyeur fashion - which greatly helps him plan out various ways of abducting/murdering them based on their behavioral patterns.
Bruce Wayne on the other hand is completely absent and devoid of any public attention to the point where even Falcone commented when he saw Bruce: "Some event huh? Brought out the one guy in the city more reclusive than me."'. This would mean that Riddler will have basically zero strategy against an individual that is literally out of reach for him. So it goes to say in his desperation, a time bomb would be more effective since the chances of it being received by Bruce himself is high since in his mind, what else does Bruce Wayne do in his tower?

In defense of Selina Kyle the origin of her being Falcone's daughter is comic's accurate in some certain iterations and I think her presence made sense in the movie. The club was part of her childhood, Falcone owns it and she worked there in order to get enough information so she could rip him off because she felt owed for him not taking responsibility for her when her mother died. The whole 'justice for her friend bit' I feel was again, partially an excuse to get back at Falcone. At least that was the excuse until that scene where she heard the recording of her friend's death. Earlier in the movie she explained that her mother was strangled to death and in the recording Falcone strangled her friend. If you look at that scene again Gordon flat out says "He's strangling her" and you can actually see when she connected the dots. At that point it wasn't about getting justice for her friend anymore but vengeance for her mother. In fact when when she had Falcone at gunpoint she even said "this is for my mother."

The secretive portion of the club, the one where you see all the district attorneys and high-ranking officials of Gotham, is pretty much where you could divulge information without the fear of infiltration since the club is quite guarded and indeed has secret areas. Other than alcohol, that's pretty much why they could freely share such information.

Two things I loved here were (1) Batman's interaction with civilians changing as he went along and (2) the actual detective work. A good mystery allows the viewer to connect the dots as the main character does, and this movie felt like it did that well. I could predict a few things as it went well before the reveals (like Thomas Wayne being connected to the mob and Selina being Falcone's kid), but ultimately I felt satisfied and smart for being able to put it together.

This is speculation, but I have two theories on why Riddler sent Bruce a bomb. One is that he simply hates Bruce, but understands that Bruce himself probably isn't corrupt, only connected to it through family. Could also be a generalized attack on the Wayne family, since it was an attack that didn't need to be livestreamed or broadcast. The second is that Bruce is arguably the most inaccessible person in Gotham, even for Riddler. In addition to a few other characters being unable to meet or talk with Bruce, Falcone says Bruce is the one person in the city more reclusive than he, and Riddler flat-out tells Batman that there was no way he would've been able to get to Falcone.

Also shows his determination to be something more than a man.
Not showing, or saying anything in the movie, letting the audience ASSUME he trained somewhere is stupid imo... Batman Begins changed the game with showing us, and Affleck, and Pattinson are doing the same old, "He's ALREADY BATMAN! We don't have to show you! It's year 2!!!!" Dumb.
Showing a flashback clip of him training in multiple places, by different masters, and learning from Alfred at a young age...while reminiscing, talking to Alfred in the cave about how they started this journey of vengeance, and justice would be so much better, than saying/showing nothing.

It will definently not take them 6 years to get to the 3rd movie. DC has been desperately pumping out as many new movies and reboots as possible (I am personally burnt out which is why I won't bother with this batman).
Batman Vs Superman came out 6 years ago, and in that time they have pushed out every origin movie pluss sequels, recast the joker 3 times in 3 different continuties. 2 different Batmen. Cancelled one continuity, rebooted another. Released their big justice league movie twice in different versions. They even made the suicide squad movie twice.. second one being a soft reboot.
How many years before they reboot something again? I'll give them 4 years tops, and that's being generous judging by their history
And the joker will most defienly be in the second movie. They already managed to insert the joker twice in movies as a side apperance (suicide squad, justice league), and then they made an entire spin-off about the joker. And now they once again inserted the Joker with no real reason for him to be there.

    Batman in the movies:
    1- Pattinson
    2- Christian Bale
    3- Ben Affleck
    Then the rest.
This is just about the Batman characterization and his portrayal, not about wich movie was better. Pattinson's batman is actually the only portrayal that shows how Bruce Wayne's life would really be as an orphan, son of multibillionaires and extremely famous people, being a very traumatized child and left alone as such a young age. Bruce Wayne is always shown as almost some kind of Tony Stark. Imagine having your parents killed in front of you as a child, grow up almost completely alone with 0 social life, in a shithole of a city, everytime you step out of your house there's the media trying to ask you question and take pictures of you, constantly being reminded of the one thing that caused you so much pain. I'm 100% sure you wouldn't grow up as some kind of Hugh Hefner/Elon Musk combination. Michael Keaton was ok but too cartoony, there was no emotion at all in that characterization so he really don't belong on the top 3.

Blood and brain matter flowed in streams down the stairs."
He also tells of the unit raping nurses and killing hospital patients. And much more.
You live comfortably in a house, these people when through the worst things people can experience. There is no comparison and I say this as a victim of police brutality (beaten while in cuffs for a crime I did not commit and I was released shortly after explaining myself)

Joe....in the comics catwoman is the daughter of Falcon. In the newer ones they hint at that as well. It isnt a new story line. I even think it's mentioned in Batman Ego and Long Halloween which inspired a lot of this film
    Edit
Joe... this story also sets up the story The War of Jokes and Riddles. In that comic it's set in year 2. Riddler floods gotham. Gets locked up with joker in arkham. They kinda become buddies then quickly turn enemies and start a war with all villains choosing sides. This eventually leads directly into court of owls.

Riddler flooding gotham in his Second year also has an arc were villains like bane, two face, penguin, etc claim sections of gotham as territories before choosing riddler or jokers side. All the chaos and war leads to batman figuring out the court wanted it and devised it to burn gotham.

Why was Batman so reckless? If he had informed the police or Gordon to get units out there to do a raid on Penguin, all that highway damage would have been avoided. and lives definitely lost would have been spared. Why did he turn on his car and wait for Penguin to get in and drive off which he knew would lead to a chase? Almost like he did it for our entertainment as it made NO sense why he didn't stop them then and there in the compound. He had more than enough time to ram into Penguins car before Penguin even got in...so why did that whole chase happen story wise? It was cool to watch, but unnecessary because it simply made Batman reckless and careless about human life.
