- First decent flight with the pitcheron modded chuck glider.
It works but needs bigger throws and ballast for aerobatics.

Some beautiful glider slope soaring actions
Good to see cant wait to see it when modified. Maidened my weasel at the weekend still need to finish editing the footage.
Great flight for such a light plane in that wind. Looking forward to more ;-)
Nice flying Andrew. So glad that i'm not overwhelmed by background music like some others have. I know the volume can be turned down, but then you miss the more important commentary portions. Thank you very much.
Thanks Bob. I try to adjust the levels appropriately
Beautiful Andrew. some great on-board shots there mate
i want to make one of these so bad. idk how many times I've watched these videos
Great flying and great fun!!
Light plane.. strong wind.. Well flown Andrew! :)
The onboard footage looked particularly pleasing :)
Yes the sky was very blue
Hi Andrew,
That's some decent sloping from that modded chuck glider. :-)
Eh? Did someone call?
Sweet!!..and so simple..:)
Interesting project :)
Nice work Andrew in such tough conditions.
Thanks, not ideal wind
not bad for such a cheap plane looking forward to the upgrades :D
Coming soon
My pitcheron conversion also needs some up trim (the le raised) to fly level. My control rods look to be in the same place as yours but I have maxed out the TX travel and throws. If it's blowing 10 mph plus I always fly with 110 g of ballast slugs pushed into a hole bored in the back of the canopy and just into the top of the wing. A cheap post from a solar led lamp can be used to bore the hole and cast the lead ballast
Ah thanks, good to know. Found I had glued one of the wing tubes to the axle which was restricting movement. I'll do your ballast mod.
I came to build one myself this year. 4flap wing and ballast tube. I hope it flies as good as yours
No problem, great little glider
cool, did you put ballast in the top yet? He rears up at the start of the hand.
I attached my key with 50 g. As he glides a long way beautiful!
No ballast yet but it was better with the camera on
lol i think you hit the stopping-point for size to weight ratio when it comes to slope soaring. lol
but i `m sure with a little more tweaking you`ll have that silly thing tracking straight as an arrow. :-)
I don't know if it is me or camera on board, but looks like alot of flex in the wing. I did enjoy the flight with music👍
Probably, everything flexes
Great Andrew, I think it would benefit from a ballast compartment over the CG point, so you could adjust it according to conditions. It looked too floaty and would not penetrate out into cleaner air..?
Definitely, also need to sort out the throws
Andrew is *XL Glider Plane* the correct name that LIDL markets, this little gem.
Yes that's correct
Many thanks for replying Andrew.
nice I've subbed and liked
Many thanks
Definitely a keeper. Did you fit some CF to strengthen the empennage?
No but it could use some
Need to be careful doing this, if you run it from tail to rear of wing the fuselage will snap off where the reinforcement ends ! I haven't bothered with any, and not suffered breakage, yet !
And that was the face of a happy boy at 3:40... :) Does pitcherons feel different to fly compared with a traditional setup?
I need a reasonable day to feel the difference. Only had survival strength wind so far.
How to set up the wing for the slope soaring? I mean - what battery using and how to plug to receiver? Do I need UBEC or not? Thanks
5V battery (4 x AA Nimh) plugged straight in to the receiver, or any LiPo with a BEC
@@AndrewNewton Thanks. What do you think must be weight of the wing if it has 800mm wingspan for slope soaring?
Nice little flight, these Lidls gliders are impressive for the money aren't they! I did mine last year and have pretty good footage of mine on my RUclips Channel :) Just wondering what camera you put on it as it looked pretty clear and must be quite small!? cheers :)
Thanks Russell, Mobius C2 onboard
Cheers Andrew, was thinking it would be tiny, will have to try my Firefly q6 in a decent breeze, just a few grams heavier :)
As the young people say now days (no I don't understand) TOO DOPE! 👍
Kids today eh? Thanks
Hi Andrew I've never actually done slope souring myself, but I know guys that do. They tell me that they add ballast apparently it really improves penetration.
That's right, coming mods
Andrew I'm thinking the reason that guy sent you a spare fuz' and tail plane was because you now have the option of building a yank and bank version aka ruder elevator, with poly dihederal wings you cant go wrong --- yes ?. See my comment on your previous video.
Yes maybe. I did see all your comments. I report and delete all abusive comments.
Nice that flies realy well it's such a shame we can't get stuff like that here .
I have seen a few videos on modified chuck gliders of different brands but none available in Australia. 😧
Peter Franzen check out the Reject Shop, they have one that has been modified before.
Basically a re-badged FX-707. Search it up! Tarneit Central still has three on the shelf last time I was there.
Bob Moxon sweet thanks mate I'll have a look to see if I can get one here.
Bob Moxon just had a look on the reject shop web site and couldn't find any so looks like they dont have them in South Australia thanks any way I will go in tomorrow to ask.
It is in a box marked SUPER GLIDER hand throw air glider (in toy section of shop usually) imported by TRS Trading (The Reject Shop Trading) so don't bother looking for them on line.
Bob Moxon thanks mate I'm going to the mall this morning so I'll have a look.
Most aerobatic one I've seen is Andy's. Lots of movement of the wing, and above 8mph needs ballast above cog. ruclips.net/video/z6WGgvKddr8/видео.html
That's what I'm aiming for
