I was in theater club in high school and I can say this is accurate on a scary level. Down to the music and the script and all-black ensemble with chucks.
+Lucas Davis I took a couple of theater papers at uni and it's pretty spot on for there too. However I teach high school Drama now and there is no way in hell I'd let my students perform something like this.. not that any of them would want to.
lj126 They actually do those? Guess maybe it's a good idea. All I know is when I was in high school (mid '70s), if they did an anti-bullying play, all the actors probably would have gotten their asses kicked.
They bring in these theatre troops from who knows where and they are just awful. I was a very good and respectful kid and even I struggled not to laugh throughout them.
"The time - now. The place - any high school in America." That line might be the best thing in this. It's so spot on, with the coffee house scarf and everything!
@BCR It's because that kind of opening line is a big cliche with these types of productions. They usually start with some line about how this could be any typical high school. It's funny because it just rings so familiar to everyone who's ever gone to American high school and suffered through a painfully woke drama class production, lol.
This just reminded me of a bit in my first theater class where we had to tell stories of what we did over summer without words. One girl told how she took her mom's car (at 14) and some other kids acted out drug use. The teacher asked them to stop over-sharing, that he was still a teacher. XD

As a former drama student I can definitely relate
"We were black"
Me- spits out my drink abd laughs my ass off for 30 minutes
The way Tarran throws his arms around is great.
“Like, like, like, like”
“But next time don’t like, love”
I sent you love.
the "next time don't like--love" one was lowkey good
Erica Bourland They must never know you said that.
Erica Bourland yeah don’t encourage them
LOL no it wasn’t. Please never do that in a high school theatre. You will be bullied,
I don't want to ruin the 420
Moon Fish Well its message was clear for that segment. And also the one about the "loser" 30 years later. And the "rush-stress" one. But yeah they're still done pretentiously and the other random ones were just strange and made to seem deeper than they were ... which is the obvious joke and a jab at pretentious theater/actors. 😄
When I was a kid my parents forced me to go to theater camp for a few summers in a row because I was "shy". We did such embarrassing and dumb things in front of a huge audience that I learned to laugh at myself and I was never again afraid to do normal stuff, like make a speech, in front of others.
So I guess it worked out but God, I'll never forget the cringe running through my body as we pretended to be endangered animals as we danced to a tribal song . . .
I'm watching this in school, and when it got to the part to the social media part, I laughed so loud everyone heard me.
Reese has been killing me for over 20 years and she is still smokin' ❤
When you think your deep, edgy and woke...
...But actually you're just cringe worthy and annoying
when you know the difference between your and you're...
*yore
