yo Tombox what was the deal with orcust cards chaining to your own nibiru? does it tribute all the stuff and stays in hand or does it do nothing? can orcust players use this to their advantage?
The tribute happens if the effect resolves (its not a cost!), then YOU special summon itself, then after that, YOU special summon the token to the opponent's field. So for example, if chain link1 is nibiru, then chain link2 is Knightmare, and nothing else is chained the resolution is: Knightmare raises the ATK of a mon by sending the machine, and from now on you cannot Special Monsters except dark. Nibiru was already activated, so it must resolve as much of its effect as possible. You start by Tributing all face-up monsters on the field (no restriction on that), and when you do you proceed to Special Summon Nibiru. But Nibiru is LIGHT, so that part of the effect cannot resolve due to Knightmare's limitation. As a result, the resolution of nibiru ends there, you keep it in your hand, and all face-up monsters are tributed.
Yesterday at my regional i got fu*ked by a salamangreat player who had 3 wolves in grave and returned one with will -> special summoned above it balelynx and added wolf to his extra deck and he was able to reincarnate it cuz of a strange ruling people should know about

Hey Tombox, as a person who was at YCS niagra, what is your take on ref favoritism and giving time extension to players whom are popular or they personally know.
I'm pretty sure yes. Nibiru tributes as many monster as possible. Since darkest diobolos is the 5th summon nibiru has met his requirement to activate. So everything except diobolos will be tributed since diobolos can't be tributed but an opponent.
I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to use servant once it's been ashed, because it was never actually summoned, you attempted to activate the effect to summon, but it never occurred. 🤔
Salamangreat Fowl being able to chainblock is something I didn't know it could do. I thought this because there was no mention of him in a rulings thread, and it doesn't work in simulators, which I learned are more based off the ocg.
So, I was a bit confused by the way the Nibiru text is written. "If your opponent has normal or special summoned 5 or more monsters this turn..." That means it counts the total summons that are normal and special together, right? I was confused as I first took it for counting normal and special separately. I am fairly certain that assumption is wrong. Another question: Does Shizuku have to be on the field to resolve her search or did you just have to have summoned her? I remember something like XX-Saber Dark Soul having to still be in the graveyard but you could search multiple times.
if a card activates earlier to add in the end phase it can be anywhere, if it activates in the end phase it has to be where it's required to be to activate , shiz is the latter

I know this has nothing to do with procedures but it is a ruling question. I went to LA regionals and barricadeborg blocker was ruled that I have to have a continuous/field spell in my grave to activate it, is this true.

@MST.TV surely the servant/ash ruling is silly, servants effect is to summon but ash negates the effect, so the effect to summon resolves negated, and hence servant wasn’t summoned. Surely this leaves it open to being summoned again?!?!
It does not. As your card technically reached resolution and has made an attempt to summon, and that data is carried over. If someone uses monster reborn but reborn effect negated. The card resolution was negated. You won't be able to activate pot of duality for the turn. Not as silly as u may think.
Because of the activation not being negated, an attempt to summon her has already happened. Just like when you solemn strike a sky striker link or dingirsu, where the the card is sent to the GY and you cannot summon them again this turn. On the other hand, if a card negated Servant's activation (CD Infinity, Borrel Savage), an attempt to summon her never happened, so if you have the counters, you can still activate her Versus Ghost Ogre, even though the activation of Servant isnt negated, because Servant works like a continuous spell card and is destroyed before it can resolve, it's effect stop immediately not attempting to summon her (MST NEGATES!). As a result, you can activate Servant's effect again if you can access her and fill her counters.
No because that is a spell effect of an already activated spell card that stayed face up on the field. Solemns negate the activation of the particular Spell/Trap, or Monster effect activations.
You kept saying "summon" when Nibiru counts the NUMBER of monsters summoned; NOT the number of summons. If Player A pendulum summons 5 monsters, Player B may legally activate Nibiru. Even though the pendulum summon counts as 1 summon, 5 monsters were summoned which meets Nibiru's activation requirement. Also, keeping track of summons other than verbally or mentally is considered note taking and goes against Tournament Policy. Note taking is only legal for life points, mandatory effects, tracking of turns and turn counters. (Page 27, Official KDE-US Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Tournament Policy)
the two most standard end phase lines of striker is search widow anchor with shiz activate anchor on shiz set anchor with role, & set engage with role, search engage with shiz, they both just activate in the end phase in separate chains/each one starts it's own chain
I was confused with the interaction between the utopia sky player and the opponent using nibiru. It seemed like a legal play to me. Can anyone help me understand why both players got a penalty for nibiru on the 5th summon?
Man what you say about machine dup vs ash sounds realy wrong. How can the game recognise that cyber dragon is Light since he was never summoned? That is definitely a stretch...
Nibiru counts the number of monsters summoned, not the number of summons. If I pendulum summoned five monsters ant the was my first summon, Nibiru can activate its effect.
Can you try and get an official ruling on ash vs servant, it’s kinda crappy that you go to one event, works there, go to a different event, ruled differently. extremely unfair.
it doesn't matter, if the head judge makes a ruling error it doesn't matter if it's wrong, even if there's been official contact from konami stating absolutely that X works like X, that's the rule at that event. Otherwise everyone would play by OCG rules.
I have a friend who waits until I completely end my turn to summon nibiru so he can make sure he does it on my last summon. And give me a huge token instead of counting my summons he just sits there and waits till I end my turn to then activate nibiru
Nibiru cannot be summoned during the end phase. You can bait him by telling you end your turn, then he MUST activate nibiru while you still are in the main phase, then if you have the extenders say that you want to remain in main phase as the gamestate has changed and keep playing (both players have to agree before advancing a turn's phase)
How far can I go with making my opponent uncomfortable before it’s considered unsportsmanlike conduct?? I play a lot of poker, and getting your opponents rattled is a huge component in any winning strategy. I’m not going to throw profanity at them, but could I, for example, tell my opponent what cards they have in their hand and then based on their reaction tell if I was right or not??
Guessing your opponent's hand, outloud is unnecessary. If it gets to a a point your opponent is visibly annoyed at you, stop. It's leaning on a Unsporting conduct call. Guessing your opponent's hand, you can guess, as long as they aren't replying or revealing anything. Guess in your thought, but if you try to invoke a reaction then I would say that is UC - Cheating. The rare times, I am in favor of that penalty.
thinking out loud is not uncommon, generally it's stating known variables though , ie. eliminating possiblites by going through what your opponent could do, then when they don't saying eg. not that, so this this this stops me, I'm at this point so you don't have this or that, it's how some people structure playing through & around handtraps in particular
You need to teach something to the guy at locals that last week put Pisty in the Extra Zone and pretended to use it's effect saying there was another zone between the 2 extra zones near my Gullveig. Also later on in game 2 he used Blue Eyes White Dragon + The white stone to make Trishula which needs 2 non-tuners. I don't know how this guys even build their decks🤦🏻♂️
Bluffing isn't a DQ-able offense and anyone who's saying you can't is silly. Any modestly intelligent player with common sense will keep track of their opponent's moves, and if they start counting, they will keep tabs on it, regardless. If the opponent counting summons is being aggressive or rude, call your judge, but if they're just saying numbers to count summons? They're fine.
To give u more details Vee, if someone's intent was being loud and obnoxious.. every summon they go "ONE SMMON, 2 SUMMON, THREEE...... FOUR OHODHROSIJDB FIVE." Then I can find another UC minor to give them for being rude to their opponent. If they appeal it, I think the head judge might change the penalty and upgrade it to something more fitting for wasting event time..
This is why you activate utopia double in the battle phase. Really tells you the experience of the player doing it in the main phase leaving double susceptible to Veiler...smh

@@Harmonic14 oh I knew that part, I was only asking because droll&lock bird specifically states draw cards, and ash says add cards. So I wasnt sure if ash was more for effects that search the deck to add to hand, like the Stratos effect or RotA
No, because first you summon nibiru, THEN you summon the token. That means 2 Special Summons, that winda doesnt allow, so Nibiru cannot be activated at all.
I have a random question about a ruling about something that happened in my locals, Cyberload fusion was activated and the 2nd player chain with a enemy controller to take their target, now cyberload fusion say that you can only attack with the fusion monster, even if it didn't resolve because he activated the card can he attack or can't because the restriction? don't know if I explained the situation and the question right lol
I’m fairly confident that he CAN attack if the card that was E Con’d was a material target and not the fusion monster itself. If the fusion monster was the one E Conned then he can not attack because the cyberload fusion resolved successfully.
how do they know what your attempted to summon with machine dupe to say you attempted to summon a light monster? Yeah, it may be the case that you would have and it may be obvious that you would have, but in terms of the game you potentially could have been playing something ridiculous in your deck. To me, unless the monsters to be summoned are to be revealed, this shouldn't count. But I suppose rulings are rulings.
The case will 100% change If a monsters attribute changes to be different from the one targeted via name change... Then it will most likely be the monsters original attribute that is about to be summoned but who knows... Need confirmation.
there just isn't a monster in the game that counts as cyber dragon in the deck which is dark, & all cards are public knowledge, you can literally have your opponent tell you the attribute of cyber dragon by asking as it's player responsibility to share things which are public knowledge, so attempt to summon cyber dragon from the deck = attempt to summon a light monster.
For the 1st case i use a die to count the summons towards Nibiru. For the 2nd case would it change something to activate the effect of orcust crescendo in chain to Ash blossom's effect? Nice video very helpful.
Crescendo states: "You cannot Special Summon monsters the turn you activate this effect, except DARK Machine monsters.", since the activation was not negated you will not be able to Special Summon monsters except DARK Machine monsters.

As a result, you can activate Servant's effect again if you can access her and fill her counters.
MST.TV would summon limits card text be relevant here?
@MST.TV can be warned a spell of true draco during the eff of summon?
Can anyone help me explain to my judge that ash beats servant. They don't understand the clause "attempted summon"
ask them to ask other judges in ay judge group or ask konami, there's a konami q&a ruling already about also
What resolves first, Shizuku or Multirole? Because then they can set f.e. the engage and search another one with Shizuku
Alexander Hoy you can choose which one you want to resolve first
wes Griffiths Ok thanks
the two most standard end phase lines of striker is search widow anchor with shiz activate anchor on shiz set anchor with role, & set engage with role, search engage with shiz, they both just activate in the end phase in separate chains/each one starts it's own chain
I was confused with the interaction between the utopia sky player and the opponent using nibiru. It seemed like a legal play to me. Can anyone help me understand why both players got a penalty for nibiru on the 5th summon?
Because it was the battle phase... U cannot nibiru in the battle phase.
MST.TV Thank you! That part must have just went in one ear and out the other xD
Niburu watches, Nibiru waits.
Don't summon on 4.... please..
@@MSTTV most importantly, Nibiru Smashes
In my locals they are special summon thunder dragon coullosses with Shark cannon that's illegal right? 🤔
Yes. He must be special summoned with his conditions
I always thought once it’s summoned correctly from the extra deck it met its requirement, so it could be SS from the grave afterward ??
@@merconomics3726 I think that's not possible he must fusion summon and not other ways
@@merconomics3726 if that would be the case it would say must first be...
But it says must be
Ok, thank you for the clarification, just got into competitive play so still getting things down 😂
What is that tooth?
Man what you say about machine dup vs ash sounds realy wrong. How can the game recognise that cyber dragon is Light since he was never summoned? That is definitely a stretch...
Nibiru counts the number of monsters summoned, not the number of summons. If I pendulum summoned five monsters ant the was my first summon, Nibiru can activate its effect.
Correct!
@@MSTTV neat, now to pick up a few copies
Can you nibiru during mainphase 2?
5th comment activate Niburu response?
P.S. thx for the reply :D
Yes.
Main phase of the turn they summon 5+.
You are the 5th comment summoned!!! Activate Nibiru!!!
@@MSTTV active scoop phase in response.
I'm an Azzathot
I think komoney needs to make a final ruling on servant of endymion to stop all this doubt
Iirc someone already received an email from konami about this...
Otherwise everyone would play by OCG rules.
a lot of tcg rulings literally get answered by konami with "ask your head judge for an opinion lol"
@Charmiskit salamangreat goes 5 summons on standard combo, as do many rogue decks
How far can I go with making my opponent uncomfortable before it’s considered unsportsmanlike conduct??
I play a lot of poker, and getting your opponents rattled is a huge component in any winning strategy.
I’m not going to throw profanity at them, but could I, for example, tell my opponent what cards they have in their hand and then based on their reaction tell if I was right or not??
you can get penalized for doing that, since it involves private knowledge
Guessing your opponent's hand, outloud is unnecessary. If it gets to a a point your opponent is visibly annoyed at you, stop.
It's leaning on a Unsporting conduct call.
Guessing your opponent's hand, you can guess, as long as they aren't replying or revealing anything. Guess in your thought, but if you try to invoke a reaction then I would say that is UC - Cheating. The rare times, I am in favor of that penalty.
@@MSTTV Thanks for the response
thinking out loud is not uncommon, generally it's stating known variables though , ie. eliminating possiblites by going through what your opponent could do, then when they don't saying eg. not that, so this this this stops me, I'm at this point so you don't have this or that, it's how some people structure playing through & around handtraps in particular
Didn't put skill points to the Read card skill
Yo tombox you gonna be at YCS Fort Worth?
Negative, I'm a poor man trying to pay for a wedding at the moment.. please hit like lol. I'm begging for clicks on the internet.
Hey can u make an updated dino deck?
This is why you activate utopia double in the battle phase. Really tells you the experience of the player doing it in the main phase leaving double susceptible to Veiler...smh
The video mentions it was the battle phase.... But the both players didn't read nibiru... So they Nibirued them in the battle phase...
Which is why it was the PE minor
I nibiru-ed my friend today gave him a 10,100atk 8,500def token. Goofed up and left a 2200atk monster in atk position. Went from 8000lp to 100lp and then borrelsworded him for game. Was so fun
Yeah i decided to use my pure rokket deck and i hadn't normal summoned and my opponent nibirus me and i looked at his field vs mine and here was my one thought"you a dead boi". So after that i got borrel savage dragon along with borrelsword onto my field and ended up killing him(cause i went with topilogic zeroboros before he nibirued me)
Can you Ash pot of desires?
The one where you remove 10 cards from the top of deck face down to draw 2.
I ask because ash says "add cards" not "draw cards"
drawing cards is the same as adding them to hand
Drawing is considered adding. You can Ash Pot of Desires. Also, banishing 10 is a cost, so they banish 10 even if you Ash it.
Yes, it is the classic feel bad.
@@MSTTV okay cool thanks.
@@Harmonic14 oh I knew that part, I was only asking because droll&lock bird specifically states draw cards, and ash says add cards.
So I wasnt sure if ash was more for effects that search the deck to add to hand, like the Stratos effect or RotA
can you summon nibiru under winda?
No, because first you summon nibiru, THEN you summon the token. That means 2 Special Summons, that winda doesnt allow, so Nibiru cannot be activated at all.
No
I miss the max c challenge honestly
Why u no play nibiru challenge?
I never knew Shizuku had to search a different name until this video lmao
And now u know and knowing is half the battle .... Gi joe
'.' this is why it's usually a good idea to give top decks a try onlne, very quickly learn their limitations & have a much easier time vs them
Why didn’t he utopia double in battle phase to stop veiler and Nibiru
It was battle phase... The error was they still used nibiru..in battle phase... Not a misplay, illegal play. So read nibiru.
MST.TV No I’m talking about the sky striker player why didn’t he activate utopia double in the battle phase
@@sirtytade7613 he did use it in the battle phase... And neither read nibiru. So then Nibirued on battle phase.
This PE minor for the player that activates Nibiru in battle
MST.TV oh your saying somebody got cheated by that got it
I have a random question about a ruling about something that happened in my locals, Cyberload fusion was activated and the 2nd player chain with a enemy controller to take their target, now cyberload fusion say that you can only attack with the fusion monster, even if it didn't resolve because he activated the card can he attack or can't because the restriction? don't know if I explained the situation and the question right lol
I’m fairly confident that he CAN attack if the card that was E Con’d was a material target and not the fusion monster itself. If the fusion monster was the one E Conned then he can not attack because the cyberload fusion resolved successfully.
@@merconomics3726 yes it was a material target TY very much!
how do they know what your attempted to summon with machine dupe to say you attempted to summon a light monster?
@@Marcusjnmc
This makes sense, and embarrassingly enough, I wasn't thinking about the same name thing. My bad. Big mistake.
Can you provide rulings on doomking balerdroche?
For the 1st case i use a die to count the summons towards Nibiru. For the 2nd case would it change something to activate the effect of orcust crescendo in chain to Ash blossom's effect? Nice video very helpful.
Crescendo states: "You cannot Special Summon monsters the turn you activate this effect, except DARK Machine monsters.", since the activation was not negated you will not be able to Special Summon monsters except DARK Machine monsters.
you can't record the game state with either paper or dice, technically , though I think that is silly personally
@@Marcusjnmc How to count the number of summons(towards Nibiru but it isn't the only card for which it matters) without pen or paper?
If i use my memory my opponent could accuse me of cheating.
just gonna count with my fingers for Nibiru until 5 is reached
That's a very strong bluff..
@@MSTTVnah, just too forgetful to memorize the summon number if I have to play Handtraps inbetween or the enemy activates spells/traps

Yo Tom I see you always at locals. I gotta ask you one thing.
Are you down to

DUEL!!!!!!!!!
I'm usually down. Usually
YuGiOh cards have alot of text. What its the one thing YuGiOh players hate to do ? Yep reading cards. Its really fun to see that. In Magic people read even in Pokémon people read. But in YuGiOh people have this thing that if they don't know the card its not worth reading it because if it is not meta it is not good mindset. Still a real fun game to play.
It's more that they don't want to read a college thesis every time you need to know Astrograph's effect. The one that resolves like 7 times in a turn.
I got borresword otk against orcust after my opponent was locked into machines, I totally forgot about it and didn’t realize until way after lol costed me the game
Only if they used crescendo search... Which usually happens during the end phase.. and reset during the next turn keep track of when it happens
Will definitely pay attention thanks, keep up the great work 🙌
Always play against people in real life or online who don't read cards.
i count the summons with a dice, but i dont have nibiru so was only a mind game XDDD
It’s kind of hilarious how I personally don’t play at TOO many competitive environments because I feel like I’m not as good of a duelist yet but when it comes to these rulings that people flub on, it’s kind of funny how dumb some of these players are.
Would nibru work on dark magician if eternal soul is out?

Utopia via Utopia Double as 5th summon in main phase is a major misplay. You can use the effect during the battle phase and dodge Nibiru and go for game before ever getting to main phase 2.
Correct, but this procedural error is... People are still activating nibiru in the battle phase... Lol. And not reading nibiru.
@@MSTTV Of course. And thanks for confirming how System Down interacts with XYZ in Niagara. Too bad I had to drop at the end of day 1 after accidentally placing part of my deck on my hand. All because I got rattled on his foreign card and wanted to read it for myself, even if it was a common card. I should have told the judge but I would have appeared like a shark for it being common.
