Hey Dan! Your subscriber with the sleepy girlfriend here 😂
Thank you for making up the time to talk to us and for your kindness.
I also went with low to zero expectations. I mostly went to grind Necrozma and to get Skarmory XL and it did not go well haha. This was also my first Go Fest experience, and I can confidently say that the City Pass/Experience was the best part of it.
As you mentioned, the main event was rushed and there was a lot to do in a short amount of time. That led my friends and I to high levels of stress and limited enjoyment. If I ever go again, I’ll definitely be looking forward to the City Experience more than the Park Experience.
I’m glad you enjoyed it and hope to see you again!

You liked the city better? My buddy said that as well. I loved the city, but the park I think was better for grinding raids. I love both. But prefer the park.

There was an area in Central Park where you could grind lots of raids too. For me it was more about how “chill” the city experience was, and the fact that I could just go for lunch or a coffee without feeling in a rush to head back

Hey, I wasn't able to make it, but I'm glad you enjoyed the community aspect of it. Vlogs aren't my favorite videos to watch, but I loved the beyond the hype part. We appreciate you Dan

Thank you for your breakdown. Your experience was down to earth, an honest. Really felt like any one of us were at NY gofest with u.
You've should have done a meet, walk, and grind.

Hey Dan! Nice meeting and chatting with you on FRI in CP, and SAT at Randals.
Niantic did alright with the park setup, but could have provided more shade and water stations due to the excessively hot weather.
I was really satisfied with the shiny rates of the wild spawns, I got ~30 each day, encountering over 1K pokemon each day. I was disappointed with the raids as i did over 120 raids and walked away with only 2 shinies.

On the last day in Sendai was my slot for the event.
It was poring rain so we left early. I felt bad for the trainers that didn’t have an umbrella.
    PS: I did 190 raids and I didn’t get a 98er or hundo.
I wish I had the PoGoTuber luck.

as a 40 year old Pogo player (Bradyjdog ign appreciate your content always) the hardest part of the in person events is steps lolol Great vid glad you got a chance to go. Fingers crossed for one in Ottawa or Toronto or even Montreal again soon

Again this video was great I liked seeing more of your overall experience and options. I will say these events are pretty overwhelming however when you're with a group of friends it changes the whole experience and makes it 10x's more fun. Also appreciate the kind words my man 👍

Hey Dan! Wish I got to meet ya this past weekend, but you’re right, it’s definitely an overwhelming event! If you attend another in person event, would 100% attend a meet up if you hosted! Glad you got to experience NYC and go fest!!

Your reasoning at the end there is why I ultimately ended up not going to Go fest NYC. I've never been to an in-person go fest and would love to go, but it just didn't seem worth the cost. Even though I live in Toronto which is closer to NYC than a lot of places, the cost for the plane ticket and hotel just to get 100k steps under the scorching sun for 2 days just to come back right after didn't seem that appealing lol. Like you said, if the go fest happened to be in the city I was in already I would have considered it. Like if it came to Toronto, or if I had planned to travel to NYC for reasons either than Pokemon.

I wasn’t able to make it to Go Fest this year but I did go last year. My thoughts on the event was that the city experience was exponentially better than the park. I was able to do more raids and catch more Pokémon and shinies during my city experience than at the park. I found Randal Park to be a very inconvenient location to get to and there were major cellular issues during my time.
I went to Go Fest in Chicago back in 2018 and the experience there was amazing. The entire event was at Grant Park and Niantic went all out creating the various habitats and such.

I was there with my bf and we just kept saying why can’t go fest be spring. Like April is perfect, even May is good because our college semester is over, but July is too hot. I was there last year in August and it didn’t feel as bad as it did this past weekend. In one day I got 35 shinies for gofest. I’ve seen some people say they only got a handful. City experience is by far my favorite. This year and last. The park is cool but I’m not as fond of the spawns because they are confined to that space. Where as the city you can just keep going all over.

That RNG is really frustrating IMHO. I've yet to do any GoFest locations but if I did I would "expect" better result than anything I've ever seen at Global or even over comm days. It just costs too much money to NOT have that kind of expectation.
TBH I think the Global GoFests should have more "guaranteed" results given the ticket cost and effect required to really grind the weekend. Over the years I've had great and terrible luck at them. Nothing more frustrating for a player (particularly a younger player) than to drop $15 and sweat and walk for hours and not have exceptional results.
I'm totally with you also, I'd never go to a place I hadn't been before that was cool to visit, just for PoGo. If when it comes to Atlanta, I'll go for the weekend because I live within 2 hours of ATL. A trip to NY? Heck no. Way to may amazing things to do and see in NY and I've only been there a couple times.
Doesn't really matter thought I guess. Niantic has zero concerns for what the players think/want.

I live in NY and don’t know if I would do the in park experience again could have easily just done the city ticket. The park was so hot everyone was basically walking tree to tree.

Yeah these type of things are for people who have money to burn and want to travel to a new city. Like ideally you'd go to the event, play for a bit and then enjoy the city and what is has to offer, but that requires time and money and not everyone has that. Personally, I don't feel conformable enough to go grind pokemon go in a unknown city, but that's just me 🤷🏽‍♂
I'm glad you still had fun, caught a nice haul of pokemon (2 hundo Necroz is worth) and got some content out of it.
