- Street Car Takeover Dallas had one HELL of a turnout this year! Besides all the unique/amazing street cars that showed up - we got to see THREE new Dodge Demons as well as a C7 ZR-1! Like most of the internet - we’ve been anxious to see this line up for a while now…and the result? You’re going to have watch the video to find out!

Klaus yeah of course i agree with you, i mean it’s totally doable, but considering that the Demon goes a little under 10 seconds and the zr1 a little over 10, i guess it’s all about the driver after that, it’s pretty close. But i still don’t see a Demon behaving as well as the zr1 on the Nurburgring though, as the Demon’s springs are softer in order to transfer the power properly to the wheels and not corner grip. Chevy is doing really good overall in my opinion

Fun fact: You can use the straight line speed in day to day driving. Highway ramps, red light/green light, anything. You cant/wont except on extremely rare occasions be cornering in day to day driving at 100 mph.
Unless you live the right state, doing 85 to 90 mph is commonplace.

I had an awesome time at the Street Car Takeover event and I wanted to thank you guys for letting me and Peter race even though he showed up late. For the people who think Peter isn't a great driver... he's one hell of a driver. The track wasn't as sticky as we would have liked, but once he gets some drag radials we're going to do it again. 😈😈😈

You can make a ZR1 fast,
but you can't make a Demon handle well.
If your talking about modding the ZR1 you can do the same with the demon and make it even faster..... Just strip the demon and make it lighter but also change the shocks and tires and boom you have a better handling car....

Vipers lowest sales year was the latest, in 2017 at 490 Vipers. In 2017, Chevy sold 32,780 Corvetted that's more than the total run of Vipers, but that's nothing.
I point this out because the Viper has been pulling Chrysler down for 25 years, the Viper never made Chrysler a single penny but has cost them hundreds of millions if not billions in research & development, design, testing, re-tooling and manufacturing along with warranty repair work. All of that was nothing but a chain and ball drag on Chrysler.
31,850 Vipers from 1992 is about 8,500 less Vipers sold than Chevy sold Corvettes in just a single year, again.... 2016...40,600 Corvettes In one year but there have been several years that Chevy sold over 32,000 Vettes! The C7 from its first year in 2014 until 2017 has sold over 32,000 each year.
Way back in the mid 70's not a car in the US made more than 225hp, the Vette was that 225hp but earlier had 190hp. From 1974 to 1980, 6 years of the worse Corvettes on planet earth Chevy sold better than 38,000 Vettes in 1975 that climbed each year until 1979 when 53,580 Vettes were sold. Waaaaahut!
After 1979 the amount dropped back down into the 40,000 sold range through 82. In 83 they made 43 of the all new C4 Corvettes that were re-licensed to 84's. The C4 in 84 sold out at 52,000 total. These numbers are why the Corvette makes money for GM and why other sports cars pull down their parent company.
That was pretty much what i expected from the dig race, but i would like to see a rerun with the zr1 on a similar size drag radial to the demon.

Okay, lets get the facts strait. the Corvette ZR1 for 2019 is designed to destory track records. The Demon Challenger is on what it was bred for, life a quarter-mile at a time. I would LOVE to see the same comparison made at Sonoma or Laguna Seca. The Vette will swallow every corner its thrown at, while the demon will be lucky if it can keep oversteer at bay. Out of the box these two cars are for two completely different styles of racing.

quick question was the ZR-1 unlocked. I believe the new c8 doesn't open up till 500 miles. Is that the same for the C7 ZR1. if so he only had 400 on it. the demon sounds really good

That's nonsense. There is no limitations on HP that won't be there after 500 miles (if there are any limitations). People are confused because the tach red-lines at 4500 before 500 miles and 6500 after that point. It's merely a marking on the tachometer. This does not limit the HP in any way. There are lots of warnings and points of suggestion regarding how hard to push the engine before 500 miles, especially changing oil at 500, but the ECU does not limit HP that will be allowed after that juncture. Top of the line ZR1 run in an ideal situation makes 755 hp before 500 miles and 755 after 500 miles. Now, as the car gets broken in, it will respond better and obviously the driver will gain some balls and step in it more readily, which gives them the impression that they now have unlocked some secret HP, but that's just perception.
Regarding this race, the demon driver had a lot more experience and better tires. The vette driver had an excellent showing for his first race in the car, but he should have broken it in more. Could have done some damage to the engine. The cars were very close, so tires and more experience would probably put the ZR1 on top. That said, you can't say the demon isn't a monster.

First off the pcm in the ZR1 holds the horsepower to 650 hp when in the break in. Dumb ass should have never raced the car within 500 miles
Not true. The Vette limits the tachometer to 4500 rpm for the first 500 miles. It does not limit horsepower nor does it prevent the owner from taking the engine to redline. ;)

The wing on the ZR1 should be removed for the rematch as well. Useful for actual racing, but just adds drag in a straight line run.
It can be adjusted to minimize drag.

I was blown away by how fast all these cars were--but then I remembered they that the majority of them are tuned, suped-up, or straight up built-from-scratch with only one goal: SHEER POWER. I saw the Dodge Demon get left in the dust by these cars, but keep in mind that the Demon is STOCK--meaning no added parts what-so-ever, except the drag radials.
The Demon-vs.-ZR1 race didn't suprise me much, though. The Demon is built for the Drag strip, and has close to 100hp more than the Corvette, despite being heavier. Though I will admit, the ZR1 looks badass, and I'd love to get my hands on one--as well as a Dodge Demon.
The demon owner called out street speed 717's name. I would like to see that demon race again against the zr1 in a roll race and I also would like to see that demon race 717's McLaren

some other issues, the demon has no down force wings and the Vette is designed for track racing and has a front internal wing and that huge rear wing. It sacrifices some drag for road holding down force. Need to strip out the wing for drag racing and put the aero panel front cover to block some air going through the front hood vent.
