  • here I have stripped and repainted a Singer Featherweight in bad shape. This was done at home without any fancy tools, except for what was necessary to take the machine apart and rebuild her when done. I absolutely love this one. Happy with the results.
    Thanks for watching. sew terie

    Wow Terie! She is beautiful, you are really getting good at this. It is an expensive hobby for sure 😂. I think the sanding was key for the texture of the paint, more work but better results. Lovely stitch too! One thing I have learned on newly painted machines is to take my rings off before I touch it. Learned that the hard way and had to do some touchups. Keep up the great work!

      Thanks so much Jenn. Oh, true about the rings. Yes, I think the sanding between the primer coats made the difference. Also the color of the base coat changes up the results as well. Thanks for your help always and thanks so much for watching and commenting. (These machines are multiplying. Two more up next.) Have a wonderful day.

    Would you mind sharing what primer and what paint you used? I don't see that in the comments and could use that info on a sad one that I picked up and hope to restore! Thanks.

    • @sewterie
      @sewterie  14 дней назад

      Hi Amy. I use Ctristrip striping gel to strip the paint. I then use a after wash when that is cleaned off. (I bet you could use a window cleaner as well. ) Then, on an aluminum machine, I use a self-etching primer. Any brand will do. A Featherweight is an aluminum machine. If it is an iron machine, I use a primer/filler. Rust-oleum for both.
      I hope you give it a try. Thanks so much for watching. I have more videos basically showing these steps if you care to browse around.
      Enjoy your day and KMP.
      P.S. I used Krylon Decor Selects Red Cherry spray paint.
