Sew Terie
США
Добавлен 31 июл 2006
Welcome. My videos are mostly things that have been requested. I like to restore, repaint and rebuild vintage sewing machines that have been left in the dust, sometimes quite literally. It keeps them out of the land fill. They tell a story, even if I don't know what that story is, a new one can be started.
I also like to post some funny animals, wild and domestic. Some of my videos are from many years ago of Brooklyn, New York.
I often say my channel is a place "where nothing goes with anything else. " A Hodge Podge. I hope you enjoy watching. Terie

How to create a Cork Strap for a Crossbody Bag
Просмотров 9521 день назад
I am showing how I create a cross body strap for a bag using cork fabric. Cork is made mostly from the bark of an Oak Tree. Taken from a tree that is about 20-30 years old, it doesn't damage the tree nor kill it. For this reason, many sewist prefer cork for bag making. Thanks for watching. sew terie

This is one of my Elephant Abstractions Quilts I made using Violet Crafts pattern. Love this pattern.Made it 3 times so far. I used a fabric line called Dog On It by Anna Lauer. I added a few complimentary fabrics as needed. Then I quilted it on my vintage Singer 201 -1 Simple quilting, mostly eching the shapes. I have been stuffing my tusks so I just call it a ME thing. Looking Beautiful!!!
Thank you. I think I am up to the fun part.
you're so funny! I drive with my KNEES! lol....i'd definitely fail my road test hahaha! Thanks for sharing!
I love joking around and laughing thru. Thanks Tammy. Be well.
I’m considering a speed controller although I’m going to wait on that for now. Just about to set up my own mini fame when I’ve got a Baby quilt pieced and ready for quilting. A speed controller (about $60) is cheaper than the stitch regulator and simpler to install. Not sure how you “ramp it up”like is usual to do with the foot pedal. But, Down the road I’m wanting to try laser on stencils or narrow paragraphs, seeing as the quilt area is roughly 6” by 15”. I am Wondering if you’re considering doing any of that? Thanks for showing your progress and learning curve! Very helpful. I plan to do a practice sandwich before I do the baby quilt. It’s got a busy fabric on the baby quilt, also will help on the learning!
Hi there. I am not sure they have a speed controller for all machines or especially for a vintage machine like mine. I am so used to it already that I can regulate my stitches and my movement pretty well or at least good enough for me and my current projects. You sound like you are all in and that is exciting. Definitely make a scrap quilt to play around with. I am so happy you are finding my updates helpful. It is why I am doing them. I think showing how the consumer sees things is a fair assessment of a product. I have to say I have just reached the happy part of this adventure. I struggled like everyone does with anything new. Be well, be safe and enjoy and please come back and let me know how it is going.
Simply breathtaking! I do love snow!!! Even with frigid temps, the sun is melting ours.
HI. I wish the sun was melting my car out. I bet I have to put my boots on tomorrow and get out there and help it along. Rats!!! Thanks for watching. It was very pretty last night when it was falling. Even I have to admit that.
Huge progress!!! Be proud!!!! 📯
Yes. Thanks! getting to the happy times now. Hugs.
Where are you?? If I knew I forgot.
Near Brooklyn NY. How is it going down where you are? It's so pretty when it first falls, isn't it? Hope you are well. Hi to Leo.
It’s beautiful. I love the way snow looks at night and how bright everything is. ❤
Me too Zaza. Me too. I just don't like being a grown up and dealing with snow. lol. Have a good one and thank you for coming by.
Very pretty 💜💜💜😊
Thank you Miss Ellen. I hope you are doing well. Thank you for coming by.
It finally showed, beautiful ❤
Yup. Ahhh to be a kid again and have mom bundle me up and scoot me outside to play. Ah and when I came in, peeled me out of those soaked gloves and hat and boots and made us hot cocoa. The best. Thanks for watching.
Hi Sew Teri ❤👋👋👋
Hi Miss Ellen you sweet dear one. Thanks for coming by. I will be over to your channel in a minute to see what you are up to. XO
@, I’m not live until Tuesday @1:pm. Thank you
Beautiful 😍

It’s so pretty!
I agree. I want to be a child again so when i fall in the snow I bounce right back up, don't you???? Thanks for coming by. Happy healing to you.
Hi Miss Seam Ripper. You're my best friend. lol. Thanks,
@ I remember those days but I don’t bounce back up anymore!😀
Pretty snow
Thanks Miss Seam Ripper. You're my best friend. Seam Ripper . . .Seam Ripper ... channeling LL.
Dang, it is beautiful but also so cold.☺
Too cold for me but from the window it is fine. Thanks Anne. Be well and safe and warm.
Thanks for sharing Sew Terie.
Thanks for watching. I hope you are safe and warm.
Same struggle in Ohio! Stay warm Terie!
You too Di. I am looking forward to the day when I am complaining about the heat. Stay safe and warm. Thanks for coming by.
@ Same!

So pretty 😊
I love the big tree outside my front porch. Looks majestic. Thanks.
How pretty
Thanks Mona. This is when I like it. Pristine, white snow. No footprints. lol
Using tape to mark the area! Great idea! I marked mine up with chalk…..I am using tape next time!
Oh so happy to share. The tape gave me a mental note. Worked out so much better than when I was hitting the bar. Thanks for watching. KMP on your progress please.
Nice Terie
Thanks. It is nice today. Let's see what it looks like tomorrow. Maybe I will get my boots out and do a walking video. Stay warm my friend. Order in!!! YAY!!!
very beautiful work hun. Thank you for sharing Terie.
Thank you and Thank you. and you are welcome.
Your quilt is looking wonderful. I like that you’re working on different types of quilting too. Have an amazing day and I’ll see you soon ❤😊
Thanks Jess. I think I like pebbles...or bubbles. lol. I really like dense quilting. I will see when I am done if I still like it. Thanks so much for coming by and commenting. I appreciate it.
Lol Terie!
Ya gotta laugh. Thanks Lroi. Stay warm up there. XO
Hello. You’re the only one showing how to and learn. I’m upset with my mom quilt frame. Can’t get the thread length right.
Thread length? Do you mean when you are moving your machine you aren't getting consistent stitching? Let me know and I will try to answer better. Thanks for watching.
It does get easier, right 😊, i have the Cutie Frame & it took me forever in the beginning to moved. But its all muscle memory now. 😊yours is looking great !! I need more time to play.😅
Thanks M. Yes, It is getting easier. Loving the adventure. Thanks for your encouragement. Be well.
is there different sizes of the cutie frame and can any domestic be used with it? Enjoyed the video and thank you for sharing!
There are different frames. This is the MINI. there or others that are Cuties. They say any domestic from 6 - 13 inches. Thank for watching Katy. Be well.
@@sewterie thank you for answering. ;) :)
I love how you use tape to mark it out, knowing where your machine would stop coming forward. When I’m long arming, I have a ruler. Those plastic measuring tape is actually right before my machine would stop to make sure that I don’t have any wonky curves or anything.. thanks for filming this. You’re doing an amazing job and I will see you sometime on the RUclips.
Thank Jess. Yes. I have those wonky stitched edges so I really have to stay away from the edges of I don't want square circles. lol. Prince Sebastian is getting this quilt so I am more concerned about learning than anything right now. The pooch doesn't care about my quilting. lol. Thanks so much and of course, See ya when I see ya!
Wow! You are definitely getting the hang of the new frame
Yes. It is harder learning how much force to use on my pedal and on moving a 30 pound machine to get the stitches I want. I am getting it thou. Got in the groove!!! lol Thanks so much for commenting and watching.
Thanks so much for the videos. I picked up my frame this afternoon, still in box. I have learned alot from you. Thanks again.
You are very welcome. I hope you get to it soon and you enjoy it. Be patient. everything takes time. Please come back and let me know how it goes. Be well.
Looks great Terie ! I hope it's not a complete failure. I use only one hand. Arthritis i severe in my left. I will give it a go again next time I'm on my midarm 😊
Hi. I am full of arthritis as well so I understand. I was doing that because I was holding the camera that time and I thought it would be funny to use it. We all need to laugh, right? Wow, a midarm. That must be nice to have. Thanks again for coming by. Be well.
Wow loo k s great😂❤
Thanks. I am getting it done as my pain allows. Thanks for coming by. I appreciate it. Be well.
Lol, student driver
yup. This feels like driving only less dangerous.
Looks great!
Thanks. Getting there.
progess is good.
Thanks Tammy.
Yup. Forward going!!! Thanks for watching.
Beautiful ❤
Thank you. One step closer.
How are you feeling overall? Definitely a learning curve.
Feeling good so far. Less confused with the process. Learning to sit while I do it at times. How is it going with you and your new adventure? I am sure you are wayyyy ahead of me since all of this is pretty new to me. Thanks for watching.
🎼 Just keep quilting 🎶 just keep quilting 🎵
Or swimming, swimming, swimming. 💚💚💚
You are doing a great job Terie. Keep it up and practice, practice, practice!!!❤
Thanks Darlene. The key is I am having fun doing it. Be well.
TFS I M thinking about herring a Cutie Breeze 💜💜💜 AuntieEllen
I am wavering too but this is as invested as I want to be until I know I can get the hang of it. The Breeze looks awesome and well. KMP. Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment. I appreciate it. Be well.
you're doing a great job!!! Soon I'll catch up to you. ✨♥
DEB!!!! Yes. Please do Cutie!!!! Thanks for watching. 💚💚💚
You have made a big improvement 👏 ❤ love to watch you.
Thank you so much Banana Jo. I am having fun learning. Thanks for watching. 💜💜💜💜💜
@sewterie 💜💜💜
Hi you are doing fantastic the thing with your thread might be better using aurofil on that machine were your glide is good using it on your other machine I have made weights by using big washers and putting them in a square envelope of material hope this helps 👍🏻
That does help. I made some weights. I just didn't use them here. Do you think I should have? I will try today. Also, The glide looks so pretty. I do have Aurifil. Love it. If it happens again I will switch and let you know. Thanks for the wonderful feedback and for watching. I imagine you are a quilter. I am just learning. Be well and safe and Enjoy.
@ awww thanks for that compliment but I’m like yourself just learning with the cute frame have done it on free motion quilting a few times by machine but my machine usually loves autofill but not when I use the cute I have to use glide I don’t know why I watched a RUclipsr about the clamps and they recommend to just clamp the bottom of the quilt at the side
Glad i found your channel. Have the cutie frame and just getting ready to quilt on it. Love how you marked off your area. Love the Glide thread but wonder if cotton thread would be better for FMQ? Im a beginner so have no clue
Thank you. Yes. Someone else mentioned using an all cotton thread like Aurifil. So I will be trying that next. So glad you found my channel as well. I only started quilting in the last couple of years but now I am taking more of an interest in it than before. Have fun with your skill-building as well and please come back and let me know how it is going. Have a good day and again, thank you for watching.
Terrie where do you have your foot pedal at. I love the idea of using a vintage machines.
Hi. I have it on the floor. I made a longer cord for it so that it would reach. Not hard to do. I left it long enough so that I can move around the frame if I need to. I also swapped out the original foot for the newer pedal I found on the Featherweight Shop. They also sell the cords alone if you want to try it. I have many vintage machines that use the vintage foot so I didn't want to modify that cord. Do you have a 201 as well? Thanks so much for watching and leaving feedback. Enjoy.
No, I have a 99k and 15-91. What about the feed dogs? Does the 201 have feed dog drop capabilities.
@@janicejackson9179 @janicejackson9179 Hi. I think the 99K is too small for this frame. It has a 6" throat while the 15-91 has a 7". The machine I am using has an 8" just for reference and I CAN drop the feed dogs. On the 15-91 you can drop the feed dogs turning a screw below the machine or you can get a feed dog cover OR you can try putting tape over them. Thanks for the comment. If you have any more questions, please ask. If I don't have the answer, I will try to find it for you. Have a good one.
You are doing great Terie 😊
Thank you Junebug. Thanks for watching. Hope you are doing well. 💜
Getting better everyday… now the planning of the pattern to sew across the quilt! 💜
YUP. I have to stop being a 1st grader. It is fun but I guess I should grow up sometime. (cry) I have some ideas to be more consistent instead of switching it up all the time. Maybe pebbles or just wavey or serpentine. (My head is whirling around up there.) Thanks so much for watching and thank you always for your expert suggestions. I appreciate it. 💜💜💜💜💜💜
Awesome
Thank you
Wow you done great
Thank you Nancy. I am having fun with this.
