Thx for this video, you give me inspiration to practice FMQ on my regular machine, practice makes perfect. I have to take a look at the feet that came with my machines and get crackin!
Practice does make perfect or at least close to it. I know it is a matter of giving it time to get the hand/eye coordination and them the sky is the limit. Hmm. Sky. Maybe quilt some clouds and stars??? Thanks for watching Joyti. Hope it helps.
Thank you Lesa. I hope but I inspire??? Maybe when I get it right but I do hope others will try it out because once it clicks, it clicks. Oh, and I practiced more feathers. So more to come. Thanks for watching. I really do appreciate you.
Teri you are not only amazing but brave. I never thought to quilt on my featherweight. Thanks so much, loving it not sure I have the right foot but will check.
@@sewterie I only have six now. One is a dedicated Embroidery Machine. I sold my Singer 201 when I downsized. 60 years of collecting mostly Singer Sewing machines. One Spartan. Also sold. 💜💜💜
@@GQUATTRADITIONZS That sounds like a nice collection. I just bought a Spartan at auction. Can't wait till it gets here. I have plans already. lol Hmm. Embroidery. Do you have a video? I have never tried to embroider on it.
Thanks so much! I have a Singer 201 from a few months back and I love it and I wanted to try free motion quilting but have been hesitating! Thanks for this fun demo. I have got a mini practice quilt actually on my machine along with the brand new foot. I think I will just have some fun and give it a go!!!! You Rock!
Yes. Have fun. That's what it's all about. The 201 is a great machine. Powerful too. Best wishes. God slow and them pedal to the metal. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. More to come.
On the top, left side of the machine, you release presser foot pressure by turning that knob. Left to loosen. Right to tighten. Thanks for watching. Feel better friend.
You crack me up. I hope you try this on Tilly. She can do this. My 66 is my go to for FMQ but I had the 201 set up already. Thanks for coming by and commenting. I appreciate it. See ya soon.
Hi. That is a very inexpensive foot I bought as a set on Amazon. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07M9BHHND/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8 Came with a few. I like this one. Thanks for watching. Hope it helps.
I looked in my 221-1 case but didn't find the foot. Box of many parts an manuel but not the foot. Will continue my search, thank you for all the yezrs I liked it because I am small so is She.
That quilt panel is adorable! Do you know what it’s called and/or where you got it? If I might make a suggestion, if you have not already started the real quilt: If you use a thread color that matches the background, whatever it is, white, or off-white, then you could quilt a little bit outside the animals, and then you wouldn’t have to stay right on the line and then if you had any bobbles or boo-boos, they won’t show so much because they’ll blend into the background; and once the quilt is washed, and it gets all crinkly, then it won’t be noticeable at all! This was fun to watch. I hv my grandmothers Singer from abt 1935, but I’ve never tried to use it. Someday, I need to get it out and spiff it up and try it! TFS. 🌺
What an excellent idea! I think I will do that. I have not quilted it yet for fear I ruin it, but seriously, some times you have to go for it. If it works out, fine. If not, plan B. Right? Yes. Get that vintage out and give it a whirl. I know time gets away from us but it may make a very nice afternoon. KMP. Thanks for the excellent suggestion and for coming by and commenting.
Susan, the fabric is From: (typed just like it is on the fabric edge) THE ALEXANDER HENRY FABRICS COLLECTION 2013 and it is called "abc with me" DE LEON DESIGN GROUP. I actually just bought it at Hobby Lobby and didn't know it was that old. Sorry I didn't answer sooner. Thanks again.
Terie, I love that you are showing us your process and what you're thinking as you go. Each time that you talk about the shape, or about how your feather isn't quite a feather (or whichever shape), my thought was thats it's difficult to do what you're doing. I know it can sometimes be quite challenging to sew near, or around, a tripod, carry on a conversation, and keep your head in the game. It is next level boss and you are the boss! ❤🪡🧵🥰
It is hard to juggle. And because I really don't quilt much, I have to learn and do and then re-learn and do. As for the tripod! It is always in the way no matter where it is. Thanks so much for watching and supporting. I really do appreciate it very much. Hope you have a good rest of the weekend.
@sewterie I don't practice FMQ'ing like I should. I keep telling myself I'm going to, but then... well, you know how that can go, lol. I think I'd enjoy it, and even at my first tries, I did ok with it, so it is something that I'd like to pursue. But like you, I give it a go, but I'm not doing it often enough to keep up my skills. What I learn when sitting down to it, I unlearn because I don't practice it often enough. Have a great day!
The function of sewing gloves is to make stronger fingerprints to move the cloth. You cut off the finger tips of your gloves so you have only the usual fingerprints. Why wear gloves at all? Surely you don't think you'd catch the back of your hand under the needle???
I find them very helpful. I use the palms of my hands to keep the quilt from slipping out from under my hands. Maybe quilting gloves function differently but this seems to work just fine for me. I will however try your advice with a pair without the tips cut off. I found it hard to use snips and pick things up with a complete glove on. Thanks for the input and for coming by. I appreciate it. Be well.
Really neat.
Thanks so much.
Good for you! You did better than I could. I found you very inspiring. Thanks for posting!

TErie wonderful you are a great teacher 😍
Thanks Gisela. Now you know what NOT to do, right? XO Thanks for watching.
WOW girl you're awesome. How do you relieve the pressure on the pressure foot on a featherweight
On the top, left side of the machine, you release presser foot pressure by turning that knob. Left to loosen. Right to tighten.
Thanks for watching. Feel better friend.
Great work!! I used to practice FMQ on my JANOME M7. To much anxiety. Lol. Accuflex for ME.
Loved The Elephant🥰🥰
My brain is not trainable 💜💜💜
You crack me up. I hope you try this on Tilly. She can do this. My 66 is my go to for FMQ but I had the 201 set up already.
