Of course you can buy currently updated ps4's for low. It's just a regular used ps4. However when it hasn't been updated in a couple of years, it suddenly becomes more valuable.

With certain games not working with a certain firmware i mostly wait til they phase out the current consoles and shift the focus on the next generation Consoles
Thats what i did with ps3, idk if this will be possible in the future with ps4 but i don't put any task out of reach for the Jail breaking Community, those guys are amazing.
As games goes further into "Gaming as a Service " games being tied to being completely online to work and Xbox with the Game pass basically trying to become the Netflix of gaming
all this will be a fond memory in 10 years.

I have a question: Let's say I were to do this and I were to put PS2 games on my console that we're not from the PSN store... Would I be able to then update my PS4, thus getting rid of the exploit, but still keep and play the ps2 games that I installed before that? Kind of like a get in get out sort of a situation?

I have a spare ps4 that's been sitting since around for at least 4 or 5 years. This might be good for the kids if the setup isn't too complicated. Getting the games, launching them, etc etc.. thx. They don't need to be online anyway imo

Forget about spoofing. Better a way to patch games for lower firmwares (newer games that can run on the public exploits)!

PS3 Jailbreaking was great, I jailbroke my ps3 in 2012 before PS4 came out and it felt great to have the latest console jailbroken.. I still have my ps3 today and I can play online 👍

Can you data transfer your modded patches over to the updated console that has PSN access? It worked with the PS3, but it was an unpopular method that many stopped trying during that time because other custom firmware and spoofers came out that allowed online access while being able to keep the jailbreak.

When the next console generation starts, I’m switching to pc, so after a few years I’d expect ps4 to be jail broken to its final patch , so no worries here
Why switch to pc then at that point the specs of the ps5 will be near what a gaming pc is just get a monitor and mouse and keyboard
George LOL. Not even close, the specs of a PS5 can't compare to a fully specced pc. Now of course console is freat, but there are a number of reason that you should get a pc and PS5
1. No platform limits, all Xbox games go on pc, then you have millions of pc games that won't be on comsole
2. Pc still has better modding support
3. Pc has better peripheral support even with consoles.supportimg mouse/keyboard better support for drivers ect

@@geodude6244 I switched to pc and I'm never going back to console. WAYYY more games to play, and super old games look amazing in 4k upscaled with max settings and uncapped fps. Not to mention being able to hit a button and search anything you want or listen to videos then switch back to the game instantly

I understand but the thing is the PS3 exploit has been known as a Jailbreak for the last 10 years. So people from that scene know what you're talking about when you say PS4 Jailbreak. When you say modded that could mean anything. You could have just a debug chip or maybe just the disc drive is exploited or maybe the whole console is. It's just too vague a term.

Damn I'm late to the party on this one cause of KH3. I'm gonna keep this jailbreak hex in mind though since I recently got a PS4 Pro. Once PS5 comes out there'll likely be another update for the PS4 by then. Hopefully at that point I'll be able to jailbreak my old ps4 since it'll have the older firmware on that console at that point. I don't wanna risk putting the pro in danger tho. I could sell that baby for a good 200 banannas once the PS5 comes out. I don't plan on getting the ps5 right away tbh. I regretted getting the ps4 early n alot of others regretted getting the ps3 early too. So ima just try to play it smart for now. PS4 is still pretty mad powerful and can probably run any ps2 game at a nice display when jailbroken.

@@togsworth8425 try booting into Linux via an USB stick and renaming the file utilman.exe by utilman.old and cmd.exe by utilman.exe and then using the cmd to create an admin session in the Windows login menu by clicking on the ergonomy option wich will bring the cmd with admin privileges
Mognodor my school system has managed to block usbs loading in order to boot from a usb you need a admin password

Is the Days Gone required firmware 6.51 or what? I've got a stock system with a bad drive and cannot update to anything past 6.50 even if I try. Kingdom Hearts from PSN requires 6.51 as a head's up to anyone else.

you're lucky then, yes you can, but you run the risk of Sony realizing it and may have your jailbreak PS4 desactivated (yes, they can and do that, it is in the legal terms) so you run a little risk about it, wich is kinda hard of get if you correctly handle HEN, just evade doing any online contact with the pirated PS4 unless is for getting into the jailbreak stuff

Using Linux is the perfect thing to do on an old used ps4 (that hopefully runs 5.05)

I have my regular ps4 sitting on 5.53..... Been waiting for over a year now for a new exploit.... The problem I think is that they are reluctant to release the newer exploit and have Sony immediately patch it in the latest releases and make them even harder to exploit. I don't think another exploit will be publicly released until the new generation of consoles arrive.... =\

If you have a pc or laptop you can do the update but also you need a usb stick or external hard drive you can update to 5.05
