      @@LovesArt23 exactly !!😣😞 Cinderella’s dress in the remake is so beautiful and unique! It automatically grabs your attention. The butterflies, the color, the skirt. 💙 I would love to wear that dress so there should be no excuse for Belle’s dress being so lackluster in the remake. Cinderella is the honesty best live action remake IMO.

    I may be in the minority, but i dont like the plot of her tryimg to escape. Part of Belles character that made her sacrifice so huge was the fact she KEEPS HER WORD. She didnt make the agreement planning to escape already. She made it knowing it was forever. That was the point of her sacrifice. She didnt even try to leave until he scared her and told her to "get out". I dont know, its just really important to her character to me.

    • @cecilyerker
      @cecilyerker 2 месяца назад +11

      Yeah, she traded her freedom for her dad’s freedom because he was old and got sick in the jail cell and needed to go home and recover. She was angry and didn’t want to see the Beast but she agreed to be his prisoner, at least for a time.

    I feel like Emma Watson did great as Hermione, so i was kinda dissapointed in how... lackluster she portrayed Belle, even without knowing all the extra details. I do feel like it was only her yellow dress that didn't look good. i liked all her other dresses, because unlike the yellow dress, they looked pretty accurate...

      I totally agree!

    • @hamimahanuar
      @hamimahanuar 2 месяца назад +102

      the issue with emma as belle is that, instead of embodying the character of belle, she turned belle into herself. based on interviews, she didn’t seem to have a strong grasp of belle’s character. she kept insisting that belle was just like her; however, the only real similarities she could point out were that she was born in france, like belle who's french, and that they both love to read. that's it, which is very surface-level. emma was great as hermione because hermione was a lot like her, and she even admitted that she _was_ hermione. but hermione and belle are two completely different characters, yet emma seemed to think they were similar, which is why her portrayal of belle sucked. she projected herself rather than actually understanding the character.

    • @Acidfrog475
      @Acidfrog475 2 месяца назад +21

      I honestly prefer her blue village dress in the live action than her animated version. The only problem is, once again, Emma’s moronic aversion to stays. If the stays felt uncomfortable THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FITTING, NOT THE STAYS THEMSELVES.

    Love the roses on the dress and in the hair, I had an idea with them. While Belle and Beasty are dancing, twirling in the ball room maybe the rose petals would start to fall, kinda to subtaly remind the audience and the Beast that this moment can't last for ever and that he is running out of the time (maybe he would even have a subtle reaction to falling rose petals, like his eyes dialating but trying to stay calm)

    I can be tolerant of the fact that Disney, a multimillion-dollar company, makes very bad outfits in its remakes, but one thing I can't understand.... Why the hell they didn't give Belle the damn gloves in the remake?! Like, this is a huge part of her image. And it also disappoints me because the Disney princesses who became such married princes (Belle, Tiana, Cinderella) have gloves, but other princesses are not, and for me this is an interesting detail for reasoning. But it was removed in the remake.

    🥀 Stunning design!
    I feel a direction the live-action adaptation could have leaned into was the old saying "never judge a book by its cover". Yes, 1991 Belle was intelligent, cordial, and tackfully witty, to me she came off as dismissive of others who's interests didn't align with hers as well as established boundaries. She refers to the people within the small provincial town by job title when everyone has made an effort to know her and her father's names, she does attempt surface level connections with some people and while they do validate her likes they're at present focused on other takes to which she seems oblivious to, and dispite being told access to the enchanted castle is open except the west wing she disregards said limit near immediately. I would have liked a scene where Beast and Belle talk about their experiences, he points out to her that while she may view the townsfolk/others as uninspiring or distant there is more to them underneath the surface through the magic mirror. He could have pointed out that being raised to his staff for so long under the curse allowed him to view them as more than their occupation/station where he took the time to learn their stories, names, and struggles.
    Regardless, I would love to see your take on Aurora's gown and whether it'll be pink, blue, or shot silk that's iridescent... Best wishes!

    I'm in love with this redesign, it really says a lot when artists and cosplayer are able to make such gorgeous and thoughtful dresses for some of these live action disney princesses than the actual movies.
    Also at 1:53, I wanna clear up some misinformation. Aurora's mom is alive at the end of the original movie... both her parents are.
    I know the maleficent movies retcon that, but I'd consider that separate from the original 1959 animated movie.
    I think Aurora is a disney princess who most people write off as the princess who sleeps most of her movie and boring, but if you really look into her original story... it's about depression and overcoming it, and finding your own happiness in life with the help of a loving support system. I wish more people would watch the original movie with that in mind. It might change people's minds on her.
    Im sorry for the rant to whomever reads this, Aurora is my life-long favorite disney princess, and I can't wait to see Lovesart23's take on her once she gets around to her.

    You did such a fabulous job with Belle's dress! Love the addition of the roses I like that extra symbolism, that's always fun to spot in films. Also little thing apparently Belle being an inventor in the remake irc was also Emma Watson's idea, she really had a lot of influence on how Belle was depicted in the live action film shame none of it adds to her character at all (like seriously Belle's inventing skills never play a part at all later in the film).

      @PixelSparrow 2 месяца назад +4

      @@LovesArt23 right? Sadly seems to be a running theme with these remakes they’ll add stuff but it doesn’t add anything to the story. Another example being that teleporting book the beast has, doesn’t add anything, isn’t used later in the story, just there to tell us “oh btw here’s what happened to Belles mother and why she isn’t around!” Okay cool fam, didn’t need to know that. At least have Belle use it to teleport to her dad or back to the castle or something.

    I don't think it's possible for me to scream louder than I have in other redesign videos here, but I desperately need to. Because this is, hands down, one of my favorites you've ever done! The dress is everything my Rococo-loving (and 18th century in general) heart has ever dreamed of for Belle! Her natural, soft makeup and green eyes are such a winning match, too. Something about how she looks at the viewer... I can't describe it, but it's just so... *right.*
    I appreciate the mythbusting on corsets, as well. Though there *is* one thing I'm in disagreement about; somehow I doubt Watson came up with the misinformation on her own due to her and the team churning out a godawful product. You'd be surprised how many modern people are misinformed on corsets or any form of stays, given that we've had well over a decade of movies feeding us propaganda on how bad and oppressive they are without being made to question those ideas further. I can hardly blame Emma for that alone. She's strong and wrong, but she isn't unique in that particular brand of stupidity.

    I remember being in the movie theater and being so initially impressed by the prologue and then the chorus townspeople during Belle that Emma Watson’s autotune was such a slap in the face. I also can’t help but notice that the pattern of the dress is identical to Hermione’s Yule Ball dress and Emma Watson’s basically trying to relive that scene of Hermione coming down the stairs in the pink dress at the Yule Ball.

    The redesing is so beautiful! It reminds me of a really pretty cosplay i saw of Belle, and the roses are a great complement to the look, they really help break all the gold in the dress. Also, her freckles ♥️
    What you said about the corsets is so true, Disney really droped the ball with Lily James, since she talked about how the corset she wore for Cinderella was too tight and made it dificult to dance, on top of that i think they put her on diet to archive the small waist effect.
    Wich is crazy because the dress skirt is so big that her waist would have looked small anyway.
    The problem wasn't really the corset, is that they tight-laced her on top of the dress being kinda heavy.
    Belles dress could have been better if they at least aded more details, on top if the dress being flat it was boring, they didn't even give her gloves.

    This redesign kinda reminds me of Lottie's princess dress from the costume party scene from Princess and the Frog. Both big and puffy, both period accurate (Well, Charlotte was in the 1920s when wearing it, so as accurate as it could be) both way more beautiful than the sad dress we got.

    God your redesign was a breath of fresh air!
    Beauty and the Beast was and still is my FAVORITE Disney movie. I too was a kid that loved reading and got made fun for it, and I got told a lot I looked like Belle (and I really liked the beast, the start of my love for monsters😅). I also grew to love fashion, with the rococo period being one of my favs. When this movie came out I was ecstatic, but when I watched it my hopes were slowly dashed
    Although, I definitely appreciated how everyone (but Emma) was dressed, and Josh Groban as the Beast and the Evermore song were great.
    Im also sad because the beast, once again, just turned back into a pretty boy. I really wished his human form after he turns back became hairy instead of reverting back to the pretty boy. Like I get it’s the beauty standard for men of the time, but like he was cursed for so many years, I want dark hair and a beard! If Emma can wear that awful dress, the beast can be rugged.

    For my graduation ceremony, Grandma sewed a beautiful, golden yellow dress inspired by Anastasia and Belle's yellow dresses. It didn't have a lot of bling, but it showed great on camera and video. Gran knew how to work with satin, especially when it comes to enhancing silhouettes. It had a circle skirt and dropped sleeves. I think it looks better than Emma's dress.

    While I think Emma Watson can be a good actress, the problem I have with her in this film is that it felt like she wanted to play herself rather then Belle
    Apparently she had a lot of say for Belle's character, it's why Belle's dress and character is so diffrent compare to the original. While I don't think it's inherently a bad idea to give suggestions for a character (I actually like the idea of Belle being an inventor like her father) it's kinda disrespectful to change a character that a lot of people grew up with in order to basically play yourself. I find her comments towards corsets especially tone deaf cause even as someone with no knowledge of costume design knows that there's a lot of misconceptions of corsets and that they aren't painful or cause you to faint when you wear them
    Again I do think Emma Watson did mean well, but I do feel like she was misguided with the changes she wanted for Belle as well as missed the point of her character

    1:52 I haven't seen the live action in years, but I think I did find the extra background that they wanted to give to Beauty and Beast's parents strange, especially the latter's with his dead mother and his father who spoiled him. It's like: Thanks, but it wasn't necessary.

    I love the addition of the roses they make the dress just different enough to justify (in my opinion) a remake while still keeping the whole look recognizable and adding more layers of meaning to the scenes she would be in dressed like that. and I do love a more time period accurate version of a Disney princess dress. The animated one is already in a way a simplified and modern design so trying to make it more simplified and modern seemed redundant to me I guess everyone was just in full girlboss fever instead of thinking what would make sense. I already ranted about the corset misinformation in the Snow White video so I’m not gonna repeat myself here but thank you for taking the time to point all that nonsense out it’s refreshing to hear other people talk about it too.

    Honestly, I think they did Emma's dress so plain bc they wanted it to look like the one from the original movie, but due to her interference and their intentions to cut budget, we ended up having that monstrosity of a dress.
    Glad to see you took into account historical references and made it beautiful! I'd die to see a dress like that worn in real life! It's also funny bc when I saw her hair I thought of a rose bush, though I don't know if that was intented or not, lol.

    BELLE??
    Could you PLEASE (ofc if you get time) work on Beast? Idk why but… something off and I can’t place my finger on why.
    Belle and Beast are both so good in the original.
    I was hoping that Belle would’ve punched Gaston, Emma Waston was pretty for her role. But I rather would have someone who’s been in the singing and acting. It would make sense.
    Don’t get me wrong she did a good job. As I’ve seen her work from other movies. But I hated the dress, I wanted to see the roses on her dress. That’s literally my favorite part of the design.

Thought i didn't watch the movie, i just really like the book, wished that Alice looked more like the time period she lived in, or had more wonderland-ish elements (???). I know, she's just a regular girl in a dreamland inside her head, but i wanted Alice to match with the rest of the character or that her dress changed appearance the more the history progressed, you know? Ngl I think making the remakes was the fall of the remakes. The only good ones are Aladdin, 101 Dalmations, Cruella, Maleficent, and Cinderella. And of those, all but Cinderella and Maleficent were mainly juat carried by the costuming and cinematography (Im willing to give some leeway to 101 Dalmations because Glenn Close was fucking *phenomenal*, but her performance was mostly what made the movie and without her i feel like it wouldve been just average so)
