There is a Irish vampire movie from 2020 called BOYS FROM COUNTY HELL that is about a bunch of teenagers that destroys Abhartach's grave and awakens him.
Well, at least I now know what I must do when my old man eventually croaks. Lord knows what he might do to the local squirrel polulation if he came back as a vampire...
Yeah. I don't know if there's much around it but that's Ireland at its best, random villages and countryside. Hope to travel there again some time. Thanks for watching!
@@Anttimation Quite rarely to be honest! It lacks much publicity it seems. I live just off of Garvagh so its very close to me, I learned about it as I went to the local primary school when I was kid which has a site in Glenullin and Garvagh. There is also apparent fairy trees nearby which are very bad luck to approach.
Sure, auld Bram almost certainly was inspired by the story of Abhartach, given that he spent most of his childhood bedridden & listening to his mother tell all sorts of ghost stories & fairie tales. There's also a theory that he was a closeted bisexual man, which wouldn't be surprising given the themes of passion & forbidden desire in his work, as well as his being good friends with the famously gay Oscar Wilde
I love the concept local saint, implying there must be one in every village jajaja
Maybe they are all governed by global saints?
Nicely done! I love the art, especially how Abhartach is represented! Congrats!
Thank you! This was a fun one to do.

Sounds like a solid horror flick in the hands of the right director!
Neat!
Very interesting. Why hasn't Hollywood made a movie out of this? It would be perfect!
There is at least one Irish movie that's on the comedic side. Don't remember its name but I'm sure Google can find it.
Boys From County Hell is the name of it I believe.
Has anyone checked that he is still there?
Opening a vampire's grave sounds like an idea that couldn't possibly go wrong!

Never knew you were a nature conservator!

That was cool!
I wish I could go there

@@MrJman9001 ok interesting! I'd certainly like to visit if I end up in Ireland again. Have only been briefly to Limerick and Dublin.

What about Abhartach, the Irish lord who is a vampire?
@@nicholasrobson1430 is he a different dude than the one in the video?
@@Anttimation sorry I commented on the wrong video. I was using this one to spell his name right.
