Redd Kross. Sometimes bands just hit the curve too far ahead. Even with their retro kitsch, the world never got in sync with these guys. I found this cassette(Third Eye) in a dollar bin at a record shop in OKC. I liked the cover and got it…popped it in my car stereo and Annie’s Gone hit me like polyester bricks. Just fun and power pop centric. I loved Bubblegum Factory and Elephant Flares. I played that cassette until it wore out. I then got Phaseshifter on cd and man…Lady in the front row and Ms Lady Evans…I still play those tracks! Without Redd Kross we wouldn’t have gotten Jellyfish. Now that’s a band of pure genius.
I had Jeff McDonald's exact hair for years, including when I first saw them live in 1990, lol. Freaking love these guys; it will forever be a mystery to me how and why they didn't become massive!
It's because; ironically in that they were still quite young, they'd been around 'too long' and the business needed some 'younger' rip off merchants (with a modicum of credibility) to take 'Alternatve Rock' to the mainstream. (Cue - Nirvana)
@@Scotty-PIt didn't help either that they never really slot in neatly anywhere: too oddball to fit in with the hair bands, too bubblegum for grunge. They just always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, doing their own thing.

The "R" section of my collection stands so tall. Ramones, Redd Kross, Roger Whittaker, Rolling Jones. This band is THE MOST!!! How does one NOT become a fan?

To this day I have never met anyone else who has ever heard of Redd Kross IRL...and I feel bad for them. What a great band. What great hair. 😂
so...it wasn't quite NEUROTICA...buT! it had some of what a lot of us went to see onstage in the late 80's in hollywood or downtown LA. one show, they somehow got the entire McDonald's Land set from the tv commercial! another show opened with a wild film short they shot at La Brea Tar Pits or something like that...anyway--REDD KROSS was simply the best live band ever--(and i had seen Zeppelin in '77!) another show had the entire Tubular Bells into Linda Blair. once they did an encore of The Beatles "Rain" and i couldn't stop hearing and seeing that in my head for the next two weeks! i ended writing my best song ever from that >(Do You Want Me Tonite). any song from Neurotica had me losing it, i could easily go into a psychedelic flashback if they played McKenzie, Play My Song or Peach Kelli Pop. hell, i was even at the Shonen Knife show too... :)

They were so cool in the movie Spirit of 76'
I saw Redd Kross on the same bill with Jellyfish and An Emotional Fish at The Ritz in NYC. What a riot that was, man!!!
I can't wait for the documentary
Great song from a great album!! "Third Eye" remains one of my all time faves to this day. Such an underrated and underappreciated piece of music!!!
Whoa, Jack Irons on drums!!!!
I'm glad someone else noticed too!

cuz they are weak and lame hippies
Love Ann Magnuson in this vid!
rediscovering Red Kross .... didn't know much of their stuff really ... love this! And the hair .. I want hair like that ...so swooshy ....
This is a fun record. Enjoyed seeing them touring this back then. Cactus Club, San Jose.
Robert was always a pleasure to listen to. Great guitarist.
I've always loved this song and video. My god that man is pretty! And the hair, all the gorgeous hair! The bangs are just an awesome touch.
always been a red kross fan but in this èra I feel they put too much emphasis on their image, also too many hair flips..lol
Great album. Probably my favorite Redd Kross album. I wish they'd remaster it.
This song deserves this video.
I MEAN JUST THE COSTUME CHANGES MELTED MY MIND.
Robert Hecker is a great guitarist.

Great single!!! If there is (was?) any justice in the music biz, this would have been A HIT!
This whole fucking album should have been huge. Bubblegum Factory is a pop gem as is this track.
Spectacular talents!!!!!!
Third Eye is a great album. It's a big tribute to 70's pop.
I remember them from when I was a teenager, thought I’d check them out properly.
Glad I did 💚❌

I loooooove Rocky Schenck! Everything he does is so weird and awesome!
Fucking power pop anthem of the 90s. Should have been a massive hit.
