Retroblasting saves the day ...again. After a long draining busy workweek...having a bad restaurant experience with day old dry turkey dinner and store bought pumpkin pie passed off as made from scratch not to mention having the gall to call me to say we didn't pay the bill which turned out to be a computer glitch and their error...nearly getting into 3 car crashes driving home tonight in the first winter snowstorm without 4wd working in my 2019 Ram truck..Ive settled in for the night at my mountainside cabin with a warm toasty woodstove and just watched this wonderfully nostalgic video. Cheers Retroblasting....you made it all worthwhile and brought a smile to my face. The 12 year old boy inside me from 1982 thanks you.
It’s nice to see a shift in tone in this video. I took a long break from this channel, because I was tired of the defensive attitude and what I perceived as much ado about nothing. The info presented here is thorough and objective. I’m only a casual fan of Star Wars collectibles, but I appreciate a straight-forward round-up of the current offerings for vintage collectors.
These figures and additions are what is needed. Remember the Kenner "we really cares policy" Which can't be said about the modern manufacturers today. Ace video Sir💥💥💥💥💥
I have always wondered why Hasbro doesn't complete the Kenner Star Wars vintage line. The only 2 new figures (Tarkin and Luke Snowspeeder pilot) they made were put inside board games that no one I know wanted at all... and that's it. Mandalorian vintage-style figures are ok... but what most collectors really want is completing their Kenner line with the characters that were never released. I am really puzzled about this...
I'm totally in love with the Stan Solo figures I've so far purchased. They are just so nice and of the best quality possible. you have to see them in the flesh to believe how great they are. I now have 6 figures with another 8 figures on the way. Just a shame I cant find the lovely black death Star Droid and the C3p0 figure with the chrome shin. I can foresee these brilliant products becoming very collectible themselves in the not too far off future. Well Done!!
When the best companies like hasbro can offer is retro figures on thin card backs it’s great that fans step up and bring out the parts collectors wanted and bring original ideas to the table
I love how the fans are creating Star Wars figures and items that enhance any vintage collection. I might get inspired to collect vintage Star Wars again. Thanks for this awesome video!
Fantastic video - you need to trademark “the fans are doing the best work”-! That Luke skywalker upgrade is amazing in its simplicity and practicality, thanks for great video Michael
Thank you so, so very much for going through all of these fan made offerings. I have have finally been able to display my vintage figures in their glass case and have been wanting to add these figures as well.
#retroblasting . I own both a Sandtrooper and a Rebel Fleet Trooper from the defunct Vader Trader, to me they are way superior than the Procustoms's. The Sandtrooper actually fits nicely in the hatch from a Dewback (this perhaps could have been mentioned in the video). Also, there was no comparison of the Rebel Fleet Troopers (Vader Trader vs Procustoms, I thought you owned one from Vader Trader Michael). I personally feel like Procustoms's sculpts follow-up in the cartoonish side of their TV Droids figures (Their Vlix's are awesome and have a space in my collection). So to me their Rebel Fleet Trooper's look cartoonish for the lack of a better adjective. The Vader Trader Rebel Fleet Trooper's face for instance is more in line with the faces of let's say the Endor Rebel Trooper and the Hoth Rebel Trooper, and the body seems to be better defined. Pity Vader Trader went downhill into oblivion.
On this, what is known as "F*** Off, Puritan!" Day in the UK (Thank you, Greg Proops!) thankful for this channel. I give full credit to RetroBlasting and Mock the Week for keeping me... as close to sane as I can pass for as I wind down the dissertation. Thanks, Michael. As I'm fond of quoting INXS, "Don't change."
Great video, thanks. I have quite a few 3rd party figures, some of them featured here. On the whole the ones I have bought are excellent, but being even handed, a couple do have very minor nitpicks. However, I would do it all again and eagerly await the latest offerings in a way that I havent since I was a kid, which to me is what it's all about. A tactile connection to moments long gone yet somehow seem like yesterday...
I’m sure this doesn’t get said enough - thank you for consistently publishing the best in Vintage Star Wars content. I’ve been watching since 2014/2015, and I’m always excited when a new Star Wars video is released. The Luke Skywalker blaster/belt is awesome!
I finally grabbed some Stan Solo and Smith Lord figures and accessories, and wow. Absolutely exciting to start getting these into my collection. I've been impressed by the quality and the ingenuity. Great video; I'll have to look up some of these.
These are some amazing customs. I absolutely love those stormtrooper belts and the Luke blaster! Thank you for sharing Michael. I will definitely have to check those out!😃👍
the ladders for the X-Wing are a nice addition. when I ordered my custom Gray Leader Y-Wing for Christmas 2019, the seller even included a couple of ladders to go with it. I wish he was still around since I would of loved to pick up the Gold Leader & Gold 5 Y-Wings he was making at the time, but hopefully someone will finally attempt to tackle those ships for the fans to purchase since there's been a serious lack of Y-Wing toys for almost a full decade. the last time any Y-Wing toy was sold was the Toys R Us exclusive back in 2012. and sadly, custom Y-Wings and/or sellers who're willing to make & sell them are getting harder to find these days.
I like the landing gear extensions and ladders for the X-Wing, they add a great presence to a static display and does not require modifying the toy. Another great video.
I bought the trash compactor Sand-trooper pauldron from Etsy. I absolutely love how it looks! Great review! These custom Kenner figures and parts from various fans are getting me excited as well, Michael! Between these and the Hasbro retro collection tarkin and snowspeeder Luke, it feels like the Kenner vintage line has been resurrected. It’s amazing. Happy Thanksgiving to Melinda and you! Jedi Temple Toys- May the toys be with you!
Superb video once again Michael, and how have I never even thought about farmboy Luke with a blaster!!!!! 😲🤷♂️. Fans to the rescue again! Keep up the great work buddy 👌👍
I hate to say it but those X-wing cannons are still not movie accurate - the semi circle dish thing on the front is horizontal but in the films they're vertical. Minor nitpick but that was the main thing I thought was wrong about them! The back part looks cool though.
a little acrylic plastic (like the kind found on the blister packaging) could easily be cut and added to the cockpit frame to give you a window. Just a thought otherwise I would say spot on. Especially the Luke blaster.
Great stuff! Got a couple of the items on display here, more I have my eye on! Thanks as always for highlighting the great work people are doing to improve the hobby!
Awesome 👍 simply awesome. Thank you for the video. Like you said before " the fans are doing the best work" and it shows. Would love to own alot of this and create displays with vintage and custom figures. I am recollecting the vintage line to get the record kits. Having to repair some of the figures I buy due to thier condition make capes or belts and use imagination I can see why fans are bringing value to the hobby. Hasbro sucks even the retro collection is not the same as the original figures I did purchase some to use for my re carding. Given how the prices and conditions of originals are nice to see fans care to keep it alive. Some of Hasbro's figures are not cheap. I purchased a bit rage collection endor Han and Lea so I might use the capes belts helmets and they were about the same price or more than buying a loose vintage incomplete figure, thanks Hasbro.
That 77 Luke blaster is so genius I'm legitimately surprised noone thought of it sooner. Also, I love the variant options on the Rebel Troopers, really helps diversify a display so it's not just a mob of same faced dudes.
Just wanna thank you for championing the SW fanmade figure cause. I've been confident buying fan product due to videos like this that show how much more expansive our range of figures can be.
@9:58 "The fans are doing the best work" I totally agree! It is baffling that the copyright-owners couldn't catch up with the quality and best ideas that the fans are doing.
I like the enthusiasm for the accessories, and the dedication to repairing damaged vehicles, but my favorite element will always be the astromech droids and army building. The blue R3-M3 being a favorite of mine, and I don't know why.
What a suprise, fan made toys are the actual things collectors want to buy, while Hasbro are making a black series rancor that no one really wanted, how about a scout walker or an X wing for the black series ,even then I don't think £350 is a fair price ,£250/300 at max, but the rancor? That's not worth the money by any stretch( in my opinion).
Lack of imagination by Hasbro. Lucasfilm/Disney has had the same issue. These guys have one of the biggest properties around and they have no clue what to do with it. Morons.

Great video Michael, I went on some of the links and ordered stuff. “The fans are doing the best work” needs to be a RB t-shirt. Just a thought, maybe some of the x-wing parts won’t fit the Kenner version because it was modeled after the Palitoy version. Thank you for all you do!
Hey Michael. Thanks to you and Richard from Star Wars Obsessed, I have grown to love and appreciate fan made products. Have you seen the vintage X-Wing fan made canopy that Richard posted not too long ago?.
