As a kid in the early 90s, I was obsessed with pausing my VHS of the original trilogy. Looking for the aliens and droids in the background of scenes and I wanted figures of them - no matter how short of a screen time.
Thank you very much Michael for your great video and honest opinion, so glad you added them to your collection, keep up the great work. Chris Smith (Stan Solo) 👊🏽💥
It says it all when fans are more excited about a damaged back of scene droid, from a forty year old film, than the main characters of Disney`s current offering.
Fans are doing the best work on action figures. You and your wife are doing the best work exposing them to us. Thank you for everything you do retro blasting
These look brilliant. If Hasbro were doing something like this, filling in gaps in the vintage Kenner line (and subsequently at a lower price point than Stan Solo and Co. can understandably offer them at), I'd be all over it. Instead they're doing re-releases of figures that already exist. Great business model there, Hasbro. As you say, the fans are doing the best work. By light years.
Oh man. Growing up in Miami, Zayre's was a toy hot spot for me and my brother. That's what I love about these retro lines and customs..the fun, total recall moments and excitement they bring!
We had a string of crappy discount stores--Barker's, then it was King's, then it was a K-Mart. Finally, the whole strip mall faded and went under, and then I had to go to Caldor and Bradlees, but those were at different locations.
These figures are fantastic! I salute Stan Solo for their efforts. I do not collect Star Wars, but I am considering it, after seeing these figures. They would look amazing with all my childhood Star Wars figures, ships, and play sets!
Really well said, thank you for that video! Expanding on what Kenner started only makes sense and allows to re-engage and interact with that original line which only makes it more special. Deepening the variety of characters we get also keeps me interested as a fan for the long term. There are a lot of great custom dioramas out there as well that were built by fans
wow these are amazing stan solo figures. I saw tonys video on these. the level of detail and care is great. ive just received a figure from pro custums and its awesome. I shall be buying more from them. the fans are doing the best work great review Michael.
I always loved the astromech figs that came out when I was a kid in the 00s. Droids were the closet thing to a collection I've ever had in SW, until black series Reys.
Very cool to see how much you enjoy these. I have to completely agree. I felt as close to experiencing that same excitement as a kid getting a new Kenner Star Wars figure when I got mine. I'm a loose collector as well but I also had to order one on a Star Wars card back 1 on an Empire, and 1 on a Jedi because they're just so beautifully done. Fungo father and son was hilarious!!! I was roaring.🤣 Chris is a great guy and a pleasure to deal with. I hope he keeps creating more amazing figures for us.
I really like your videos. Authenticity is largely absent from many channels. While your tone is inclusive of both positive and negative reaction, it’s nice to have one objective, pragmatic voice for collectors on RUclips. Thank you.
8:37, I see a white Droid and I want it painted black, no colors anymore I want them painted black, I see the guys walk past in their Jedi robes, I turn my face anyway until my dark side goes!
As a Kid, I painted one of my C-3POs with silver paint so I could recreate the opening scene where you seen U-3PO briefly. Using Death Star Droid didn’t cut it for me so I used my pocket to buy a second 3PO and painted him. Good on Stan Solo.
Man, your displays w/ the Stan Solo stuff are fantastic! I want all of these, can't have all of em, but want for sure. Got Yavin C-3PO comming in the mail thanks to my wife, can't wait!!
I always enjoy your videos. Old or new they are clear, concice and very entertaining. If its you reacting negatively to a subject or you liking a product its always a well articulated review! Thank you Sir!
Once again, Michael provides us with a professional and heartfelt action figure review, this time featuring the latest Droid creations by Stan Solo, with a cameo by Jedi Kylie and a " blink and you'll miss it " subliminal appearance of the HamboneMacGillicuddy figure! I just wish Hasbro would see sense and hire Stan Solo to make their Star Wars figures for them! And I also wish Stan Solo would branch out and make new versions of Big Jim and Super Joe!
You have the sickest vintage style collection ever. Museum like display and quality. Also that death star astromech with the red lightsaber seems like something kenner would do back in the day.
I'm feeling the "Kid Thrills" again!!!! 51 and collecting star wars vintage from fellow fans that created all the missing characters! thanks Mike for the review.
I remember many years ago when ROTJ came out the local toy shop had tons and tons of wicket and chief chirpa ewoks so I painted them different colours like in the film
I have a couple of retro figures and I don't have any issues of the card box or the weathered detail on it... I like the retro line as well as this Stan Solo figures.
I think when people are extreme "no repro" or extreme "pro repro" they don't understand customs vs copies. Especially customs like this. There is no way that these figures cold be confused for vintage, so they pose no threat to vintage collectors. On the flip side, if someone was trying to copy vintage figures, that is a threat to vintage collectors. What is needed from people is an appreciation of the nuances of collecting, and understanding which camp you are in...are you in it for love of awesome figures (like these customs), if not, just put a makers mark on your copied product. The more people that are involved in collecting and enjoy it, the better it is for all of us.
Thank you so much for giving me the Stan solo site. It would be nice if they would make vintage style figures from the new of figures today. I would buy EVERYTHING lol
2:45 A lot of that stuff was covered in the lore sections of the Decipher CCG cards for the Decipher Star Wars CCG back in the 1990's. I'm sure some of it may have been explained somewhere in the WEG Star Wars RPG, but like U-3P0 was a card, both of the Tantive IV astromechs were cards and had designations, etc.
If I was interested in collecting action figures again I'd pick these up as soon as possible. As it is though, Lego has already called dibs on my wallet. Edit/Fun fact: the black R2 is Palpatine's personal astromech and spy.
I kinda like that pop-up saber droid. Not because It makes sense or what have you, but rather because it feels like something a kenner designer would’ve done.
They did do K-3PO (unarticulated I didn't buy back in 2001) but they did do a Legacy Hoth playset battlepack in 2007 with the white Hoth droid. Not carded I think you mean!
I believe Anthony Daniels said in an interview in the movies his lower right leg was always silver but it reflected the gold/ sand/lights and always appeared to be gold but was in actuality silver
As a Doctor Who figure collector i too understand the feeling of losing touch witb your collection, i also know what it's like to fall back in love with your collection, as recently sets have been coming out that reinvigorate my love for Who figures, i know the feeling and i know it's a damn good feeling
The figures look great And I really miss the shiny silver/gold chrome on toys I remember when Lego had that for their Lightsaber hilts and then went over to boring gray
Love these new custom figures too. Shame Hasbro don't have the foresight to go this route and give fans exciting new product to complement our existing collections.
The Silver 3P0 is somewhat interesting for me because I was convinced for years that there was a vintage silver 3P0. I thought I had one as a kid. Found out years ago that they never made one. Now they do!
I want the atsromech from the blockade runner 2:58 the one with the completely different head from the R2 units. That would be so awesome. One of my favorite figures as a child was R5D4 because I loved the atsromech droids
These are fantastic looking figures. I would definitely be purchasing some if I collected the Vintage Kenner Star Wars figures. I'm just curious as to how they get away with using the designs as well as the logos.
Stan Solo figures are fantastic! "The fans do the best work"...no truer words spoken. I have bought two R2-D2 figures from him and they are superb. These are the figures that I have missed in perfect condition for my collection now I have a perfect R2-D2 on card and on one the shelf....I don't care that they are repro...that isn't the point to me.
also the reason for the tone difference on the golds is because on an industrial scale, you don't have gold metallic, you candy coat chrome with yellows and oranges.
Amazing work, Chris!!! Thank you for the efforts you've gone to!
*Laughs in Grievous*
I love your take on this and thanks for the shout out!!!
It says it all when fans are more excited about a damaged back of scene droid, from a forty year old film, than the main characters of Disney`s current offering.
The sad thing is Hasbro could produce these and sell them for $10 a piece and make a boatload of money and they are too stupid to do it.
Very true
Hasblo is stupid with the Force!
The Force is not strong with Hasbro.
In my opinion, both hasbro and LEGO should exclusively produce C3PO figures with the electroplated metal paint job. It’s just so damn beautiful
Da La they did a few years ago and he came with that ewok chair, i got him for christmas when i was little and its still an amazing figure
Fans are doing the best work on action figures.
You and your wife are doing the best work exposing them to us.
Thank you for everything you do retro blasting
When I was a kid, I had to buy extra Deathstar droids and R5-D4s to get more droid variety. The Droid Factory playset helped too! Very neat figures!
Were you excited when you first saw the battle droids? I always thought they were cool along with the other prequel/clone wars droids
The orange droid next to the X-Wing looks PHENOMENAL.
Wish I loved vintage style figures! Still, I get a great deal of enjoyment from seeing your excitement. Another great video!
These look brilliant. Omg if I could have had both a silver and a gold C3PO as a kid 🤩
Oh man. Growing up in Miami, Zayre's was a toy hot spot for me and my brother. That's what I love about these retro lines and customs..the fun, total recall moments and excitement they bring!

I would have been so happy to buy these when I was a kid especially the Astromech droids!
I sometimes go out of my way to get Lego astromechs if I don't already have one.
We're still missing R3-M3, the blue astromech on the first Death Star, and several astromech droids from Mos Eisley. More possibilities.
So many more options for the Y-Wing!
I've always loved all the droid variants in the films, so these new/vintage figures are a dream come true.
R2 did hold Sabers for Anakin. Well in the clone wars show at least.
Awesome. I'm actually jazzed to watch Empire again with fresh eyes looking for these. Thank you and Stan Solo.
😎💯👍🏻❤️🙏🧼 Cool! Glad to see you happy!

These looks awesome.
Even to this day however, I still see vintage R2’s face like he has a giant monocle 🧐 with a red nose and blue eye.
I can still remember the first star wars figure I ever got. It was the Hoth Rebel Commander. I got in in 1980 when I was 4 years old.
I'd like to see a video about Kylie Minogue as a Jedi.
make it a canon full length movie
The RISE of ME
Was that product made just for Michael or is this a whole movement I never new existed?
As a Kid, I painted one of my C-3POs with silver paint so I could recreate the opening scene where you seen U-3PO briefly. Using Death Star Droid didn’t cut it for me so I used my pocket to buy a second 3PO and painted him. Good on Stan Solo.
Great video! I need to get these there so cool
Just purchased two droids based off this video. Thank you for reviewing!! Your channel is AWESOME!!
Great video my Friend . They are truly fantastic figures . Stan Solo is a brilliant manufacturer and a true Gent to deal with
Some of these figures I wanted as a kid! Great review! Keep up the great work!
Man, your displays w/ the Stan Solo stuff are fantastic! I want all of these, can't have all of em, but want for sure. Got Yavin C-3PO comming in the mail thanks to my wife, can't wait!!

The silver-legged C-3PO and the white C-3PO are beautiful. The other figures also look great!
Excellent feature, thanks for all the figures on display scenes too :)
Hello there! Michael you have a phenomenal channel keep it up my Star Wars friend! 👍🏻
Great video! I really dig this figures and would love to get some -- if only I collected vintage. And I'm a Kylie Minogue fan as well.
These figures are stunning and I'm glad they are available for collectors. Great Review
Hey usual mike- love your channel too! Retro, thanks for another great review as always.
I ordered the c 3 po and R2 q5
You have the sickest vintage style collection ever. Museum like display and quality. Also that death star astromech with the red lightsaber seems like something kenner would do back in the day.
Love that t-shirt!
Great Video Michael ! Thanks !
I'm feeling the "Kid Thrills" again!!!! 51 and collecting star wars vintage from fellow fans that created all the missing characters! thanks Mike for the review.
Those are so cool. I like the astromech droids
I remember many years ago when ROTJ came out the local toy shop had tons and tons of wicket and chief chirpa ewoks so I painted them different colours like in the film
Those Droids are the Bomb. Best Figures 2020 so far.
I have a couple of retro figures and I don't have any issues of the card box or the weathered detail on it... I like the retro line as well as this Stan Solo figures.

Nostalgia's a hell of a drug
Once again, fans have figured it out and have given us what toy companies won’t.
Hopefully a Mynok could be developed as well as these
If I was interested in collecting action figures again I'd pick these up as soon as possible. As it is though, Lego has already called dibs on my wallet.
Edit/Fun fact: the black R2 is Palpatine's personal astromech and spy.
Truly stunning figures and card-backs very cool.
You could give the red lightsaber to The Emperor
I kinda like that pop-up saber droid. Not because It makes sense or what have you, but rather because it feels like something a kenner designer would’ve done.

How I wish there had been a Dr Who action figure line in the late 70s/early 80s!
Wow. You said Zales and Hills and I could smell the stores
My god these look AMAZING!!! I so would have bought these when i was a kid. Hasbro has certainly missed an opportunity here. Another great video RB
Just imagine Kylie Minogue wearing and posing that custom Star Wars shirt
And just the shirt!
;)
The figures look great
And I really miss the shiny silver/gold chrome on toys I remember when Lego had that for their Lightsaber hilts and then went over to boring gray
"Your wiffle has made you powerful"
GENUINELY laughed out loud at that 😂😂😂
Love these new custom figures too. Shame Hasbro don't have the foresight to go this route and give fans exciting new product to complement our existing collections.

These are the droids I am looking for :-)
I was never a fan of droids but these look amazing.
Another excellent video Michael as always
You're right, they look so great integrated with the original figures.
Amazing! I need to order these when I have some extra cash!
They work & look amazing because they were created from love & passion on plastic we all know & have. Awesome retroflect. Cheers🍻👍
I'm with you 100% Michael... Stan Solo droids are amazing
They should make a figure of 3-CPO the Protocol Droid Billy Dee Williams described in his interview. Comes with a can of Colt 45.
My old C3PO is so faded I should call it U3PO now. :)
#HamboneMacGillicuddy Lives
Yeah, that's true, they are really exciting...👌🏼💯✔
Not a toy collector but these look great!
These are fantastic looking figures. I would definitely be purchasing some if I collected the Vintage Kenner Star Wars figures. I'm just curious as to how they get away with using the designs as well as the logos.

As a long time fan I’d love to see the rest of your Kylie stuff!
These look great! They're expensive but I'd rather support these fan companies than pay $100 for that bridge from Hasbro.
Great video, couldn’t agree with you more, the figures are simply great.
Those do look fantastic
lol Wait!! When did you add Broken Vader to the intro art??
also the reason for the tone difference on the golds is because on an industrial scale, you don't have gold metallic, you candy coat chrome with yellows and oranges.
Those one single thing that facinates me about Star wars is the Droids.
These figures are incredible!
I coolecter the astromecjs the clear domes are on the R3 units and the grey R2 unit I have a modern version from Disney
I want that shirt!
Stuck with these toys in quarantine.
Looks like I'm in trouble again ;)
Out of curiosity have you ever seen the Boba Fett prototype figure in person?
yes
@@retroblasting What was it like seeing the rarest Star Wars figure ever?
I know you have the Bea Arthur figure for the Cantina, but I wonder if you would ever collect Chewbacca's family from the Holiday Special
I see the droids but what about the rebel soldiers @10:30. Where are they from?
ur excitment is the same as mine for the bandai model kits every time they release a new droid kit
