The name 'Ubrikkian' was an homage to Stanley Kubrick, as was the 'Z-001' designation. To me, it resembles a '2001: A Space Odyssey' EVA pod. It always has, since I first saw it in 1977. I had the set of Star Wars blueprints, released in 1978-ish. One of the sheets is for this prop, and unlike most things that early in the history of Star Wars, it had the name we know it by today, which is why I am sure it's in Kubrick's honour - a lot of the UK crew of Star Wars had worked with him in the past.
Amazing history! Appreciate you sharing this me!! Very cool. I love hearing stories about the trilogy in any capacity. I believe someone else on the channel commented about this very thing. Seems like I’m the only one who didn’t know the lore. Appreciate you explaining in detail:)

Man, you’re so right! I bet Jim would be pleased to see that the fans are carrying on with the Kenner legacy in the best way possible. Can’t see how Jim wouldn’t be impressed?!
Just obtained two deliveries from SSC yesterday and today for a total of 3 pcs. for my younger brother, another SW collector friend and myself. The lids on the boxes of each one was already „pre-dented“ (probably happened during first packaging), so we probably have to live with it…
Tip for opening these types of boxes - use a knife or flat long object, slide under the flap and get near the side that not connected. Pry it up with a twist motion. it should allow for a consistent pressure on the flap to get the folded piece past the side pieces. Hope this helps!
The Ubrikkian 9000 Z001 Speeder appears to be an homage to the space pods from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 A Space Odyssey. Z001 for 2001, 9000 for HAL9000 computer and Ubrikkian for Kubrick😉 Love your vids!! You Kennermeister!!!

Using a butter knife seems to be what everyone uses, so I have been told by other viewers. I'm the rookie here since I don't collect modern and don't open new boxes ever! LOL.
Great! Got mine yesterday... beautiful! Tip: Next time, try using an exacto knife or credit card to gently pry open the box flap from the side to avoid creases and tears. Good luck. 🙂
@@GQJedi I was talking about the link to opening the box correctly that Chris had mentioned. I've had this on pre-order since May 5th. I'm hoping mine comes soon.
Man that is an awesome score. Im definitely going to preorder one. 90 pounds very well spent. Love the spherical design and the circular windows. Real classic sci-fi look like something out of 2001: A Space Oddysey. Thanks for showing.
Apparently the name of the landspeeder is a direct nod to that film. I didn't know that. Either way, this speeder has a great design and I absolutely love it. A random toy that I never saw coming. Stan Solo delivers gold again!
I feel like that main hinge will eventually break over time; I'd have preferred a little threading on both pieces to allow the 2 semi-spheres to screw together.
I guess if you keep opening and closing it, just like any other toy, that's possible. But I don't see me or many other adults doing that with this. LOL.
My box had that same slight fold on the flap before I began to open it. The rest of the box is flawless ! I display it with the flap a bit open as to not have to mess with it again. I understand GQ . LOL just don't tuck the flap in .
Well I display my toys loose and have zero intention of ever putting it back in the box. Once I closed the box back up, I forget the dent is even there. LOL.

Looks really good indeed! I agree that it looks like something that goes in the sea and not the desert!!!! Have just got the dispatch notification for this and hopefully will be getting mine this week! Can't wait!
This is one of those vehicles I always wanted Kenner (& later Hasbro) to make, yet for whatever reason, never did. Huge missed opportunity. Isn't it? I can easily see this vehicle done as a mini-rig, & whether it's Hasbro's Vintage or Retro Collections, this would fit & look great alongside those figures too. Brilliant work by Chris from Stan Solo Creations. Thank you for making this happen! I just hope he makes more, so I can get mine.
@@silvervalleystudios2486 - Never understood why Kenner or Hasbro never produced it - especially when they made so many mini-rigs. @@Guernicaman I agree. Kenner went all imaginative with those mini rigs but never made this or the V-35 Courier. The Tie Bomber was another vehicle they should have made. Mini rigs were hit and miss in my opinion. My favorites are the MLC-3, MTV-7 and the Endor Forrest Ranger.
Awesome review as always. This would be an absolute gem for any 70s kid's vintage collection. It's uncanny but just before you mentioned an aquatic looking vehicle something was going around in my brain about Luke an C3P0 bobbing around in that on a water planet. It goes back to a 1978 Marvel comic where Luke opened a hatch alongside 3P0 in a small craft on an ocean. I always played that part out in our swimming pool as a kid but never had the right ship. I even had my Millennium Falcon floating in our pool with Luke and 3P0 in the cockpit (what an unlikely crew) but it never felt right. Hey, man I love your reviews. There is no try liking them...I love them all...
I love the imagination at play when we were kids. It made anything at playtime possible in our world. 100% Never thought to bring the Falcon into any water. But I didn't grow up with a pool in my backyard so that could be why. LOL. Really happy that you enjoy the content so much. Appreciate the good vibes, amigo!
@@GQJedi I got a legacy Falcon now. Pulled it apart and put interior lights throughout because I could. No way this one will be floating in our pool. But then again, I'm known for doing silly things on hot summer nights. Even at my age...strange things happen when my kid side kicks in. Actually it never left me...
I can’t help but wonder if the prop for this was a repurposed proto escape pod for Artoo and Threepio, the windows remind me of the pod viewport. This is a wonderful item and I completely get your reverence in handling it!

Thanks, Sir. Everything Stan Solo makes is spot on Kenner inspired. Fits well into any vintage display. I'm always excited when SS announces a new toy coming down the pipe!
I don’t get to open boxes of toys that are new. I don’t collect modern toys. So it’s rare, like really really really rare that I’ll get a box like this to open. So I completely blanked on how to do this efficiently and “quickly” on camera. But you are correct as others keep mentioning to me! Thanks;)
@@GQJedi It's more visible in set photos than on screen I think. EDIT: there's a photo with Han & Luke with R2-X2 being lowered in an X-wing in the background, the pod is upside down with the windows filled in & extra pipes sticking out of it.
Just ordered this now and just subscribed. Had no idea this was available because I have only ordered off of Chris's Etsy site and this is not available there. Thanks to you I got it from his main website. Huge thumbs up! On the back of the Droids figure card there are 2 mini Riggs I have never seen before. Would love if Chris made those-especially the Side Gunner.
Welcome to the Channel, Blake! And big Congrats to you on ordering this amazing Kenner inspired toy! Glad you were able to secure one, that's awesome! You're gonna flip when it arrives. Guarantee. And since you're new to the channel, I'll just tell you that there are over 100 videos on Kenner toys on my channel! You have plenty to watch, keep you busy and possibly inform you along the way.
@@GQJedi Just now got this in the mail! Thanks again for making this video so that I could know this was even available! Did you order anything yet from Pro Custom Figures online store?
If you had told me this was a vintage Kenner toy that was discovered in a secret warehouse or something I would totally believe you. This thing is awesome!
If you look at it this way, the slight bend there could be seen as a sign of "earned battle scars". You put time into the process to get this for you. As Dr. Cox would say, ".... worth it."
Oh MANN! I always wished they's make this! When I got this notification last night, I was excited, I couldn't wait to see/hear your review on this. :) You said it, Stan Solo is following in Kenner's footsteps, it certainly ain't Hasbro! Stan Solo is serving, not only the fans, but also serving the Kenner Star Wars legacy, whereas Hasbro is serving themselves, they don't care the way Kenner did. They don't have the same quality concerns. Stan Solo is an action figure's action figure. And THE BOX!! Thanks for sharing and thanks so much for the video! :)
Glad that you enjoyed the review. I was too amped to not acquire this piece. Had to share it with you all. Hasblo has no business making Star Wars toys. They are a greedy corp that cares nothing about the people that buy from them annually. It's all about the profits for them. They don't get ANY of my money because I don't collect modern and I refuse to support them in any shape, form or color. Stan Solo's stuff is the thing of dreams!
@@GQJedi Most definitely! And don't feel weird about wanting to take care stuff, I was thinking the same thing. :) I have OCD also. I want to keep my stuff as pristine as possible. :)
My dewback is on the other side, you are correct! If you want to see that cabinet collection tour, check out this video... ruclips.net/video/elM5qKCuZ84/видео.html This was before I got the Bantha.
Another awesome fantastic video on Stan solo mos eisley landspeeder always look excellent vehicle keep collecting and may the force be be you all star wars fans the force is strong with this one .gqjedi have a lovely Christmas 🎄🎅🎅🍺🍺
⭐⭐ here`s a little advice for how to open a box without damaging it...use a knife or something long and flat, slide it in from the side through the slit underneath the lid so the tip points out the other side. then push towards the flap going inside and pull up the lid ! my heart was bleeding when i saw you denting it...⭐⭐
Hi, y'all. Hopefully to prevent trauma in future openings. The Victorinox Swiss Army Knife's FLAT screwdriver has Rounded Edges which should lessen the anxiety of prying open that box tab and the top. 😳Don't use a sharp knife blade! PS. GQ Jedi is right about the marine look. That ball-shaped land speeder reminds me of a diving bell.
Thanks for the tip. It seems everyone in the comment thread here knows what to do but me. LOL. I don't open new boxes as I don't collect modern whatsoever. I'm a rookie. But I definitely know what to do if there is a 'next time' New box situation.
@@GQJedi I Tweeted your black rubber gloved hands gleefully opening the box calling you the OCD Jedi, but encouraged all who remember the glee of opening up the old Kenner toys to check out the GQJedi!!
Stan solo does it once again. That looks really nice. I'm glad you got it open without cracking it. I'm sure Stan solo really appreciates your kind words.
If the bantha didn't break the resolve of the anti-repro/custom brigade then this surely will prove to them that SSC is the real thing, legit and 100% Kenner-ific!
The Bantha is a work of art. Hands down. This piece right here is another shiny example of Stan Solo's greatness. To the haters out there...screw em. They don't know what they're missing.
@GQ Jedi It's really a terrific vehicle. Always hoped Kenner would make this one, but they never did. Gonna check this out on the Solo site :) thanks for the review!
A few people have commented that they also thought that was the case. But alas, it's a cool looking landspeeder that sat parked outside the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine.
What about fansstrikeback?? Lol just joking I don’t even collect Star Wars but I love what Stan solo does. Also better ways to open boxes is take a blade from a knife stick it under the flap and slowly pull up and it will pop right up with no bends or dents.
Ah mate… feel for you… wearing those gloves and accidentally marking the display box with the Stanley blade (with everyone telling you ‘awesome score’) and then creasing it… 😂🤦🏻♀️ Just enjoy the toy, it’s brand new… worry about all that when it’s over 100 years old. Get some figures in it and go slide it on a frozen pond! 👍🏻
I always wear gloves in these videos, it's just my thing. And I actually didn't knick the box with the blade, I never pressed that hard down on it. But I did dent the flap. Rookie mistake. LOL. I'll know better for next time though! I'm definitely going to enjoy it.
It is an awesome piece. It's whatever the site online says it is. I preordered mine months ago, so I don't remember the exact cost. I really don't pay attention to that stuff too much when it comes to SS toys because they amazing. Just like Kenner. And they are exclusive. You get what you pay for in life, Greg. Highly recommend if you dig Kenner Star Wars.

So I completely blanked on how to do this efficiently and “quickly” on camera. But you are correct as others keep mentioning to me! Thanks;)
The speeder is also seen in the Yavin hanger celling as the Droid lift.
Is that right? Huh. I'm gonna have to keep my eyes open for that next time I watch EP4.
@@GQJedi It's more visible in set photos than on screen I think. EDIT: there's a photo with Han & Luke with R2-X2 being lowered in an X-wing in the background, the pod is upside down with the windows filled in & extra pipes sticking out of it.
Roger Roger.
The top opens too.
That it does. So cool! A great play feature :)
Glad you got it! I haven’t yet ordered but plan on it.
If you had told me this was a vintage Kenner toy that was discovered in a secret warehouse or something I would totally believe you.
This thing is awesome!
Right?! It fits into my vintage Kenner collection seamlessly. I feel like Christmas came early, bro. Love this speeder!
If you look at it this way, the slight bend there could be seen as a sign of "earned battle scars". You put time into the process to get this for you. As Dr. Cox would say, ".... worth it."
Battle scars. I like it. Makes sense to me :)
Excellent review video and excellent looking toy! :)
Thanks, Tim. It's a beautiful piece in my opinion. So happy I got one.
Oh MANN!
I always wished they's make this!
When I got this notification last night, I was excited, I couldn't wait to
see/hear your review on this. :)
You said it, Stan Solo is following in Kenner's footsteps, it certainly ain't Hasbro!
@@GQJedi
Most definitely!
And don't feel weird about wanting to take care stuff, I was thinking the same thing. :)
I have OCD also.
I want to keep my stuff as pristine as possible. :)
@@tperson8347 I knew I wasn’t alone :)) 🤘🏻
Sweet deal GQJ!!!
It's a masterpiece!
That’s awesome. I love all the Mos Eisley stuff (i collect it).
At first i didn’t know of you were going to open a toy or start tattooing! 😂😂😂😂
Haha! Yeah man, wearing gloves are just my ritual, my thing. I usually wear them when I open new toys. 🤘🏻
@@GQJedi all good man. We all do our thing differently and as an individual. I’m all for that 100%. 🚀
As for tattooing!….i’m all for that as well. 💀
Cheers to that! 🍻
I hope you have a Dewback for the opposite side?!
My dewback is on the other side, you are correct! If you want to see that cabinet collection tour, check out this video...

This was before I got the Bantha.
Great video.
Thank you, Sir! Glad you could tune in.
Another awesome fantastic video on Stan solo mos eisley landspeeder always look excellent vehicle keep collecting and may the force be be you all star wars fans the force is strong with this one .gqjedi have a lovely Christmas 🎄🎅🎅🍺🍺
Video is just now about to start! I love your enthusiasm, buddy!
⭐⭐ here`s a little advice for how to open a box without damaging it...use a knife or something long and flat, slide it in from the side through the slit underneath the lid so the tip points out the other side. then push towards the flap going inside and pull up the lid ! my heart was bleeding when i saw you denting it...⭐⭐
Live and learn. I don't collect modern toys so I don't get opps to open NEW boxes. I'm a rookie. Great tip. Thanks!
Use a knife to put under the opening flap and edge out/ push out the ends and middle to ensure no creases 👍🏻
That seems to be the tip of the day on this video. Appreciate it.
I am so very tempted to spank 300-400 notes on SS’s site
You have my full support and endorsement :)
I'm laughing too. You're hilarious.
Glad I could make you chuckle bro! :)
@@GQJedi I Tweeted your black rubber gloved hands gleefully opening the box calling you the OCD Jedi, but encouraged all who remember the glee of opening up the old Kenner toys to check out the GQJedi!!
Haha! I appreciate that, Brian 🤘🏻You rock!
Hammerhead, We Hardly Knew Ye!
Hahaha!
Stan solo does it once again. That looks really nice. I'm glad you got it open without cracking it. I'm sure Stan solo really appreciates your kind words.
Stan Solo created another fine masterpiece for us toy collectors. Absolutely love this piece! Looks great next to the Kenner figures.
Now cover it in Dust for the Authentic Tattooine look!!
Ah, my cabinet will do that all on it's own. LOL. The dust like the "sand" get everywhere. Hahahahaha
is stan solo uk based,, its unreal what cant stan solo do .....😄😄😄😄
Yes, Stan Solo is based in the UK. And no, there's nothing he cant do with toys!
£100+ UK one on his site
If the bantha didn't break the resolve of the anti-repro/custom brigade then this surely will prove to them that SSC is the real thing, legit and 100% Kenner-ific!
The Bantha is a work of art. Hands down. This piece right here is another shiny example of Stan Solo's greatness. To the haters out there...screw em. They don't know what they're missing.
I just realized it's kind of a giant R2 head.
Totally!
@GQ Jedi It's really a terrific vehicle. Always hoped Kenner would make this one, but they never did. Gonna check this out on the Solo site :) thanks for the review!
You're most welcome and I hope you get one!
For the longest time I thought this was a droid.
A few people have commented that they also thought that was the case. But alas, it's a cool looking landspeeder that sat parked outside the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine.
🤯
You said it! LOL
Party foul ! No droids allowed in the cantina
Haha! That's a fun moment from the movie for sure.
What about fansstrikeback?? Lol just joking I don’t even collect Star Wars but I love what Stan solo does. Also better ways to open boxes is take a blade from a knife stick it under the flap and slowly pull up and it will pop right up with no bends or dents.
Lots of people have commented in telling me about the butter knife trick. You are correct, Sir. Thanks again. Will use that next time!
@@GQJedi yeah I should have looked first lol I don’t know why I thought I could have an original idea online lol
No worries, bud. Appreciate you looking out for me!
Looked on stansolocreations this vehicle wasn't there at all.
Go to the website I listed in the video description. You should see it on that site for preorder.
@@GQJedi What's 90 pounds in American money?
Not sure. Google it.
Interesting item. What character piloted in the film?
Don’t think we ever saw one . Think it was just parked outside the pub in a new hope
@@obirobkenobi3599 I reckon it was garidan/longsboot
We never saw anyone pilot it. It was just parked outside the cantina.
For some reason, I always imagined it was the 2 alien pilots arguing in the cantina.
I like that train of thinking!
The stansolo stuff is beautifully made.
By the way your the spit of Josh hartnett
It sure is.
Well, I don't want to be anyone's spit. LOL. But I hope that comment is meant in a good way.
@@GQJedi a spit is a look alike
Ah. Guess it could be worse.
I had no idea that was a speeder. Thought that it was a droid.
It could be a giant droid. For sure. But it's most definitely made to cruise around town.
Push the window to open!!
Yep.
How much are these?
Click the link in the description of video. That will tell you what you need to know about all his toys.
Why gloves?
Why not? It's just my thing.
It's beautiful, but is it really $100?
It is an awesome piece. It's whatever the site online says it is. I preordered mine months ago, so I don't remember the exact cost. I really don't pay attention to that stuff too much when it comes to SS toys because they amazing. Just like Kenner. And they are exclusive. You get what you pay for in life, Greg. Highly recommend if you dig Kenner Star Wars.
Stan Solo items are awesome! Particularly these products Kenner never released. You should also check out Fans Strike Back, they have unbelievable stuff. They made a Bantha that is simply remarkable. Some good stuff out there!
Never gets old to troll, does it? LMAO! What a joke?! Thanks for making me laugh.
