Now that a lot is out in the open! It was so exciting to connect all the crumbs Suirei had dropped for Maomao and us to follow. The biggest reveal personally was that Gaoshun is a grandpa!! Whaaa!? He doesn't look that old! He's married!? Damn... All the good ones are taken.

Maomao is very pretty! Surprisingly pretty! Which is why Jingshi likes her so much! She keeps his mind churning! Good and bad! This is why he is so wound up with her! Maomao is soooooo unpredictable and unique! Go Maomao!
Interesting tidbits from the novel: evidently, Gaoshun is 37 and buff. He was married at 16. He also picks up and moves a coffin that requires two men to move. Gaoshun has also been dubbed Maomao's after dark escort to keep her from reopening her leg. the Weirdo was the one who sent the message to Jinshi that suirie had "died". There's also a reveal about Gaoshun's and Jinshi's relationship in these chapters that doesn't come up in this season of the anime. So I'm not going to reveal it unless asked. The Jinshi-Gaoshun conversation also had the maid in it. She was the one who told Jinshi not to hold his nose. That's pretty much all she did or said so I can understand why she was cut from the scene. Jinshi does not like Loulan's decorating sense. The Emporer also has a hard time "getting in the mood" with Loulan. The Emperor's mother was so young when he was born that she couldn't deliver him and was given a C-section. It was uncertain if she would live through it. She was also the mother of the emperor's brother.

Thank you for not revealing that part about Gaoshun and Jinshi’s relationship - yes, let’s wait on that to see if the show gives it to us in a future episode or season, please! That’s interesting that Suiren knows they’re not Eunuchs, but that makes sense! That note about the Emperor is interesting as well, especially with her giving birth with the second son (that ended up dying) after that and why it was so critical she got care. Hm. That explains a lot with The Emperor not messing with Lishu (aside from being just a decent person in that respect haha), but it would also help to explain a lot of why Jinshi’s existence is able to be shrouded in mystery. I was afraid the little shot in the op might've given away the revelation about Suirei's "death", and I was right 😅 I didn't realize the implication, so to me it was a really big shocker! One of the biggest in the anime even! You comparing MaoMao and Suirei to Holmes and Moriarty seems to be very accurate, and I really like the potential rivalry these two could have in the series. They're both intelligent and knowledgeable, they are good at the art of camouflaging, and Suirei represents a great challenge to our MaoMao. She has been able to draw MaoMao's interest since the time when she was talking about resurrection, and now that she has staged her own death MaoMao is even more challenged, and I personally adore this twist. I agree with you, Loulan HAS to be involved with all of this (I'm even more convinced now that you made me notice her servant saying something suspicious to her just in that moment!), and I refuse to think otherwise. The thing with her changing constantly appearance sounds really fishy, and in general she's so mysterious and secretive I wonder what's her deal. Another big revelation was discovering Gaoshun isn't a eunuch too (with Jinshi it was obvious enough) and on top of this he's a GRANDFATHER? What a shock! I also did suspect Basen had to be related to him in some way, but to think he's his son? I did not expect this either. The saddest thing is Gaoshun is unfortunately already taken, and I envy his lucky wife sooo much. MaoMao's evil villainous laugh totally caught me off guard, she can be really scary if she wants to be (another common point with Lakan.) Can't wait for the next episode!! Maybe I'm in the minority, but it's one of my favourites

I like the idea of Suirei being Moriarty or as another commenter pointed out - Irene Adler; I feel we’ll just have to see in the future episodes which she fits more with! ;P But I love the idea of MaoMao having a RIVALRY and it being soooo intriguing! And ys, Loulan is very mysterious and I’m curious her role in all this as well - which has me excited for the future with the show! And yes, Gaoshun being a GRANDFATHER is inane. And I wasn’t sure about Basen’s relation, but him being Gaoshun’s SON is wild! Meaning he has another kid, too! But yeah, his wife is a LUCKY WOMAN.
