For half the price, the Mach 1 wasn’t that far behind. Not bad considering the difference in HP. Maybe Ford can get the Mach 1 a little closer to 550 HP to make things interesting.

I got to drive the gt500 for 3 days and it's ture, there's wheel spin at 85mph and yes, it's terrifying. It's such a beast and needs to be driven with respect or it will put you through a concrete wall.
It was a lot closer than I thought it would be. Curious if the Mach 1 had twin turbos how it might fare against the GT500. Or maybe not even something that extreme. Perhaps just some basic mods and tuning. Fun video guys, thanks!
That because the Shelby loses traction from a 40 roll and doesn’t launch hard on the street (launch bogs on street due to the DCT setup) taking away from the gap effect. Shelby 60-130 is a good 4sec faster than the Mach 1 and the gap would get even worse after 130… Quick stoplight to stoplight street races could be close due to my above stated reasons. Anyway, both great cars; but, who buys the new Mach 1 with an auto when there’s the available Tremec !?
@@ms3ben I did. I live in a congested area where having a manual makes traffic even more awful. Plus, I have had 30+ YEARS of driving a manual; I'm ok with the ability to relax once in a while. On the bright side, I'm significantly quicker than a manual Mach 1

Please add 60-130 mph and 100-200 kph to your testing. Many others are now using those for acceleration for higher powered cars. Any chance you could add these? Thanks guys.
this is old but when in drag strip mode on the mach 1 along with traction off with sport engaged you have to shift early or the tires will lose traction and you’ll end up spinning out and shifting early will prevent that from 1st 2nd and 2nd to 3rd

I think the outcome was exactly as expected, but considering how much more approachable a Mach 1 is as an actual vehicle to drive, I think I would still prefer a Mach 1 over a GT500
Nice...but remember that Willow Springs is not anywhere near sea level. The GT500 would smoke it anyways...but forced induction always has an advantage over a NA car at 2,500 feet.
I had a 2013 gt500 that I modded to 725hp and it was sketchy to drive all out. I have a 23 10 speed Mach 1 now and it’s a whole lot more predictable to drive at the ragged edge.

Dont be, sold mine for the lack of quality control and the. An evap that went bad and they wanted to charge me 3k to fix. Lukily mine was under 40k for $50k a mustang definitely not worth it. I would Wait or look at the camaro

The GT500 Launch Control is just fine off the track...You just have to dial down the RPM. I use about 1700 on an unprepped surface. It will bog a bit at launch, but the computer will find the best traction. Still not nearly as good as AWD, but its better than human error.
A little bit? It’s terrible compared to most of its competitors. A Carrera S would eat the GT500 for breakfast off the line despite having 300 less hp.

Why would these cars have rear traction only? They should have 4 wheel drive to really take advantage of that power. It has been shown again and again that large HP vehicles are much faster when the 4 wheels have traction

Uh, ok let’s put 760 hp with a blower up against a car with 480 hp and then act surprised at who wins. I just bought a Mach 1 two days ago, but I wouldn’t even waste my time going against a GT 500 unless I just enjoy getting embarrassed.

You guys usually have really good videos but what I don't get is why are you taking traction control off? Leave it on and you don't spin, trust the Ford engineers, you don't know more than them. Drag Strip mode, TC on LC at 1800-2200... And stop manually shifting. If you want to have fun, sure what you did is fine, but if your gonna race to win stop thinking you're smarter than the car.
Not sure what you mean by saying “for a long time Mustangs haven’t been able to hook on a street” and “that was supposed to be the solid rear axle issue”. My 2014 GT with solid rear axle launched really good on the street at 3-4k RPM with 255 summer tires. And isn’t solid rear axle actually better for acceleration and launching?!
It is for certain situations like a drag. Gotta say I would not give up my 2020 GT with 6-spd, PP1, and Magnaride though. Living in Arkansas Ozarks and she just rips a curvy road.

Well, I’m here to say that I’m ecstatic that the newer modern muscle is so wicked powerful and fast. I have a big block muscle car in my garage, which is my baby, sitting next to a modern muscle car, my other baby, and I don’t think my old one could run with my new one.

Mach 1 traction issue may be from the rear gearing. I'm also wondering what tires it has. The Mach I is an amazing Mustang, but I don't see it beating the GT500 in a drag race. At my local track. GT500s with slicks run 10s quarter mile

Here in Europe, a Mach 1 costs around 70.000 $ and the last time I checked a GT500 was around 150.000 $. Crazy how different the prices are.
Dealers are marking them way up. Even in North America the gt500’s were showing up for well over 100 grand.

Took me about 2 months to learn how to launch 758 hp. These guys did a great job.
The Mach 1 was closer than expected.
That 94 ft stopping from 60 mph is actually insane. Like pull your face off and splat it on the windshield crazy.
480hp is plenty and so is that $54k price tag.

You should put it in drag mode, trans in "S" hold the brake and bring the rpms up just a bit. Then release and go. Revan Evan gets high 11s.

The Launch control does not suck... the traction does.
The computer can only work with the cards its dealt.

In the drag race it depends on the driver, from a rolls the Mustangs pull away and the road course would just be a waste of time.
