I'm a great fan of Dream Theater, I've been following them since 1989 and this is perhaps my favourite song, certainly in the top five! This song is a concentraate of all I love of their music and their creativity, all executed with a superlative technique, like ever.
Finally more DT ,always waiting react from wolf ,thank u juda ❤ n this song 1 of my fav from image n words album 🤟 so many transitions n surprises,, u know guys,, and this song is one of the songs for the previous vocalist recruit (charlie dominici ) 9:32,, labrie is really-really cool and high vocal 🎉
8:54 to answer this, Petrucci used to just use the clean tone on his guitar for his part, but now his guitars have a Piezo pickup, which gives an acoustic tone on an electric guitar
More specifically, for Images and Words he layered both an actual acoustic guitar and electric cleans for the album. The chorus effect is attained through detuning each track slightly. It's pretty cool.
Images and Words was my first album from them. Then I went back to their first album and it’s been a ride. I remember when Images and Words first came out. This changed music so drastically. Next to Rush this is my favorite band.
Their 1992 album which was James LaBrie’s debut in the band is one of my all time favorite albums. It’s a masterpiece! “Pull Me Under”, “Metropolis Pt. 1”, and “Surrounded”, are EPIC! Drummer Mike Portnoy just rejoined the band since being away since 2010. Their new album drops in February 2025, but they released the single, “Night Terror”, shortly before Halloween. If you haven’t heard it, you should check it out. It’s their biggest single release since “Pull Me Under”.
I am dream theater fans from indonesia... And i always waiting dream theater reaction video from the wolf hunterz,... And maybe i cant recommend for you our legendary band from indonesia called "god bless" The song tittle is "anak adam"... Hope you like it
This brought tears to my eyes as it reminded me og my high school era and my dedication to playing guitar and hard practicing. I used to play this one on guitar and only depending on my ears and some visioning which was hard to get back then. It was one of my fabourite songs of course along with other tunes. Thank you for bringing such great memories. Unfortunately I quit playing guitar due to personal circumstances but who knows I might go back. You can check my only video cover of some of their song on my channel if you want. Much LOVE and respect from Morocco 🇲🇦❤!!
Just to clarify, this current lineup is no longer the lineup from Breaking The Fourth Wall. Mike Mangini was suddenly fired, and the original keyboardist Kevin Moore, who is heard here, left a long time ago. Those two deserve all the credit for what they brought to the table. The band is no longer what it was.
Great input there. Mangini was never fired, he was told about the conditions and still made a great impact with the band. Kevin did left and wanted separation from fans and media. Mangini did play this and was A Awesome. Every band do grow and never stay the same. That's unfortunately part of human life and growth. They definitely don't make that big impact like they used to but neither did any other bands from same age. This is for anyone else, don't add commercialised bands to the comparison also.
@Gunmetalfox He was fired. And, he found out thru the media. Pretty sad and such a disregard for what he did for this group of musicians. Portnoy left.....he'll do it again. Guess we'll be seeing the second installment of looking for that replacement. We agree to disagree.
@@bcdt1947 No. Mike Mangini was not fired. Dream Theater decided to bring back original drummer Mike Portnoy, and Mangini understood and supported the decision. Both parties released joint statements expressing mutual respect.
fuck whoever did this to you, i apologize. please no need to record/ but go play wait for sleep+learning to live. it has a 4 minute intro song you missed completely.
This is a song about a man struggling with AIDS, lyrics by bassist John Myung. If I remember correctly, James LaBrie (who hits a F#5 at one point) recorded his vocals for this song on the day Freddie Mercury died. Great performance. I’d love to see you guys react to Dream Theater’s “Octavarium” from their Score concert at Radio City Music Hall. Thanks!
It is one of my favorite DT songs. For the lyrics and the music. Thank you for enjoying it as much as I do 😁.
Timeless masterpiece ❤
Wooooo!! This was when Dream Theater stepped onto the scene, for real

An amazing prog masterpiece. Bought it when it came out and I still listen to it! (the same can NOT be said about most music from the 90s)
Absolutely!!
Best band ever ❤🤘
One of their best songs and albums
the odd time signature always succeed to makes people head banging in confusion
They're so different! Love it.
Kevin Moore on keyboards ❤, love you guys so much. 😊
Chew on this, this is their second album and first with James. And the entire album is fantastic.

Great. It's probably my favourite song from the album.
Gotta love that opening in 15/8 to 14/8 before it goes in the main groove of 7/4
For the untrained ear, it’s definitely hard to grab on to 😂😂
the album that started it all and put on the map back in 1992 pull me under was there only hit back then
Images and Words was my first album from them. Then I went back to their first album and it’s been a ride. I remember when Images and Words first came out. This changed music so drastically.
Next to Rush this is my favorite band.
Gosto de mais dessa música e é muito legal ver outras pessoas apreciando com tanto entusiasmo quanto eu rs ❤
To this day, still one of their absolute best songs!
Wow these guys get this song ! Most people wouldn’t understand it😅
Top to bottom one of the greatest albums of all time. I wore this album out in the 80s.
My favorite DT song. My reaction the first time was just like yours when James hit those high notes in the middle
Unbeatable 90s vibe

I love blasting this album when I’m driving late night on a long highway. No idea why lol

Agreed.
They are still good but really Kevin Moore was way more melodic than Jordan less classical style more mood .

She is my favourite
Glad you like his voice then because he sounds like Vince Neil now lol James needs to give it up
THe entire album constitutes their best work..Images & Words. Dive in...T
Also-- Mr. Mike Portnoy on drums. He plays on most of Neal Morse's work. :-) T
Awake is also incredible work from them even if I don't like the mixing _as_ much.
You need to react to Night Terror, their new song.
i swear to god if this doesnt start with wait for sleep you guys were done a major disservice.
fuck whoever did this to you, i apologize. please no need to record/ but go play wait for sleep+learning to live. it has a 4 minute intro song you missed completely.
an 'arguably better' 4 minute intro song....
Hi wolf hunterz..I love your channel!! May I suggest the song "Voices" from Dream Theater. One of my favs.
Greatness
New Dream Theater-NIGHT TERROR!! Check it out!! 🎸🎸🔥🔥🥁🥁

Your recording setup is crazy. Idk if that’s your headphone audio, but I’m hearing bass parts that just don’t come out on the original track 😂
