We toured the museum over the holiday. The quilts were wonderful. Wasn’t aware of the basement area. The ladies were so friendly. Also loved the sewing machine exhibit.

Your make a wish quilt with grey background is gorgeous. Look forward to seeing it quilted.
After learning about the wave stitch from your videos, I bought a new 9 mm Bernina last July. I’ve been using that stitch in various sizes for quilting my wall hangings and pillow covers. I like to mark my lines with a hera marker when the fabric’s color allows me to see the indentation.

Thanks for the tip to not rotate when doing wave stitch. I just finished a pillow and I wondered why it didn’t look quite right. Now I know, I rotated!
The blues on the. Make a Wish quilt just pop off the gray background. So pretty.

Thank you for the tour of the new location of the Virginia Quilt Museum! It was very interesting to see the climate controlled office area and how they stored the quilts.
Love, Love, Love how your Halloween wall hanging turned out. The wave stitch and binding are perfect! I need to work on finding my perfect bobbin tension so that I can use different color threads on top and bottom. I just finished hand sewing dark purple binding to a large quilt that had white backing. It looks so nice to hand sew the binding, but it takes many evenings to finish!

Hi Pat....thanks so much for the tour of the Virginia Quilt Museum....looks great and I can't wait to have a chance to visit. Also .. thanks for showing the "mini quilts" that are on display...one of them is mine!.... I have been participating in the Mini Quilt Challenges for the past several years and enjoy it so much. The challenge is really that and has made me come up with ideas that I would never have if I wasn't thinking of something to send to the museum. Am just finishing my little quilt for the next challenge due on July 19th...the theme is "Flowers" and I'm excited about the way mine is coming out. I usually don't get to see what everyone else has done as, sadly, they are never shown or included in the news letter and am always curious. Another wish would be to have my name and home place on the display.....they keep us anonymous. Nevertheless, it is a lot of fun and I am happy to have my idea/work displayed in the museum......Best....as always.......Laurel from Falls Church

Those projects bag seem like they would also be a space-saver versus the blue bins. So if we have small storage spaces projects bags would work best.
they are a different size and hold much less than the blue bins. It's good to have multiple ways to store things

So glad you showed the quilted long panel with the wave stitch. Do you use a walking foot? And what was the approximate distance between the column of stitches? I decided to create a larger “sample” sandwich to test out the threads and stitches for my quilting of my “Oh My Stars Quilt” - I used the larger sample as small table toppers for my bed side tables. Fun and more fun. 😁

there is one just a few miles from the Museum. The museum will tell you all you need to know about local shops.
My son was a huge Lego kid. I believe he passed his collection on to his son.
First machine I ever learned to sew on was my grandmother's treadle Singer sewing machine. Must have been about 10-11 years old. A few months later they decided I was ready for my mom's electric Singer sewing machine.

All the quilts that they had in storage do they get them out every once in awhile and hang them or why are they stored and not being shown I don't know too much about quilt museums...
