I remember going to the island that Atlantis is on right before it was built about 40 years ago. Not much there except maybe for an old abandoned resort. Nassau was kind of sketchy back then.
What fun you had After the chores were completed of course. We visited Atlantis several years ago while attending our sons wedding there. Pretty fancy but way beyond our pay grade for sure.
I love your dog. Our family lost two dogs this year from old age and your Yorkie is so cute. He does remind me of my Silky Terrier who was 14 years old. Our Basset was 13 years old. I definitely love your dog. What I'd like to know is this, why is this the first video I've seen in over 5 years of being a subscriber? I have apparently missed dozens of your videos.
Yes and no, only have 2 years before deciding on resigning. Having a job has been very good and while continuing to work on the water, serve the country and community we have been a part of and gaining lots of experience. We still have the boat and we live on the water so plenty of stuff to create in the meantime. Probably not a Bahamas trip though unless I get OUTCONUS but probably just hold off on that for now.
We need some advice please. We want to get a Catalina 30. Would you suggest the best year and model. Budget around $40,000. We want to sail Abacos and Bimini region of Bahamas, and perhasp as far as Exumas. Any upgrades that are essential? Two adults in their 50's. Already have starlink and plan to work onboard. How long did your water last?
Best model is subjective, we have a mkii, seen plenty of original 1980's Catalina 30's out there doing it, ours is a 1993 mkii, newest model would be the mkiii. Prices can range from 1500 - 50,000 used. The more money you pay the better the condition and equipment it will be outfitted with MOST likely but not guarenteed. Probably pay more for the boat so you don't have to equip/fix too much that first year. Always get it surveyed before purchasing, insurance will probably need that anyway. Lay in the v-berth or wherever you plan on sleeping together to see if its a good fit for sleeping. Good sails, good engine, good rigging, good hull, minimal water intrusion in the deck, any other perks such as refrigerator or solar can be essential too based on your needs. We purchased water and kept it stored on the boat for drinking, water tank is probably around 30 gallons or less besides the stuff we stored.

Next pay check… buying a hoodie! Wicked salty! I’m pretty freshwater but might be forced to reconsider at some point. Weighing my options.
it would look pretty good on the lake or wherever, thank you for the support!
