Since the time I found this pattern (3 months ago) I've knitted 3 for family members & 2 for myself. It's the easiest /best pattern I've found in 60 years 👏
I think the link got moved. Here's the new address: www.yarnspirations.com/caron-adult-knit-v-neck-cardigan/CAK0129-008072M.html. It's listed as a crochet pattern on the web page, but it's really a knitting pattern and the downloadable PDF says it's for knitting too.
You don't go fast but take your time explaining each step to take, I've seen other videos that go too fast for us beginners, your a great teacher of knitting
Your really good at tutorials, thank you for breaking everything down so clearly. I can finally knit...and totally agree with you about round needles, long ones feel clumsy... :-)
I’m already knitting my second one.. it is a lovely pattern. I managed to get sts for 4” but I got 28 sts instead of 24 got 4”.. I just worked out how to do the rows., so the length of raglan sleeve, back and front matched the length for the 24 sts. Happy knitting. She also has a lovely pullover I’m going to knit. The picture on pattern is in lime Green, and it looks so pretty. I’m doing that one on a circular needle. Happy knitting.everyone. ❤️. 🇨🇦
Hello Brittany, I love your tutorials. I’m following the instructions for the cardigan. I love your explanations. I learned how to knit and crochet when I was 9 years old. Has been a long time. Only did one sweater and one cardigan in my life. Stopped to knit for years. Anyway, there is something that I’m not doing well on my project, and it’s the increasing. After I increased a little hole formed on the row of the increase. What am I doing wrong? I don’t think that’s how supposed to be. Please help me. Thank you very much! 😘
Being a beginner at knitting I need to find a way that I can better hold my yarn in my hand as I knit. I'm right-handed but also can use my left and at times have caught myself using my left hand instead of my right, I do it without realizing I'm doing it.
Hi Brittany! I’m in a confused place right now. In the “Shape raglan” section I see my size in each of the middle two paragraphs. Which one do I pick? My size is 2/3 XL. The middle two paragraphs each say “first row” also. Don’t know what to do. Thanks.
Can you please put up lovely lime Green pullover, for everyone to see . The knitters will love it just as much as this lovely Cardigan. PS. I already have the pattern for the pullover. ❤️🇨🇦
My friend from out of town tried to teach me to knit a scarf she did about four knits on a row of 50 Then went to do a purl for the fifth row and then it was one row knit and one row purl. Could you do a video on that? I keep making mistakes and there’s a lot of different edges to do etc Anyway I like the clarity of your videos thanks so much
Hi Britney, I think your tutorials are really great - thank you for them. I am fairly new to knitting and would like to try knitting a cardigan for a small person, so that it is manageable, say a child of about one year old, but with a little variety in it like simple cables maybe - down the front - and all in one piece, apart from the sleeves - please think about doing a tutorial like this for your followers, I am sure they, like me, would appreciate it greatly. Many thanks, best wishes, Joan.
Hi Joan! This is such a good suggestion. When I learned how to knit garments, I made baby clothes because they were smaller and therefore quick to make and learn from. I'll definitely try to get something like this on my list of upcoming projects 💙
my boyfriend has been really wanting this beige cardigan for the longest time but he doesn’t have any money to buy it and i can’t find it anywhere. so i’m gonna make it for him and send it in the mail! :)
Great tutorial. I am starting first cardigan ever. Doing patons weekend cardigan. Wish you had a tutorial on this one. Little confused on the way pattern reads. Any tips? Confused on shape shoulders and neck sections
In the shaping section I’m confused about what I’m supposed to do right after casting off 2 stitches. Continue in stockinette or go to the decrease part?
I knit the large size and i finish at the row the remaining sts 83 what should i do to finish the back side ? Thanks Your tutorial is very helpful thank you
Hey Brittany thanks for the awesome cardigan pattern. Im new at reading patterns. But uve made it easy to follow. Have a question would you be interested in doing the same pattern but adding twist 2 stitches then regular cable then 2 twist stitches on the front of the cardigan id love to do that.
15:39 I saw what you did there... you split your yarn, lol. Could've used that as a teachable moment and tink that mistake. Anyway, this is quite an ambitious project for a rookie knitter seeing that you're explaining knits and purls. I can see all of the tension and technique problems thinking back to when I was new to knitting. All in all this is a good tutorial.
Hello Brittany, thank you for the tutorials. I am looking for the link for this free pattern to follow but unfortunately I can`t find it in your website. Can you give me that link please. Thanks a lot and have a good one.
I'm here because Taylor Swift gave away cardigans and I did't get one (no idea why). So, I guess I'll just have to learn how to make one and just copy her cardigan, right???
Hi! I'm using two color of yarns, black and ginger yellow. The color ginger yellow for the back, front and sleeves and the color black for the sleeve cuffs, back and front hem and the front placket. But I don't know how to change the yarn when it comes to the placket. Can anyone tell me how to do it?
The gauge part is really confusing me.. it says that you need to do 18 stitches, but then you wrote that you need it do 25 stitches.. which one is it ? And do you add more stitches when you go up a size ? Example, a large ?
No you don’t add more stitches to your gauge swatch if you’re making a bigger size. Your gauge swatch is to ensure that the number of stitches will make the amount of fabric that the pattern assumes. It’s the same no matter what size you’re making. Going on this pattern you need to do 18 stitches, and 24 rows of stocking stitch, which should measure 4 inches or 10cm, using your larger needles. If it doesn’t you need to change your needles……larger if your swatch is too small, smaller if it’s too large, then try another swatch till you “make gauge” or very close to it ie: your piece measures 4 inches/10cm
Thanks, Britney, for explaining all the steps so clearly that I feel confident about my v first Cardigan! However I have a lot of dk weight yarn that I'd like to make it with. Do you have a pattern or a tutorial using dk yarn?
I sure don't :( Definitely on the list of things to make but in the meantime, you could check out some of Yarnspirations other patterns. They have a great collection of knit sweaters and cardigans. Here's a link to get you started: www.yarnspirations.com/patterns?prefn1=patternProjectType&prefn2=patternSkillTypeString&prefv1=Sweaters%20%26%20Cardigans&prefv2=Knit

The pattern recommends starting with a 4.5 mm needle but you'll want to make sure that size gives you the gauge specified in the pattern. I'd stick with medium weight if you can. Using a thicker yarn will change the gauge which will make the sizing off.
