This video demonstrates in detail how to make a welding workbench for your shop! Building a welding workbench is a great first project to practise your welding, and will also be useful to work on. Subscribe for more welding lessons and leave a comment with ideas for future project demos.
Thanks for these great, easily understood instructions. I now have a super little welding table to which I have attached a vice and four braces toward the bottom of the legs onto which I have laid a wooden shelf for storage.
Cheers Tony, and thanks again for taking the time to make this video.
Good information for alot of us rookies and a nice presentation. Bonus: nice project for beginners.
Very nice video! Many important tips that are easy to overhear because it sounds so unimportant. Thanks once again!
Best Regards
Goran
I am just teaching myself to weld with the help of kind channels such as this that lay out the process very well. Thank you for your work! :)
Thinking about getting into welding. Looks like a must have and a great 1st project.
Tony, Thanks for taking the time to post this video, I am welder too, but this video, will help those would be welders, build there own welding table? and might even come to your collage, to be taught from the man! Top Job. Thanks.
I was surprised you didn't need to install any support brackets for the legs. I would like wheels at least on one side for easy moving it around. Great video, very well explained and demonstrated. You made it look easy. Thanks.
Awesome video. Thanks for taking the time to share. Just what I was looking for!
Thanks for the video. Good for a novice welder like me.
Great video, sat through it all, just learning to weld on a MIG, you do great work.
Good job , really enjoyed the video, and learned a couple of good tips.
Excellent instructions. Not sure the main purpose of this table, but I would weld support brackets for the bottom part of the legs and perhaps a shelf for storage....and wheels to move around.
wish my welding school was like that.
If you dont have access to a power bandsaw or drop saw you can cut 45 degree mitres using a grinder & metal cutting blade, or if you are really keen use a hand hacksaw. Cut them all to length first, mark the 45 on one end & cut.
Awesome! Thanks for the lesson!
great video, im learning and will build this table thanks
Great video. Miller rules.
great video tony!
great video man, very good indeed... keep 'em coming
I need to make on of these for my garage shop
nice job! thanks for posting!
well done!
great video ..
neat! i want to make one!
when welding the inside corner of the legs i would reccommend welding from the corner out, if your students are going into the manufacturing or fabrication world then weld berries and weld splatter are going to be something they will have to contend with on a daily basis. might as well teach them some berrie control techniques early.. just my 2cents
I would have ground off the mill scale before welding but looks like it worked out fine.
Cheers Tim....
Very good vídeo, congratulations!
I hope you make more project videos
When welding corners always weld into the corner to counter arc blow
nice video very informative,,plan to buy mig welding machine,
Nice job Tony! Very comprehensive and inspiring for a new welder in training. Any thoughts on 3 in 1 welding units that can do stick, MIG and TIG with the required accessories. Of course, I have master steel before e will go with me.'s ready go.
I noticed when u do the inside of your legs u mentioned to weld into the corner , I'm using flux core and I was instructed not to push the weld just drag it because the slag, if I weld from the inside out on the legs will the table integrity be compromised a lot or not worry about it ?
Did you check across the diagonals with a tape for square?
Wow! Great shop! I'm guessing you're a welding teacher for some school?
Would it help to grind off the mill scale?
great video!!
but it seems like the table is a little bit short.
what did you use to cut the metal to ensure the angles are accurate? Great video by the way.
ive never seen someone move so much to make a 3 inch weld
could anyone recomend me a cut off saw. im looking for something cheap but durable and around the 12" wheel range.
Can you buy shielding gas online? I live in a small community and it's very hard to get here...
not really necessesary, but it does help
Thanx alot for the video. If you get time or an opportunity to do it again please include how you measure and cut the 45 degree miters. I have searched alot on youtube (Im not the best computer wiz) but I cant find a detailed video showing where to cut so that I dont have unequal lengths. If you have a video like that and its not a hassle then I would really appreciate it if you can provide me with it. Thanx for this video.
I'm just starting to weld. I just did my cut and in the process bought 2 different chop saws. the first chop saw i bought was a cheep one from harbor freight. the metal kept moving on me when doing miters. i went and bought a desalt for 199 and it worked perfectly. also it was easy to move back and forth. i didn't trust the 45 markings on the chop saw so i used a 6-Inch Metal Combination Square to check that i had the blade at 45 and marked each tube at 45. i made 1 template for each length of tube i needed and marked all the rest of the tubes from those. fyi tubes come in 20' Length and not to wast metal you may need to different lengths from one tube. i had never used a chop saw before so that seemed a logical way for me to make lots of exact cuts quickly. today i set up my miller 211 auto and was watching this video to learn how to weld. I will tack my outside corners and check to see if they are square..
No respirator?
~brave~
Anyone think he should check if it's square again just to be sure? Lol.
steel doesn't need shielding gas, just flux, right?
I want to get into welding(buy one)
anyone know where u can acquire metal like that?
steel supply store
You forgot to weld the outside of the legs as stated. Otherwise, nice, basic welding table..
I think the 1/8 angle should have been 1/4..It makes a much stiffer table. IMO..
+tyler t thanks for the smart mouth..
who is the guy in the video?
+iliketobuildstuff A welding instructor from Olds College.
Is it a hard rock video or a welding video?
Maybe its both! \m/
Should wear some ear protection when grinding, you'll lose som earing capabilities along the years.
I'd rather make it so that you could make the legs adjustable and removable.
No hat?
will wearing a mask help with the keeping the fumes out of my lungs or make it worse???
