POV: You are the LAST Varangian Guards in Constantinople

The Varangian Guard was an elite unit of the Byzantine Army from the 10th to the 14th century who served as personal bodyguards to the Byzantine emperors. They were extremely loyal to emperors and they protected him till the death in many cases like this.

During the siege of Constantinople they were long gone. I think the last time they served was during the 4th crusade. But since the Empire couldn't pay them, they refused to fight against the crusaders.

Yep, I thought they participated in the Siege of Constantinople. I searched and didn't find any evidence about that after posting this video. They were loyal till the end battles like Manzikert though.
