My favourite overhaul for Warband was and still is Prophesy of Pendor. Nothing rivals it in my opinion. The new map, the lore, the companions and factions, not to mention all the new mechanics it had. It was simply the peak of Warband in my opinion.
A relative close second is The last days of the third age. It's in my opinion not only one of the best Warband mods, but also one of the best Lord of the rings games that exist.

I disagree with the ending quite a bit. I think the release version serves as a stablepoint for mod purposes perhaps, but honestly I see Bannerlord as more of a forever game for the studio rather than something they publish and then abandon for another title. There is massive demand from the community for more features, and while mods are great, I think Taleworlds is definitely interested in making Bannerlord better for a long time.

    • @WildWombats
      @WildWombats 2 года назад +14

I hope so, I love Bannerlord a lot. I wouldn't mind DLC content even, especially if it's a unique approach like I'm down for a Roman DLC for example. As a personal fan of the time period, I would like Three Kingdoms DLC too but I know that's a far stretch from happening. Would be more likely to see Ghenghis Khan with the Khuzaits. It's for the history lovers really. Which I think is a healthy portion of their player base. But at the same time if they do develop a new game, I'm sure it'll be just like the jump from Warband to Bannerlord, so it'd be well worth it too! As long as the franchise is still being updated or worked on in some capacity

I've followed Mount and Blade since 0.750/0.751, although as just a pup I wasn't able to buy the game until sometime a little after Warband came out. If I remember correctly the trial version(s?) was only limited by a level cap of like 5 or 10, but my little middle schooler heart certainly fit some adventures into countless very short, very similar adventures in the vicinity of the Free City of Zendar.
Pretty sure Warband was legitimately the first purchase I made once I had access to the dangerous power of a debit card number. It's been so much fun to watch it grow over the years, I can't say I've played every version, but I've certainly enjoyed observing the rise, fall, and occasionally rise again of various mods in that span of time.
And regardless of in-game fate, Zendar will always live free (And) rent-free in my heart.

I’m praying to God that they’ll make a pirate banner lord. Where you can join pirate factions or the Spanish empire or English. And you can capture ports and forts and cities just like in bannerlord 2 this is my dream

I would look into Viking Conquest II. There are plenty of historical scenarios this engine would do a great job with, especially with overhead management. Thanks for making this. Thanks for cleaning up your language, some.

Nice video! I've been playing M&B since version 0.731, and it's always a unique experience.
However, in your discussion about modding, you missed an important detail: without mods, warband would have been much different.
A user named Nijis came up with the fantastic mod titled "Battle for Sicily", back for version 0.751 - when M&B was still just Vaegirs and Swadians duking it out, and the occasional Black Knight.
Battle for Sicily added villages, armies, raids, castle sieges, and an early system of diplomacy. It was a HUGE step forward, and Nijis himself was hired by TW, and became one of the lead writers and designers of the campaign aspect of the game, possibly stirring the franchise towards the semi-historical identity it has now.
In more than one way, modding made the game what it is today.
There was also the American couple that made a mod based on 1066 and began selling it, which was kind of illegal and caused a lot of drama on the forums, but I don't remember the details.

Also, the split with Paradox (another massive drama in the forums) was mostly due to PDX releasing War of the Roses, a direct competitor to M&B. This wasn't seen very favourably by the developers and the fanbase, and eventually led to TW going on its own.

When i was playing M&B back in the day, my cousin was making fun of me about this game like "This game is garbage, why are you playing this shit", A few months later, he was playing the game day and night. He even conquered all of the calradia with his own kingdom. Mount and Blade deserved every penny i've given.

I first found out about Mount and Blade Warband back in 2015 on RUclips and was amazed by the gameplay! I had them dig into several series following the game and the mods associated with it such as Star Wars Conquest. I hadn’t been able to play it because I was on game consoles still, but once I found out that it was coming out on Xbox in later 2016, I quickly pre-ordered it counting down the days! After playing the original base game, I had the desire to learn how to play the mods hoping that it could be implemented onto Xboxes, but was saddened after months trying to find solutions only to accept the fact it couldn’t be done… I kept playing the game and watching the gameplay of my favorite mods trying to learn all about them that I could. It wasn’t until in 2020 when Covid happened and my time in the Marine Corps was in a weird state as I was in the Reserves and the military couldn’t have us showing up to base so we had to do training online, so I HAD TO get a PC! I got a PC from my dad that was from 2009 and it had just the basic capabilities to play some mods to the minimal settings that were super laggy, but it was all super slow… I still loved it! About a year ago (2022) I decided to buy a nice laptop on the market as I was finally making a decent bit after serving my time in the military and wanted to learn coding, though the game was more of the real why! Since then I have loved playing all the mods out there on the game both Warband and Bannerlord! Bannerlord has been pretty difficult having to customize each mod to be ordered properly, so I’ve taken a break, but I still love the Mount and Blade games and can’t wait for more mods to come out! I am currently loving Warsword Conquest the most on Warband and I am looking forward to LotR on Bannerlord hopefully in a year or two!!!! It surprises people to find out all I play is Mount and Blade anymore, but no other games interest me enough the way the missing community has on these games!! Also does anybody have any knowledge on how to access the Skyrim: Civil War mod? I know it got taken down due to copyright issues, but I hope someone out there hasn’t given up on getting ahold of it and found it!

I think I would absolutely love a modern bannerlord expansion reminiscent of with fire and sword set in (or based on) the early modern period. Imagine sieges against star forts, pike and shot, artillery pieces.

I've played the series since the OG mount and blade, and its been a great ride. The mod developers cant be denied their role in the series success, and props to TaleWorlds for fostering such a community rather than squashing it. Even to the point of hiring them to make those DLC! The journey is far from over, development on Bannerlord will continue to trickle in for years I'd imagine and maybe some stand alones, and then surely another entry into the series in another decade or two 😂

Warband was a lot of fun. Having a 100 relations with a village was the shit - I regularly recruited Swadian Man at arms from those villages. And my first multiplayer experience was getting punched to death as a fully armored knight by a naked guy😅

If i had any experience with modding/coding then id 100% make a banner lord mod that gets rid of the map and most menus. Take full advantage of all those carefully made maps and town/village scenes. Would make battles more organic, it would make things like horses and stuff more important and also add in other environmental things/options that would flesh out the idea. Such as scouts, or "looting" a town is actually important. Spotting enemy/friendly armies is the only way you can identify where people are on the map. So its possible you can avoid a massive army simply because your walking through a forest or your between some hilly terrain. just loads of different stuff that would totally change the game.

Just really wished to see some insight in the competitive warband community. While it definitely did not attract as many players as the singleplayer community, it is a huge part of the everyday warband player and it forever changed its participants lives, pushing the mechanics of this game to a level I have never seen while still relatively unkown to the outside mainstream community

Question - Can you improve a skill like one handed and two-handed weapon with a single weapon that can be wielded both ways? So long as you use it both ways in combat of course?
    ...
NVM I found it in the Wiki and yes you can.
