first of all, thank you for this amazing video! I've spent several great hours with it, trying to understand why are you doing the things you do and experimenting with different settings. I've managed to create some pretty cool loops and I'm very greatful for your tips and techniques.
but there is one thing I don't understand. why replicator stops working properly when you make Ramp behavior duration (of the original object) the same as a play range segment duration (2 seconds in your example)? when you do this, the replicator starts displaying the original object in the center of the screen right after the first replicated point reaches the end value of the Ramp.

Thank you. The answer to your question is that the replicator no longer has enough frames to generate the looping behaviour.

I originally released this tutorial in March of last year as a Patreon exclusive and I have only just now made it public. If you have seen it before, it's because you were a Patreon supporter, in which case thank you for that.

Thanks Simon. I don't understand the point of creating a clone layer, it seems like an unnecessary step to me. You could create a replicator directly from the shape (and thus embed the applied effects and behaviours) or from a group in the case of several shapes to be replicated. Is there a reason I'm missing why you used a clone layer?

Oh, I think that I have opened the door to a part I didn't know about thanks to you, in fact it allows you to obtain a lot more parameters and more particularly the "Play Frame" checkbox. As many developers say: RTFM. Well, I will do it right away.

Try it your way and you will immediately see why the Clone is an essential step. The Replicator timing controls don't become activated unless you use the method I demonstrate and the timing controls are essential to creating this effect.

It is one of the most useful things you can know about replicators. I should have made it clear what was going on but I use this technique so often in my tutorials that i forget to explain it every time.

Amazing. However, my first frame is blank. I have set my first frame to 1, rather than zero. Its doing it on ramp and exponential and log. just me?

Could it be that your timeline start Preferences are set differently? Mine starts at 1 not zero. No idea if that's the answer though.

Hello, i did set my prefs as you did, however If i trim off the first frame it works. quite why I didnt think of that earlier I dont know. So all working now and tomorrow I will be putting it to good use as a project has just landed on my desk and I had no idea what to do, but this will now for the basis of a nice countdown graphic for an internal job. thanks for the inspiration.@@SimonUbsdell

Most peculiar. If you'd care to send me your project, I'd be happy to troubleshoot it. But glad that you've found a use for this so quickly. Hope it goes well.

You are very kind with your offer. Ive come in this morning, created a brand new project and am starting from scratch, changing nothing, and of course, it seems to be working! I say working, other odd stuff is happening, and it keeps putting a rotational value of 1 degree on the source square, and occasionally taking a long time to refresh, so I'm going to assume its a more general motion/OS issue, as I have recently updated. Also, since my project is for a 30 second countdown I can just remove the out marker and let it play as a non loop! But thank you again.@@SimonUbsdell
