Glad to see someone else big on okidogi, mon is so underrated atm (assuming its a tera cap) fez is wierd, i used to not be big on it for its passivity but after using it a bit, I think I finally figured out the optimal way to use it which is more offensively invested and rely on its natural bulk or slap an av on it. fire poison fairy ice (technician icy wind) hits a lot of the meta hard.
I'd love a series where you go over a shitmon's "resume" every week. Roles on a team, potential sets, but also notable performances where it was actually drafted. These could be shorts too. My original idea was to call it "interview with a shitmon" and have like sketch comedy element where someone plays the role of the shitmon doing like a job interview with the host / draft league coach (think mandjtv's pokemon talk) but that's a lot bigger of a project and nothing like anything you've done before.
I'd argue that walking wake is great even out of weather. In my first season of draft, I had a hybrid weather team, and found that walking wake could smoke in sun. Its most underrated set was dragon dance, which actually did amazingly well multiple times, against very specially defensive fairies. Toss a mystic water, and dd liquidation can do so much, and has never specifically been prepped for. I then helped a friend build for his own league, and walking wake and darkrai were clearly his mvps.
I see my mistake, I meant to say that while it smoked in weather, it performed brilliantly even when I didn't bring weather, hitting hard and could also abuse dragon dance when I fought specially defensive fairies. While I wouldn't draft it without sun, I wouldn't neccesarily drop it if all sun users were dropped, and all that was left was vulpix. I would also argue that Walking Wake is tiered variably. While I saw it at 17 in the BBR, I believe the SPL put it at 15/16, and I regularly see it much lower in different leagues. Also double weather is definitely very gimmicky, it was not my intention, but my team just happened to fit it, and other options weren't available.
The thing about Spidops and its biggest niche is having Stakeout with those hazards, having Knock Off, Circle Throw & U-Turn aid it in the lacking atk stat WITH Stakeout and the mon itself is also deceptively bulky which cannot be found in many bugs.
Can we just take a moment and appreciate this dex for the estetically pleasing way it's very equally spread across the tiers compared to the other gens?
This is def the Gen where GF decided to make as many op abilities as possible, from Supreme Overload to Purifying Salt to Good as Gold. SV is probably up there with Gen 4,5, and 7 in terms of most influential gens on singles and draft.
I have a weird story about slither wing. Ive drafted it one time, and that one time, it somehow had a good matchup every week except for one. And it did decent every game (except for one where i was an idiot and forgot about future sight, and it died for no reason.)
How about tier lists based on the usual points each mon costs? Basically have the "20-19 points" tier, and the mons in that tier are ordered to see whats the best for that prize (usually). Same with lower ones
There are so many pokemon I wanna talk about when it comes to gen 9, we got some real goats this generation, I think no matter where u rank any of these mons u could argue to throw something higher or lower but I've seen basically every single mon you ranked be enjoyed by at least someone, every gen 9 Mon can cook, even the really bad ones like Wugtrio thanks to tera. I love so many of these mons and would say some of them should be higher but that's mostly because they fit my playstyle better, so great list
glimmet is usually a 1-2 point mon, and can really screw with people in the builder due to just how cheap that mon is. yes it is worse than glimmora, but considering glimmora can be quite a large investment in certain leagues, and the fact that its very likely uncontested, its a prime last-last 2 round pick when you want to get the maximum value from your few remaining points
Brother hasnt seen my wpf run where ceruledge absolutely dominated almost every match. I made finals with that and it was the mvp of my team in terms of kills. (We ignore that it was a tera cap.)
Maybe it’s a skill issue on my part but I’ve drafted Annihilape twice (tera banned) and I was always underwhelmed. I feel like most teams have a strong psychic/fairy/ghost/flying that’s faster than Ape that can ohko its bulk up set, and when it’s a scarf set, it’s just not that threatening. In both seasons I had it I dropped it mid season and I felt like both times my team got better after it was gone
Also why is Hydrapple so low? Regen, good defensive stats, good special offense, Ground & Water Coverage, Syrup Bomb is fucking nuts in draft just for speed control for your other teammates, has Recover, defensively its nit the craziest but being able to resist the common 3 types & Neutral to Fire types + Ground. Fickle Beam is also great but i feel Hydrapple is a very good pokemon at full potential when used to its fullest cause nothing aside from Steel wants to come in on its Specs stab and even then those steels have to risk Earth Power.
Arch should be S in my opinion, I’ve gotten 2 separate 6-0 solo sweeps with arch, 1 with a SD variant and the other with a bulky maranga berry rest bulky set
Why the beef with hydrapple? You give no reason and put it below brute bonnet, but for it’s price it’s a solid regenerator physdef attacker similar to tangrowth, less focused on mixed attacking but does defend much better from special hits. It’s ice weak but it does the things you want a grass to do, and it can hit the steels that wall it, while also having reliable recovery
They just don’t get how great mabosstiff can be that mf can be a great low tier Tera captain, especially if you have a webs option (ik webs have their issues, but they still have their benefits). There isn’t much that can force switches like a choice band Tera dark mabo, especially with webs up. It becomes an ohko monster and an incredible breaker for some really good late game cleaners. It has its issues for sure, but it does one thing so incredibly well that a lot of the time it doesn’t matter. It got 5 kills against the number one seed in the division, and would’ve been 6 if I didn’t decide to troll with destiny bond. I’m not saying that you’re completely wrong about mabo, I just think the draft community as a whole severely underestimates how strong of a breaker it can be with the right support, which usually is just some speed control. That mf did 45% to a tusk with a crunch in a game I played. Wild stuff, mabo is my ride or die, right there next to poliwrath.
Just gonna throw this out there, Owen when saying newb is talking about the average player and average leagues. Mons like Quaq and Espathra with tera are S tier mons for most leagues. Pokeaim leagues are an example of this. These leagues have better than average players as a whole.
yeah i def dont mean it in a mean way! just an easy term that people will know what im talking about. new doesnt mean bad, just a diff level of experience!
Would you say that tauros fire outclasses the fire-fighting starters? I think it’s better than emboar and there might be an argument that it’s better than blaziken and infernape too.

hmmmm interesting idea forsure, something ill look into
Crocalor with Tera is a demon. Definitely more than just draftable.
is it worth the opportunity cost of teraing it vs something better? i dont think so personally
@@OGalbinaI had it in a low tier tera league, I didn't bring it most weeks but when I did bring it I put in so much work.
@@OGalbinayea in drafts that restrict Tera to lower tier mons Crocalor is really good. Eviolite Unaware with Recovery is strong

it can function outside of weather but def isnt great or worth that price point outside of sun. double weather is also very very gimmicky

it is def deceptively bulky ill give you that

honestly it was a lot more even than i thought!
I would love to see a draft format or ruleset tier list
I second this
what exactly do you mean by this?
nooo is it over been a goated series hopefully you can tierlist new ZA megas
im currently working on a guide to every mega pokemon in draft!

so true, has me terrified for what they cook up in gen 10 LOL
How do you just ignore gen6 like it didn't introduce megas lol

Glad i can find someone in the community that thinks Hydrapple is terrible. Been advocating it for lower point values since indigo disk came out lol
im SAYIN dude that guy is ASS
