Hey Riley, figured I’d step in and answer your question as quickly as I can. Standing up when singing makes it A LOT easier to support your voice. It makes it much easier to open the rib cage and tighten the lower ab muscles, enabling the diaphragm to become fully engaged. Doing this helps you to sing high notes with a lower amount of strain, and allows for a combination of the soft palate being lifted and the larynx going down. This means that he has a great amount of space to add head resonance making it easier to nail the high note. The fact that he can manage to support a Bb4 note at the end of the song while sitting down shows how comfortable he is with the support of his voice. Hope that helps!

The actors who portray Evan all do an amazing job of portraying someone with severe anxiety. sometimes anxiety causes you to do little tick-like things that you don’t even notice like biting your nails, messing with your shirt or clothes, heavy blinking, stuttering etc,.
Kpop Trash I have these ticks while I'm having what I call 'silent anxiety attacks' that can happen anywhere at any time and they are triggered by the most random things, this makes me really good at acting as characters like Evan cause I don't even need to do anything I will probably have an attack anyway
Everyone is comparing him to Ben because Ben is the best Evan there will ever be. Ben has the look, the voice, and the ticks. Jordan is extremely talented but his voice isn't as good as Ben's and he doesn't portray the anxiety as well as Ben either. He also doesn't just doesn't have that nerdy, awkward look cuz Jordan isn't those things. He's more of a cool, stereotypiclly good looking guy. So although he is a very talented actor and singer he just isn't the percent Evan. Ben Platt was the perfect Evan and Ben Levi Ross was the second best Evan.

Broadway singers are the most incredible people- they don’t use any auto tune, they complete full shows all the time, they have incredible vocal range, and people like this come out of it and it is amazing.
He has a much richer tone than most of the other Evans and I absolutely love it. The low notes sound so much more powerful, but he still nails the high ones

I've been thinking about this a lot. I think it's the big eyes and the facial expressions! And the voice is somewhat similar/they have similar singing style.
And that comment exemplifies the issue I have with casting in musicals at the moment. You desperately want to cast a POC but it doesn't matter if they're the right ethnicity for the role. They're just NOT WHITE. Imagine being that talented and having your entire ability and personhood as a performer boiled down to "yeah cast him coz he's not white". Honestly putting myself in their shoes, I'd be insulted. Cast because they're the best choice, not purely on skin. That's not the person. Having said all that Jordan would be a killer Aladdin I reckon.
What I love is he’s still in character when he sings he’s not just singing as Jordan he becomes Evan and get all his tics and anxiousness etc...(Ben always did that as well,it’s amazing).
I love his phrasing at "we belong!" And wow! He is such a talented performer! As a singer myself, I know it is difficult to control your voice, but he makes it seem effortless.
